fagrant ie womns ministy newsleerConfess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may behealed. The effective, fervent prayer of arighteous man avails much.James 5:16
A friend of mine has been a wom-an of prayer as long as I have knownher. We first met 27 years ago whenour boys were small. The 2 boys be-came fast friends. One evening Tomwent across the street to bring Mat-thew home for dinner. When he gothome he was alone. I asked, WheresMatt? Toms reply wasnt quitewhat I expected. He didnt get Mattbecause he never knocked on herfront door. When he got there he
saw Linda, through the small panesof glass in her front door, prostrateon her face in prayer, crying out tothe Lord for the needs of her family. He didnt want to disturb her, butthis incident had a greater impact onme. It was at that moment that Iknew where I was going to go when Ineeded prayer.
Over the years we developed a closerelationship with each other, praying
often for each others needs andstruggles, for our children and ourfamily and their struggles. She con-tinued to encourage me in prayer andI credit her with helping me to growto love prayer as I do today. Therewere several Christian women fromour church that lived on our block. Itwasnt long before we had a regular
prayer meeting at my house withabout 6 women. We saw many victo-ries and answered prayers as we lift-ed up our needs to the Lord. Thatwas a special time that I am eternally
grateful for.I dont see her much anymore butwhen I do, the first thing we do ispray. She will always ask me to prayfor her and her family and I mightadd I take great joy in doing so.There is something so humble aboutopening up to another person andsharing your heartfelt needs. I knowthis pleases the heart of God and, asJames 5:16 tells us, it avails much.
Next time a friend needs encourage-ment instead of saying Ill pray foryou, say Let me pray for you. Thendo it right then and there! The Lordwill use you to show His love andsupport through your prayers andactions.
I am convinced that if we truly com-prehended how much power there isin prayer we too would be like myfriend Linda, prostrate on the floor
crying out to the Lord in prayer.

Prayer, Poetry and Praise
Glorious DayCasting Crowns
One day when Heaven was filled with His praises
One day when sin was as black as could be
Jesus came forth to be born of a Virgin
Dwelt among men, my example is He
Word became flesh and the light shined among us
His glory revealed
Living, He loved me, dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He's coming, oh, glorious day,
Oh, glorious day
One day they led Him up Calvary's mountainOne day they nailed Him to die on a tree
Suffering anguish, despised and rejected
Bearing our sins, my Redeemer is He
Hands that healed nations, stretched out on a tree
And took the nails for me
Living, He loved me, dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He's coming, oh, glorious day,
Oh, glorious day
One day the grave could conceal Him no longer
One day the stone rolled away from the door
Then He arose, over death He had conquered
Now He's ascended, my Lord evermore
Death could not hold Him, the grave could not keep
Him, From rising again
Living, He loved me, dying, He saved me
Buried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He's coming, oh, glorious day,Oh, glorious day
One day the trumpet will sound for His coming
One day the skies with His glories will shine
Wonderful day, my beloved one, bringing
My Savior, Jesus, is mine
Living, He loved me, dying, He saved meBuried, He carried my sins far away
Rising, He justified freely forever
One day He's coming, oh, glorious day,
Oh, glorious day!

Titus 2
Hannahs Prayer
By Kelly Gardner
And she said, O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am thewoman who stood by you here, praying to the LORD. For thischild I prayed, and the LORD has granted me my petition whichI asked of Him. Therefore I also have lent him to the LORD; aslong as he lives he shall be lent to the LORD. So they worshipedthe LORD there. And Hannah prayed and said: My heart re-joices in the LORD; My horn is exalted in the LORD. I smile atmy enemies, Because I rejoice in Your salvation. No one is holylike the LORD, For there is none besides You, Nor is there anyrock like our God. (1 Samuel 1:26-2:2 )
Have you ever wondered what baby dedicationmeans and why it is done? It isnt just a ceremony forphoto opportunities and rituals. The true meaning ofbaby dedication is giving back to the Lord what Hehas already given to you. Like Hannah, you arestanding before the Lord and the church body, prom-ising to, Train up a child in the way he should go, and when heis old he shall not depart from it. Proverbs 22:6
To train up a child means more than the act of ded-
ication; it is teaching your child Gods Word, how topray, taking them to church and most importantly, daily living in love and obedience to the Word ofGod. Does the promise of Proverbs 22:6 guaranteeperfect children who make perfect choices? No.But I do believe the promise of, And when they areold they will not depart from it. means that the seedsof faith are planted deep in the heart of your child.
Hannahs Prayer: It says in 1 Samuel, 1:10-11, Andshe was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the LORD and wept
in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, O LORD of hosts, ifYou will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant andremember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will giveYour maidservant a male child, then I will give him to theLORD all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon hishead.
As a mother, I understand and continue to learn thedepth of Hannahs prayer from my own inability tohave babies; the loss from miscarriages and the mira-
cle and blessings of children, both natural birth andfrom remarriage. I also have learned to understandthe extent of what it means to dedicate and trainup your children in the ways of the Lord. Someoneonce said, When your child becomes an adult thenyour job as a mother is finished. No longer do youoffer your child wisdom. I disagree, a mother neverstops praying for her child, even when they aregrown.
Your children , natural, adopted or by marriage are
blessings not burdens. As a mama, its about lovingJesus with all your heart, with all your mind and withall your soul.
For this child I prayed is not a one time act! It isa lifetime of prayer!
For God so loved the world, that HeFor God so loved the world, that HeFor God so loved the world, that He
gave His only begotten Son, thatgave His only begotten Son, thatgave His only begotten Son, that
whosoever believes in Him, shouldwhosoever believes in Him, shouldwhosoever believes in Him, should
not perish, but have everlasting life.not perish, but have everlasting life.not perish, but have everlasting life.

My House Shall Be Called A
House of PrayerDevotional by DiAnn Wolfe
I want to draw your attention to verse 17 of Mark
11, Then He taught, saying to them, is it not
written, My house shall be called a house of
prayer for all nations? But you have made it a
den of thieves. This statement had so angered the
religious that scripture says they sought how
they might destroy Him; for they feared Him, be-cause all the people were astonished at His
teaching.Jesus utters these words addressing the corruption
that had invaded the temple. There were money
hungry merchants, overcharging the worshipers,
and taking advantage of the poor. Can you see Him
driven by His passion for His Fathers house? He
orders all sellers and money changers out of tem-
ple, My house shall be called a house of prayer
for all nations? The word says, the people wereastonished at His teaching. What is Jesus teach-
ing us? The obvious is, Gods house, the church is
not a place one goes to make a proit for them-
selves, or for personal gain. The Lord wants us to
further understand that the house of God is or
should be a house of prayer. What is He saying to
us as a church today, is when you come to My
house, I want you to know this; My house shall be a
house of prayer.
The truth is, that the church that doesnt pray is
going to lack power; it will be weak. We need to be
reminded to pray, because what we ind, is less
than one percent of our church typically attends
corporate prayer. Prayer invites the power of the
Holy Spirit to move, answer the needs of the body,
and to accomplish the will of God. And they con-
tinued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine and
fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in pray-
ers. Acts 2:42. Think about it, how did the NewTestament church begin? They gathered together
at Pentecost in prayer, in one accord. What pre-
cedes any mighty move of the Holy Spirit in power?
Prayer. And these things continue to be the way
God has chosen the church to grow.
Jesus doesnt say my house should be a house of
teachings, or a house of serving or a house of fel-
lowshipping, but a house of prayer. None of these
are exclusive, but all are necessary for growth.
Our church, Gods house, should be full of prayer. We need to be brothers and sisters in the Lord
praying and interceding together for the needs and
concerns of the body and others.Prayer doesnt change Gods plans, or will, but He
has chosen to use our prayers to, achieve His plans.
Scripture is clear in its exhortation and command
to pray.Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribula-
tion, continuing steadfastly in prayer; Rom.
12:12. Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigi-
lant in it with thanksgiving; Col. 4:2Jesus said, My house shall be called a house of
prayer. For the power of the Holy Spirit to move
in our church and among our people, it will be di-
rectly correlated to the amount of prayer that goes
up before the throne of God. James admonishes the
churchyou do not have because you do not
ask: James 4:3. Prayer is the channel to all Gods
blessings. Prayer is the means God uses and has
appointed for things to get done. I hope we each
consider serving in prayer and being a part of
bringing blessings and growth to this body of be-
lievers by taking advantage of prayer opportuni-
ties, corporate as well
as one on one.

PRAYERS ABLAZE FORTHE LORDBy Mary Jane Robinette
Their are times youll be driving downthe road and you hear sirens coming
from the distance. You begin to getcautious because you know the law
commands that you must pull over andbe still while the fire apparatus makes
their way to their destination. Youmight even be able to look up and seethe bellowing smoke rising to the skyfrom the hot burning flames. A senseof yearning to pray creeps into your
heart. You urgently whisper words infervent prayer asking the Lord to helpthis situation and keep everyone from
harms way. God hears your heart atti-tude of prayer . . . it reaches up from
the very essence of your soul.
I used this scenario to show you howyour fervent prayer was ablaze reach-ing out to the Lord. Fervent means
glowing hot; intense heat; extremelypassionate enthusiasm. Our daily pray-er life should be just like that, prayerson fire to the Lord. Our prayers should
burn as hot coals cleansing our heartsand lips from all our unrighteous ways.Praying with a passionate and repent-
ing heart is prayer that will be effec-tively received by our Heavenly Fa-ther. We read in1John 1:9 If we con-
fess our sins, He is faithful and just toforgive us our sins, and to cleanse us
from all unrighteousness.KJVWe also want to reach out to God in
prayer and let Him know that we come
with an agreeing heart to what He
wants for us in our daily life. We
arent always faithful in the things that
God expects from us every day. Jamestells us that the burden of guilt from
the faults we carry need to be sharedand agreed with to one another. We
know when our walk with the Lord isbeing threatened by the enemy. Thereare days when we become weak in the
time we spend in prayer with our Lord.We can have a heart that has forgiven
someone but fails to forget. We canhave a heart that has lost its joy in ourministry and we need to seek prayer toreturn to our delight in serving theLord. These are the times that we need
to communicate our faults to one an-other and together seek the Lord infervent prayer. Spiritual healing is theresult of a heart that breaks before theLord. It is not how we pray, where we
pray, the words we use when we pray,it is the heart attitude that God listens
to.James 5:16 Confess your faults toone another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed. The effectual,
fervent prayer of a righteous manavaileth much. KJVNone of us arefree from faults. The testing we faceeach day can be overwhelming. Wefall short in some areas on a daily ba-sis. We know that our sins should only
be confessed to God. However it is
good to reach out to our prayer part-ners, to someone we know who willlisten and pray with us, but keep our
confidence. We need to seek out a sis-ter-in-Christ who listens in Christs
love, and prays for you with a humbleheart that is on fire for the Lord. It iswhen we share and pray together that
we are humbled to not want to dis-please God again. The prayers of a
righteous heart should be like moltenhot lava surrounding the throne of
God.
Our prayer time should be the mostimportant focus of our day. We should
awake with prayer ready to ignite in
our heart. We need to pray to God for
guidance to get through the day ac-cording to the plans He has for us, not
what we feel we need to do. No matterwhat we are doing or where we are,
there is always a moment of time thatwe can reach out to the Lord in prayer. We dont need eloquence in our words.
We dont need to pray long prayers. One short prayer, forgive me Lord,
prayed with a humble and brokenheart, reaches out and blesses the Lord.Surrendering to Gods will is a heart
broken.
The women of Calvary Chapel should
long to have a better prayer life. We all
need to have a passionate and fervent
heart for prayer. We have opportuni-
ties here at Calvary Chapel to come to
pray three times a week. Moms in
Prayer, Mondays at noon. Women
Prayer Meetings, Wednesday evening
at 6:00 PM and Thursday mornings at
10:00 AM. Dedicated hearts are need-ed to reach out to the Lord in interces-
sory prayer. Encourage each other to
come out to pray. A heart that is on
fire for prayer is a heart of a righteous
person whose prayers will avail much.
Kay Smith, wife to Pastor Chuck
Smith, tells us in her book calledThe
Privilege, Prayer is the only way you
can truly live the life that Christ wants
you to live. For that reason alone, you
should long to become a woman of
prayer. She also shares, Oh the im-
measurable power of prayerhow
little we realize the gift weve been
given. If we could only see with spir-
itual eyes what God does with our
prayers, we would probably spend the
rest of our days on our knees.
