The Broadway musical The Adventures of Tom Sawyer provides a tale of thrilling escapes, comedy and entertainment for all, as the classic Mark Twain story jumps off the page and onto the stage. Set in 1840 Missouri, it is the tale of young Tom Sawyer and the never ending mischief which he so often finds himself a part of; whether it's matching wits with Aunt Polly, tricking his friends into white-washing a fence for him, or narrowly escaping the clutches of a murderous villain. Along with best friend Huckleberry Finn and love interest Becky Thatcher, the greatest Tom Sawyer exploits are plucked from the book and plopped onto the stage.

Top right: 8th grade French Horn player Keiju Oda was selected to be part of the CMEA Bay Section Jr. High Honor Band.

Bottom left: 7th grade euphonium player Audrey Miller auditioned for and was accepted into the Northern California Jr. High Honor Band, where she placed first chair!

Bottom right: 8th grade violinist Lauren Lee auditioned for and was accepted into the California All-State Jr. High Honor Orchestra. This is a first for the Fisher Orchestra program!

84% of goal reached; first round of grants approved Thanks to all the families who supported LGEF’s major fundraiser with donations and pledges from the beginning of the school year through the end of January. We reached 84% of our target goal of $750,000, which is enough to approve the first round of grants due this month. These grants fund the salaries of our art and music teachers. LGEF still needs to raise $120,000 by the end of the school year to fund remaining program resources. So if you haven’t yet donated—or would like to make a second donation—do so today at our secure online site at lgef.org. Or mail a check to LGEF, 17010 Roberts Rd., Los Gatos, CA 95032.

Netflix is now matching donations Double your donation with your corporate match program Netflix now offers a corporate match to its employees’ qualified charitable donations. If you are a Netflix employee who made a donation to LGEF this calendar year, you may be able to increase that donation through your company match program. Many Silicon Valley companies offer this type of charitable program. To see if your company matches donations, please check with your HR department. You can also go to LGEF’s “Ways to Give” page at lgef.org/ways-to-give.html. Click on “Corporate Fund Matching” to see a list of employers with match programs. Thank you for supporting LGEF!

Q&A Corner Q: Why is it important that 100% of district families donate to LGEF? Since every student benefits from LGEF programs, every family should help support these programs. Also, when LGEF approaches businesses for sponsorship, they want to know that parents are 100% behind the schools before they contribute. Please help LGEF achieve 100% participation. Donate to lgef.org today!
