Friday, May 20, Diane Fortenberry, 51, was killed in Gordon Township, near Lake Osakis, in what officials said appears to be a bur- glary gone wrong. She was found dead in her home around 4:40 pm when her son came home from work. Todd County Sheriff Pete Mikkelson said it appeared that she came home after hav- ing lunch with co- workers to a burglary in process and was killed. Fortenberry was transported to the Long Prairie Hospital, where she was pro- nounced dead. An autopsy was per- formed by the Anoka County medical exam- iner. The Preliminary reports reveal that she died as a result of blunt force trauma. The Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating several leads along with the To dd County Sheriff ’s Office. Sheriff Mikkelson reported the following items were missing from the residence: • Large amount of collector coins and currency, including rolls of Susan B Anthony or Eisenhower silver dollars; buffa- lo nickels; wheat pennies; Indian Head coins; $5 silver coins; $2 bills; silver C notes $100 bills 32” Westing- house flat screen TV Vexilar depth finder • DVD player with surround sound • HP Pavi lion lap- top • Jewelry box con- taining a sapphire ring, ruby ring, Black Hills gold jewelry, Montana silver jewel- ry items • X box Sheriff Mikkelson is urging people to contact them if any- thing unusual or out of the ordinary was noticed in the Osakis area recently. Club Gambling Manager, Tad Hoefs, left, says the club has also made donations of $550.00 to the Special Olympics, $600.00 to Vacation Bible School, $650.00 for flowers for the City of Browerville, $1,000.00 to  Relay for Life, and nearly $3,000.00 to the Browervil le Ambulance Squad. The Lions Club will also be the main sponsors for an upgrade and renovation project planne d for Motzko Field. On May 16, at 4:19 pm, the sheriff’s office received a call of an accident in the City of Browerville. Belinda Prather, rural Clarissa, had parked her Chevrolet S-10 Blazer on Main St. in front of city hall. She left the SUV run- ning and when she returned to her vehicle approx. five minutes later, she saw it had rolled one block in reverse and struck the Browerville Chiroprac- tic Clinic. The vehicle was not damaged; the build- ing sus- tained moderate damage. No other vehicles, buildings, or pedestrians were injured. Todd County Sheriff Pete Mikkelson addressed the media during a press conference held at 10:00 a.m. May 21st.
