THE COMPOTTNDING DEPARTMENT FOR PHTSICIANS' AND SURGEONS' PRESCRIPTIONS— Mr. Townson gives special attention to that very responsible part of his business, the •compounding of medicines; and being fully aware of its importance he has so arranged his establishment that all prescriptions and family recipes are prepared in a separate department, where the dispensers are not interrupted by ordinary business.

Qualified assistants only employed, it having always been a rule in thif establishment in order to secure accuracy, never to commit this trust to the hands of inexperienced persons.

The principles on which T. "W. T. conducts his establishment are personal attention, correctness, neatness, punctuality, and charges as moderate as are consistent with the finest quality.

No changing of Springs required to increase the pressure of the foot on the Cloth. •No relacing of the Band when a little too slack. •No unscrewing of the Cloth Plate when changing the Needle Plate. •No oil spurting on the dress of the operator. -No turning the Machine the wrong way. No difficulty in Quilting backwards and forwards without leaving off. No removal of the Gauge and measuring when two widths are required in the Quilting. No turning of the Gauge out of place when Quilting. No difficulty with large work, as the inner and outer Gauge may be used alternately,

enabling three times the bulk to pass through. -No adjusting of Slides for different thicknesses of material. -No difficulty in putting the Quilting under the Gauge, as it is lifted each time by the

Cloth Presser. -No difficulty in Creasing for wide or narrow space in tucks. -No taking off the Arm when fixing the Binder. -No difficulty in the Trimmer of stitching on either edge of a piece of braid, or in the

middle or any other part. -No hammer required to mark the tuck when Creasing. -No difficulty in operating on large garments with Supporting Rods. -No spring reqmred to draw back the Feed Bar, as it is positive in its action both ways. -No difficulty in changing from plain stitching to " Belgravia Embroidery," or vice versa. -It can Embroider on the upper side of the Cloth in Worsted, Silks, or Wools. -It can Embroider on both sides of the Cloth simultaneously. -It can Embroider with either Lock Stitch or Double Chain Stitch, on the right or

upper side of the Cloth.
