Not MBAs Wrong Consequences
Corruption of the Educational Process There are four things a student should want from a business school, One is to
learn something aboutbusiness disciplines like organizations, accounting, finance, production, and marketing. The second is to deepen an intellectualunderstanding of the relation between activities in business and the major issuesof human existence. The third is to be able to signal that youre the kind ofperson who goes to a certain kind ofbusiness school. And the fourth is to lay thebasis for a set of personal connections.
Confidence-competence= arrogance
Corruption of Managerial Practice Consulting and investmentbanking instead of managing
Corruption of Established Organizations Exploring and exploiting
Corruption of Social Institutions Perfection of means and confusion of goals sees in my opinion to characterize

The Ms, the Bs, and theAs
drop the Aand replace itby various specialized
designations: an MBM in marketing, or even MBMR inmarketing research, an MBF in finance, and so on. (Butplease, no MBS in strategy: This is neither a specializedfunction nor a bundle of analytical techniques.)
Beyond 40:40:20
notably that 40:40:20 formula of 40 percent of thetime on teaching, 40 percent on research, and 20
percent on administrative work? Given different abilitiesand inclinations, why not 90:0:10, or 20:60:20?

Critics On virtually every page references to other scholarly and
academic works is given. Mangers today may not get excitedabout where he gets his quotes or the concepts he addresses.
Nearly 200 pages criticizing the MBAeducation is overkill. Atsome point talking about why something is bad isnt helpful.
Detailed history of the growth of MBAschools (going back to1900) seems unnecessary.
Some MBAs make very good managers - of course that's true,Mintzberg does not say otherwise.
