Algonkian

Commuter Bus Advisory Board

I'm interested in serving as the Algonkian representative on the Commuter Bus Advisory Board. Many neighbors and voting members of the Algonkian District use these buses as a lifeline to places of employment, education, and service and I would like to ensure that our district is part of the decision making process surrounding the future of this vital public asset. I believe the next 5 years will be critical for Loudoun Transit as the Metrorail finally finds its way to our county. I don't believe this will be a negative for our Commuter Bus system, but in stead, an opportunity to showcase the terrific County in which we live and demonstrate leadership in the greater Washington DC Metropolitan area. I also have several ideas about how to make the Loudoun Transit more efficient, more effective, and to reduce life cycle costs so as to ensure the success and viability of our commuter bus system for decades to come.

2001-present: MD-11 Pilot FedEx Corporation. International experience in Europe, Asia, Australia, North and South America. Oversight of all candidate applications and interviews for admission to the USNA. 1990-2010: United States Naval Officer and Pilot. VP45, VP30, VP66. LCDR USNR (retired). Mission Commander, Instructor Pilot, Standardization Officer for P3C Orion. Metro Bus Commuter to the Navy's Bureau of Personnel when it was located in Arlington, VA Top Secret clearance while serving.

Young Life: 1990-present Served in roles of Volunteer Treasurer, Committee Member, Summer Staff Coordinator, Volunteer Leader Little League Baseball Coach: 2008-present Coached boys and girls in t-ball, minors, and majors baseball for Little League International in Palmer, Alaska and here in the Lower Loudoun Little League. Historic District Review Committee

I am requesting that the BOS consider my application for a second term to the Historic District Review Committee(HDRC).

During my first term I have enjoyed being an advocate for preservation in this county. I have attended severalpreservation conferences where I am always informed by the healthy and intelligent exchange of ideas. I alwaysreturn galvanized with the belief in preservation as an essential tool for intelligent economic development.

Ultimately, I am moved and privileged to participate in a public process that often finds itself weighing the valuesand rights of individuals with that of the public. The fact that such a process exists speaks to the wisdom of goodpublic policy. I believe I have adjudicated fairly during my term. I bring expertise to the process. However, Iremain a student of the issues.
