Ill: Grant Application, District 5 Benefit Ftmd

Dear Supervisor Kranz:

I have enclosed 3n application £m a $1,000 grant from your benefit flUld. You may rem.ember, whenI visited your office in June, you encouraged me to subm.it this application for the Colfax HighSchool aU-weather track project. As a long-time tcslcknt of the City of Colfax and a former studentand teacher at Colfax fIigh School, I have a long relationship with the track. As both an athlete inhigh school and a coach early in my teaching career, I experienced much frustration over the poordrainage and extended drying time thatcharacte.rized this facility.

Over a year ago, we began a local effoIt to raise .some money ",-ith the hope of finally bringing an allweather track to CoLfax High. The other. schools in out District (Foresthill, Placer, and Del Oro)already have such surfaces. TIle reason this is such a great addition to Colfax goes far beyond thefact that students will be able to use it year-round in their P.E. classes. Sporting teams will be able toimprove their overall fitness level hy training on the facility. The Colfax communityhfls long comeout to Marson Field and exercised after work; tIllS new facility will be available to them year round. The facility will also be useful fot the Col£'lxElcmcntary School, located 011 an adjoining parcel ofproperty. In recent years, due to the untime1yoccurrence ofspringr:J.ins, both the high school andeIemcntaiy school havc been forced to host their home meets atPlacer High School or another such.venue.

I have also enclosed a copy of the brochure we developed for this project. If I can provide you withany additional infotrl:Utlonabout this project, do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you fOt yoursupport.
