Research Background and Interests

Main area of research interests is in the field of soil-structure interaction problems with

mathematical modeling, numerical solution techniques and centrifuge model studies.

Applications of finite element formulations, limiting stress equilibrium methods, and centrifuge

studies have been developed in the areas of soft ground spiling tunnel reinforcement, oil storage

tank foundation reinforcement and deep excavation support systems.

Current research includes cast-in-drilled-hole-piles in sloping grounds, prefabricated wick drains

in compressible deposits, movement dependent lateral earth pressure development, generalized

plane strain method of geotechnical analysis, epoxy-coated reinforcing strip characterization,

landslide prevention, distressed bridge abutment reinforcement, bulkhead reinforcement, soil

failure criteria characterization, application of Expanded Polystyrene Blocks in geotechnical

engineering, soil dynamics of drag anchors, application of suction anchor piles in shallow/deep

water, embedded suction anchors for offshore structures, and asphalt pavement recycling through

full depth reclamation.
