    Season of Lent 2012

    What is Lent

Lent is the Christian season of preparation before Easter. In Western Christianity, Ash Wednesdaymarks the rst day, or the start of the season of Lent, which begins 40 days prior to Easter (Sundays are

not included in the count). Lent is a time when many Christians prepare for Easter by observing a peri-

od of fasting, repentance, moderation and spiritual discipline. The purpose is to set aside time for reec

tion onJesus Christ - his suering and his sacrice, his life, death, burial and resurrection. What is our Commitment during this Season?

The BGBC family will begin fasting from Wednesday, February 22 until Saturday, April 7, 2012,

6:00am-6:00pm. We encourage those who can to deny themselves of food each day of the fast. This is

for those person that do not have to take medication or have to eat because of health reasons. For thosewho cannot deny themselves of food, you are encouraged to deny yourselves of those things which

keep you from communing with God. Ex. TV, Social Sites, internet, telephone, games, etc... During th

fast, set aside time to read God's word, meditate, and increase your prayer life.

Mission: Our mission is to provide and respond to the social, and spiritual needs of the youth in our church and community, by providing them with soprograms, activities, and events that will allow them to be expressive in there faith which will be taught through the word of God, enabling them the ab

to use their gifts, and talents within established programs, and ministries.

Vision: To provide them with a safe, well rounded environment giving them the necessary tools that willenhance their physical, and spiritual growth. If we build to please ourselves, we are building on sand; if we bu

for the love of God, we are building on the Rock.~Oswald Chambers~

you, plans to give you a hope and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Free Teens & Youth Ministry will properly nurture and educate the youth, by making provisions that willmotivate, uplift, encourage, and support all those they encounter. Within Free Teens we will focus on meing the needs of the youth, along with creating positive resources that will empower, implement and broa

    their character.

These are just a few of the accomplishments that have been already established with Free Teens. They have made a decision that as long as they are apaof Free Teens they will remain free from any negativity that would be presented to them. They have established a group set of rules that each youth

    member must abide by.

Since the start of Free Teens the group has collectively come up with a group name. The name chosenBGBC Top Level Above the Influence, is the MOTTO suggested by one of our very own, Nazir. Win every group setting, there is level of comfort that need to be address, especially when speaking. Onethe icebreakers to get each person involved was by introducing themselves with an adjective. This littl

    icebreaker was fun, and entertaining.

Within Free Teens, we will focus on the physical, and social needs of each youth member, along with th

goals set forth in the program, and youth ministry.

While getting to know them individually, and collectively we had each person list 3 things that they woike to change about himself or herself, or someone else on an index card. We also had the list 3 things that they would like to change in society. Theyhave really stepped up and demonstrated how excited they are about take part in such an amazing program. Each Friday we hope to incorporate, and dvelop each child with, informal settings that would include spoken word, rap, dance, singing, and recreation with a holistic approach that will be designeadvance there relationship with Jesus. There will also be some one on one sessions that will give each child an opportunity to express there interest, an

concerns. We will also provide light refreshments before session begins. So please make sure your child/children eat before attending Free Teens Grou

Free Teens have already demonstrated their interest into the program. They are ready to make a differ

ence, and remain above the influence. They are willing to open up, learn, and grow each week. S

ter Jewel, and I look forward to working with Free Teens & the Youth Ministry at BCBC. Msure you look out for more information on FREE TEENS- BGBC TOP Level above the influ-

ence, and youth ministry as they develop their God given gifts, talents, skills and abilities.

Do you have a relaonship with Christ?Christs desire is to have an eternal relationship with you.

He longs to give you a satisfying and meaningful life on

earth and unending life in heaven .ABCs of Salvation

    A. Admit you are a sinner.

"There is no one righteous, not even one ... for all havesinned and fall short of the glory of God."

    Romans 3:10,23. (See Romans 5:8; 6:23.)

Ask God's forgiveness."Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be

    saved."Romans 10:13

    B. Believe in Jesus

(put your trust in Him) as your only hope of salvation.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and onlySon, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but

have eternal life." John 3:16 (See John 14:6.)

    C. Confess that Jesus is your Lord."If you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and be-

lieve in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you

will be saved." Romans 10:9Prayer of Salvation:

Dear GodI know that I am a sinner, and I repent of my sins. Thank

you for Your Son Jesus, dying for me and thank You for

    raising Him from the dead.

Now by faith, I ask you Jesus to come into my heart and

save me. I accept him as my Savior and LordThank you God, for saving me. In the name ofJesus, I

    prayAmen.

    Why Should I Attend Church?

    1) It is an Expression of our Love for God

Going to church is a visible, tangible expression of our love

and worship toward God. It is where we can gather with

other believers to publicly bear witness of our faith and trust

n God, something that is required of all Christians (Matt.10:32-33) -- and it is where we can bring Him offerings of

praise, thanks, and honor, which are pleasing to Him.

    (2) It builds up our Spiritual Strength

Receiving the preaching and teaching of the Word of God

increases our faith and builds us up spiritually. Every

believer knows what it is to face spiritual conflicts to their

faith, and must realize the importance of being fed spiritu-ally so that they can overcome the challenges. Paul states

that Christians face a wrestling match with the Devil and

his evil spiritual forces, and warns that the church must

put on spiritual armor for protection, as it will take every-

    3) It brings a special visitation of the Lords Presence

There is the promise of a special visitation of the Lords

presence whenever two or more gather specifically in the

name of Jesus. By implication, this means whenever

Jesus is the object of gathered prayer, worship, praise,

preaching, etc. Even though Jesus resides within the heart

of every believer, he honors a gathering in his name by

coming in the midst, with his power, awareness, and

anointing. In such a gathering, Christ is able to do things in

hearts that he may not at any other time.

    (4) It provides fellowship with other Christians

Gathering together also has compounded importance to

the relationship of the Christian brethren. The Bible

makes it clear that a right relationship with God requires a

vertical and horizontal alignment that is, we must

have a vertical fellowship with God and a horizontal

fellowship with other believers. It is not possible to love

God and refuse to love the brethren. If you have a prob-

lem loving other Christians, you have a problem in your

    relationship with God.
