17 November 2015 We are so very proud of our school community: the children, parents and carers, and staff. As we approach the end of the year we are busy arranging our end of year celebrations and planning for next year. As we have a larger number of students graduating this year, we will not be able to include any of our Year 1 – 5 children as part of the audience for the Graduation Ceremony. Siblings of the graduands will need to be signed out, and supervised, by parents as part of their ticket allocation. With over 200 family members attending, we simply cannot fit in any other children. However, we do have a solution; one that I am particularly excited about. The last assembly of the year (Thursday 3 December) will feature all of the Year 6 students. It will be their chance to farewell, and be farewelled by, the rest of the school. This assembly will be our informal celebration and send-off of the graduating classes of 2015. It will be amazing and the beginning of a new tradition at Beeliar. School Disco The P&C conducted a very successful disco on Friday evening with the help of a combined group of parent and staff volunteers, and our extraordinary student leaders. The kids had a ball and I thank everyone for their amazing efforts. Sometimes the outcome is more about the event provided to the kids and not the amount of funds raised although we are very appreciative of them as well. In-School Swimming Program Swimming commences next week and for the first time in a long time we look like having lovely weather for the lessons. Further details of the program are in the letter accompanying this newsletter. Using the play equipment during pick-up times We are all about keeping our children safe and learning while they are at school. This includes during parent pick-up times. Please keep your younger children with you and do not allow them on the play equipment when you are picking up your older children. In addition, unsupervised children on our equipment can lead to accidents and we do not want to see any child hurt while they are at school. Parent Morning Tea We are fast approaching the end of the year and a myriad of celebrations to acknowledge the achievements and contributions of our students, staff and parents. One of the events planned is the ‘thank you’ morning tea for parents. All parents who have given any time to the school whether it was on-site or at home making ‘stuff’ for us are invited to the school for morning tea on Wednesday 9 December. We would like to be able to recognise your efforts on behalf staff and students. Details of the morning tea are included in this newsletter. Open Board Meeting As published in the last newsletter, an open School Board Meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday 1 December. All are welcome to attend. To ensure that Board members are prepared and can address your concerns immediately, it would be appreciated if you email any questions you’d like the Board to consider to [email protected] by COB Friday 27 November 2015. The Beeliar P.S. worms have been busy making ‘tea’

and we will have plenty available for purchase at

this week’s assembly.

Treat your garden to a bottle of tea for $1.00 and

help our environment by dropping off your empty

worm tea bottles to the front office.

Proceeds will go to our sister school in Cambodia.

For your information and forward planning Beeliar Primary School will hold its School Development Days (Pupil Free Days) on the following dates. An extra day has been provided to schools to support teachers and staff to implement Phase 2 of the Australian Curriculum. We have chosen to use this day at the beginning of Term 3. Billy (TA16) recently travelled to Singapore for The Singa Cup Soccer Tournament, representing Cockburn City U12's. He played against teams from all over the world and his best moment was his team beating AC Milan Academy 1-0. One of the matches went to a penalty shoot-out, Billy scored a great goal with his left foot into the corner of the net. They didn't win overall in their group but had a wonderful experience and a touch of what it is like to be a professional soccer

I would like to thank all Year 5 parents who gave consent for their child to take part in the filming of speaking and listening samples for the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCASA). Beeliar Primary School was asked to provide some Year 5 speaking and listening samples to support teachers across Western Australia when reporting student achievement against the Western Australian Curriculum.

SCASA reported that the Year 5 students did a fantastic job and provided outstanding samples. Well done Year 5’s!

Our assembly was all

about friendship

problems and how too

solve them on our

own. In the short skit

the children of Beeliar

Primary School were

happily playing, then

everyone started

fighting. Luckily the

head girl Kalia played

by Ellenor reminded all

the children that we

don’t always need

Steve, but can rely on

ourselves.

Our assembly was

really fun! It was a

big challenge to

complete a 5 page

script in 4 weeks,

but we got through

it.

school amazing and looking after the finances of the P&C.

You are going to be sadly missed.

We wish you well in your next adventure.

We need your help!

Our P&C relies on ‘super star’ volunteers to be part of our team and you

could be one of them!

Our AGM is on the 2 December in the staff room and we are looking for

people to fill committee positions for 2016. The P&C is a great network

of parents who work to help make a difference in our school!!

We have many positions to fill so if you think you would make a good

Secretary, Treasurer or Communications Coordinator come along. Or

nominate someone!

Join the team! We have a great time and our kids love us being part of

our school community!
