P.O. Box 2794 Spartanburg, SC 29304 www.begreatupstate.org Your Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to helping kids succeed in school, friendship, and good health. We need your help to keep serving over 1000 students a day and to grow our reach to those who do not have a Club of their own. Spartanburg’s children, especially those from low income homes, face tremendous challenges to their future prosperity. Our own prosperity as a community will be so much more if we help every kid do their best. Today in Spartanburg County, 58% of our public school students are considered poor by the Department of Education. On the most recent state test 1 in 3 poor students failed. Among higher income homes, only 1 in 10 failed the tests. All of our schools are delivering a good educational opportunity to every student, yet not every student is taking advantage of that education. We know that our Clubs move the needle for students attending high poverty schools. Our Boys & Girls Clubs are proven to cut the failure rate of at-risk youth in half. Years of research show that Club members are twice as likely to be proficient in math and one and a half times more likely to be proficient in language arts than their same school peers. Our challenge is to get more Clubs open in more schools. We need your help to sustain our work and reach more kids. Thank you, Dr. Benjamin Snoddy Chairman of the Board

Your Boys & Girls Club is dedicated to helping kids succeed in school,

friendship, and good health. We need your help to keep serving over 1000

students a day and to grow our reach to those who do not have a Club of their

own. Spartanburg’s children, especially those from low income homes, face

tremendous challenges to their future prosperity. Our own prosperity as a

community will be so much more if we help every kid do their best.

Today in Spartanburg County, 58% of our public school students are

considered poor by the Department of Education. On the most recent state test 1

in 3 poor students failed. Among higher income homes, only 1 in 10 failed the

tests. All of our schools are delivering a good educational opportunity to every

student, yet not every student is taking advantage of that education. We know

that our Clubs move the needle for students attending high poverty schools.

Our Boys & Girls Clubs are proven to cut the failure rate of at-risk youth in

half. Years of research show that Club members are twice as likely to be

proficient in math and one and a half times more likely to be proficient in

language arts than their same school peers. Our challenge is to get more Clubs

open in more schools. We need your help to sustain our work and reach more

kids.

Thank you,

Dr. Benjamin Snoddy Chairman of the Board
