WELCOME FROM THE PRINCIPAL

This November saw the beginning of a new chapter in the story of Further Education in north London, with the creation of Barnet and Southgate College.

This brochure tells you about some of the hundreds of full time courses we have on offer and is primarily aimed at school leavers or those students exploring which full time courses maybe available to progress them into their future education and career. Our students come from a wide variety of backgrounds, from across London and beyond, and we believe that the newly merged Barnet and Southgate College has something to offer everyone.

The Corporations of the former Barnet and Southgate colleges realised we were serving the same catchment area. The new merged college will maintain the vision of its predecessors; delivering high-quality education and training to improve the economic and social welfare of all our students, boosting the economy of the north London area while doing so.

Coming together allows us to do this even more effectively: we had already been ranked as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in many areas, and I am confident the new college, which even better serves the needs of students, employers and the local community, will be able to build on that endorsement.

We boast five campuses spread across north London, and offer courses as diverse as our student body: from GCSEs and A Levels to professional qualifications and Higher Education, from basic maths and literacy to vocational training in everything from catering and construction to hairdressing and vehicle paint spraying.

I hope this brochure answers your questions about the role of Barnet and Southgate College in the community, and that you will join us in celebrating this historic moment.

Marilyn HawkinsPrincipal and Chief Executive
