Home News Venues & Events The Barbican to host James Bond evening for clients’ eyes only

Category: Venues & Events Created on Wednesday, 04 November 2015 10:00

The Barbican has been given a license to thrill as it hosts an evening dedicated to James Bond for clients culminating in a screening of the latest blockbuster

in the franchise ‘Spectre’.

The Bond evening is being run in partnership with Searcys and will see key and valued clients from across the Searcys portfolio invited to attend the event on

Thursday, 5th November.

Guests will be treated to drinks in the Garden Room before enjoying the screening of Spectre in Cinema 1. Following the film Searcys will be showcasing its catering with

guests having the opportunity to network while enjoying the latest food and drink innovations in the conservatory.

The Bond evening has been arranged as a Searcys celebration of the company successfully retaining the catering contract for events at the Barbican.

Johanna Byrane, head of sales at Searcys said: “We are delighted to be hosting this event in conjunction with the Barbican. We have built a strong partnership with the team

over recent years and we are thrilled that we are able to continue to work successfully together in the future.

“With Searcys and the Barbican being iconic British brands, I can think of no better event to mark the occasion than a film that includes one of the biggest brands in the

world – Bond. We hope that our, and the Barbican’s, guests enjoy our showing of ‘Spectre’.”

“The Barbican has had a great affinity with Bond since we hosted the ‘Designing 007: Fifty years of Bond style’ exhibition back in 2012,” comments Jackie Boughton, Head

of Sales at Barbican Business Events. “This event will not only celebrate one of fiction’s greatest characters but introduces clients to the fantastic event spaces on offer here

at the Barbican. We’re sure the martinis on offer will leave attendees shaken, but not stirred ahead of the tours and film.

“Spectre is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2015 so where better to watch it than the Barbican? You only live twice after all...”

The Barbican is aiming to continue the expansion of its international appeal next week by promoting special packages and offers at ibtm world 2015.

Situated on the London & Partners stand, the Barbican is promoting a host of opportunities for international buyers and delegates to experience some of the

most unique and culturally impressive event spaces in Europe.

“We have seen our international presence continue to grow over the past couple of years and ibtm offers us a real opportunity to continue that trend,” comments Oliver

Hargreaves, Deputy Head of Sales at the Barbican. “We have many venue improvements due in 2016 which will only reinforce our position as Europe’s largest combined

conference and arts venue. The packages and availability we have to offer ibtm attendees is really exciting and we’re expecting another fantastic show.”

2016 offers and availability to be showcased at ibtm world include:

- Barbican Theatre availability in March & April;

- Remaining Barbican Hall dates;

- £10 off all daily delegate rates for new bookings in January, February and March;

- Art of Development corporate training packages;

Home News Awards The Barbican awarded 4 star rating by the Venue Standard

Category: Awards Created on Wednesday, 18 November 2015 12:00

The Barbican has been awarded with a 4 star certificate from the Venue Standard following a rigorous assessment process put in place by the industry

standard.

The certificate acknowledges high standards in both operational processes and procedures throughout the Barbican. The assessment also recognises a

dedication to ensuring memorable experiences for delegates and clients whilst delivering excellence as a quality venue.

“The 4 star rating given to us by the Venue Standard is recognition of the standard of venue, facilities and service that we offer to our clients,” comments Lee Dobson, Head

of Event Management at the Barbican. “Not only does it highlight what we have done well but it also gives us a solid platform on which we can build. With many venue

improvements to come in the summer of 2016, we are confident that we can continue to exceed client expectations.”

The Venue Standard is designed to help organisers and planners identify what standard of venue they are dealing with. Similar to hotels and restaurants, the Venue Standard

is a rating based on specific criteria that has been checked and verified by Excellence Squared, a UKAS accredited body.

"Congratulations to the Barbican on being recognised with a 4 star rating for the Venue Standard,” comments Gary Swarbrooke, from the Excellence Squared. “Achieving

this level of Venue Standard is a real accolade to the way the Barbican develops and delivers its services with the customer in mind. The Standard does a quality assessment

against customer feedback, physical appearance, service delivery and administration. The Barbican has every reason to be proud of their recognition as a quality venue in

London”
