Group 2: LRT Line 1
Content-wise, we think the group covered majority of the current problems with LRT
1. They have touched the excessive foot-traffic that goes through the stations and
how the inefficient system and obviously sub-par facilities are not able to handle the
crowd that commutes through this line every single day.
While the problems were identified to a significant extent, the group however has a
few concerns regarding the presenting group’s recommendations;
1. Regarding the proposed “waiting area” for the passengers – this could prove
to be challenging and almost impossible to achieve because of space
considerations. Considering the fact that LRT 1 operates above-ground and
not as subways, accommodating these improvements might be too costly
and quite possibly be impossible.
2. Instead of the aforementioned proposal, recommendations as to the increase
in lines/routes should be prioritised. Simultaneously, they also need to
increase the number of trains that travel through the busiest lines in order to
better accommodate the commuters. This way, passengers need not wait for
very long because their trains are travelling efficiently.
3. Improve train scheduling so as to maximize travel time and number of
passengers served.
4. Improve ticketing process as well. Tickets should be made available in other
outlets aside from the stations alone.
5. Since the presenting team has also emphasized on the problems with
security such as snatchers and even extreme crimes like bombing,
improvement of the security system should ..........
In terms of the manner of reporting, though skits are creative ways to capture
attention, the group thinks the presenters could have been more effective and
straightforward. Aside from that, we think the main reporters were presentable and
conducted themselves appropriately for the report.
