Computer Aided Design Basic 2D

Course Description

The CAD training is aimed at aeronautical charting specialists with little or no

prior computer aided drafting experience. At the end of the course the students

will have sufficient knowledge of Bentley MicroStation to be able to use the

relevant parts of the application effectively to create 2D drawings.

Course Description

The smartGlobe Designer training is aimed at the aeronautical cartographer,

who will configure, set up and maintain charts. This three-day course will cover

functionality related to the creation, amendment and publishing of database

generated charts. The CAD Basic 2D course is a prerequisite for this course.

Course Description

This 2-day training course covers the configuration of chart templates,

grids and graticules, symbols and annotation labels. The MicroStation Basic 2D

Course Description

The smartGlobe Administrator training is aimed at the System Administrator who

will be responsible for installation and maintenance of the smartGlobe system.

This three-day course will cover the system architecture, database concepts as

well as configuration of server and client systems.

SmartGlobe client/server model;

ARINC 424 and the smartGlobe data model;

Database implementation and user management;

Check / preparation of the client/server environment;

Configuration data model;

Production management data model;

Initialise smartGlobe database, adding tablespaces,

Course Description

The Path & Terminator coding course has been designed as an introduction to

database coding of Instrument Flight procedures. This four-day course will cover

the ARINC 424 Path & Terminator theory as well as its practical application in

IAP, SID and STAR procedures.

Course Description

The aim of the training course is to familiarize novice cartographers with

the relevant standards and recommended practices as defined in ICAO Annex

4 and the ICAO Chart Manual Doc 8697, as well as its application in a Bentley

MicroStation Computer Aided Design environment.

The course has been designed as a custom course, allowing for some flexibility

to enable the trainer to respond to the student’s experience

level and specific questions and issues that student’s may bring forward.
