This past week a former campus ministry student and his wife were Blessed with the birth of their first child, a little girl. Tragically, she passed away three days later. In the midst of their grief they posted the following on Facebook: “She died peacefully in her sleep (SIDS). She was called home early and God could not wait to hold her in his arms again. The celebration service is tentatively scheduled for this Saturday. Our hearts are broken but our spirits are at peace. Thanks to everyone for your love, support, and encouragement.” (“Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13,14) I am humbled by their public profession of faith, in the midst of this personal tragedy. These young heroes of the faith should be shining examples to all of us about how faith in Jesus Christ, and the sure and certain knowledge of the Resurrection helps us handle anything that this broken world can throw at us. (“For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38,39) Please pray for them as they lay their little girl to rest this weekend, and honor her memory by remembering the example of the faith of her parents every day. Each day children come to preschool they learn new things about the world around them and hear how much Jesus loves them. As we head back to school we ask that you remember Lamb of God Preschool in your prayers and in your envelope offering contributions. We greatly appreciate your support!
