Big conglomerate film companies such as warner bros, universal or paramount target audiences in various ways depending on the genre on the type of film being produced for example if DreamWorks were making a children's film A) the genre will be comedy or adventure like ice age but

will collaborate with McDonald's and create toys of the characters such as Sid the sloth or Diego the Sabretooth.

Furthermore, if the producer want to produce a film with the genre for example Action. They would use similar

conventions which would be very stereotypical of an action to have fighting in it and exploding cars or a car chase an

example of this would be bad boys.

HOW ARE AUDIENCES TARGETED

Film companies usually produce animated films for children and conglomerates tend to target children from the ages of 4-12 and the

genre tends to be adventure and comedy films such as tangled did this well and did well at the box office or films like Shrek was such as

success produces turned it into a franchise making a trilogy and the seasonal film Shrek the halls.

AGE

The Female audience are thought or believed to have particular films with the genres such as Romance or Romantic-Comedy. Because the lead role in romantic comedies are usually played by the woman and its mainly about her trying to find love or romance with the man of her dreams and women believe they can connect with the character by

sympathising with her or see her as a role model.The opposite of this is that the male audience tend to favour the action genre the most as is more masculine and gets their hearts racing and

suspense of whats going to happens gets them going.

GENDER

The racial background of a film is important it will impact on the ideology and the message the film portrays. For example Slumdog millionaire is about an

young Asian 18 who lives in slums of Mumbai India to cut a long story short he wins the Indian version of who wants to be a millionaire. A theme of film is fate

and who you can overcome your obstacles. Bearing in mind the film is about Indians in particular the film would've mainly attracted many Asians in particular

Indians who could actually connect with the film or maybe they have similar story in relation to jamal mailik (actor in slumdog millionaire) or have ever lived

in the slums or even aftricans.
