WELCOME to the third week of the Easter season! From Pastor John: In the Palm Sunday sermon I noted that God is nudging us to be more mindful of our mortality. We live in a death-denying culture. And the corona virus- with massive death tolls is shaking many to the core. Life is not supposed to be like that. In the face of this I sense an opportunity to look at life and death from a Biblical perspecve. You call us to be fully alive with your life abundant, ready to listen and respond with heart, soul, strength, and mind. We listen, alive to the Word of God. You call us to be always watchful for your Word of wisdom, sometimes startling and unexpected, sometimes still and quiet, but always dwelling among us. We watch and wait for the Word of God.

1 We come, O Christ, to you, true Son of God and man, by whom all things consist, in whom all life began. In you alone we live and move and have our being in your love.

2 You are the way to God, your blood our ransom paid; in you we face our Judge and Maker unafraid. Before the throne absolved we stand; your love has met your law's demand.

3 You are the living truth; all wisdom dwells in you, the source of every skill,

the one eternal True! O great I AM! in you we rest, sure answer to our every quest.

4 You only are true life to know you is to live the more abundant life that earth can never give. O risen Lord! we live in you: in us each day your life renew!

5 We worship you, Lord Christ, our Savior and our King; to you our youth and strength adoringly we bring: so fill our hearts that all may view your life in us and turn to you!

God calls us to worship him: In your wisdom, O God, you call us here to worship you.

We gather, alive to the Word of God.

You call us to be fully alive with your life abundant,

ready to listen and respond with heart, soul, strength, and mind.

We listen, alive to the Word of God.

You call us to be always watchful for your Word of wisdom,

sometimes startling and unexpected, sometimes still and quiet,

but always dwelling among us.

We watch and wait for the Word of God.

Prayer:

Almighty God, whom truly to know is everlasting life:

Grant us so perfectly to know your Son Jesus Christ

to be the way, the truth, and the life,

that we may steadfastly follow his

steps in the way that leads to eternal life;

through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives

and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

one God, for ever and ever.

Amen.

God’s Greeting:

You whom I took from the ends of the earth,

and called from its farthest corners, saying to you,

“You are my servant, I have chosen you and not cast you off”;

do not fear, for I am with you,

do not be afraid, for I am your God;

I will strengthen you, I will help you,

I will uphold you with my victorious right hand.

Isaiah 41:9-10, NRSV

Saved by Grace (Some day the Silver Cord will Break) click here

Some day the silver cord will break, And I no more as now shall sing; But, O the joy when I shall wake Within the presence of the King!

And I shall see Him face to face, And tell the story, saved by grace: And I shall see Him face to face, And tell the story, saved by grace.

Some day my earthly house will fall, I cannot tell how soon ’twill be, But this I know—my All in all Has now a place with Him for me.

Or some day when my Lord will come, And called to meet Him I’ll be blest, He then will say to me, “Well done,” And I shall enter into rest.

Some day, till then I’ll watch and wait, My lamp all trimmed and burning bright, That when my Savior I will greet, My faith will then be changed to sight.

I Will Rise click here

There's a peace I've come to know

Though my heart and flesh may fail

There's an anchor for my soul

I can say "It is well"

Jesus has overcome

And the grave is overwhelmed

The victory is won

He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name

No more sorrow, no more pain

I will rise on eagles' wings

Before my God fall on my knees

And rise

I will rise

There's a day that's drawing near

When this darkness breaks to light

And the shadows disappear

And my faith shall be my eyes

Jesus has overcome

And the grave is overwhelmed

The victory is won

He is risen from the dead

And I will rise when He calls my name

No more sorrow, no more pain

I will rise on eagles' wings

Before my God fall on my knees

And rise

I will rise

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,

"Worthy is the Lamb"

And I hear the cry of every longing heart,

"Worthy is the Lamb"

And I will rise when He calls my name

No more sorrow, no more pain

I will rise on eagles' wings

Before my God fall on my knees

And rise

I will rise
