Week Beginning Work Completed

Summer HolidaysMonday 8th September In this week I was introduced to AS media, my teacher explained what

we were going to be doing throughout the course.Monday 15th September I created hand drawn drafts for the school magazine (preliminary

task) to help me plan the layout.Monday 22rd September Researched into my target audience to help me with what to include in

my magazine to attract them. After doing some research tasks on what makes a magazine attractive for its consumers, I began making preparations for my preliminary task.

Monday 29th September I was ready to start creating my school magazine pages; so I went on

Dafont.com and looked for an appropriate font that fit the purpose for my magazine. When I found the right font, I went on Photoshop and started working on the front cover. The name of my school magazine was ‘The Break through’ and I used the font that I downloaded from Dafont.com in the masthead.

Monday 6th October By this stage, I had nearly finished my front cover magazine in terms of placing the important codes and conventions that a magazine should have. Such as the cover lines, masthead, barcode, and strapline. I then took plenty of pictures for my front cover and edited them on Photoshop using the quick mask tool, so that the image was at a good standard.

Monday 13th October At this point I was in the middle of the preliminary task, trying to complete it before half term. I made a start on the contents page and copied conventions from my front cover to the contents. I took pictures for the contents page; just like the contents page I edited the chosen picture to make a good standard.

Monday 20st October By now I completed the preliminary task and I received feedback from my teacher, to make changes over the half term.

Half Term

Monday 3th November During the half term break, I made my changes to my preliminary and using the experience and skills gained from preparing and then performing the preliminary task, I felt that I was ready for the main task which was the production of the music magazine.

Monday 10th November Before I began the main task, I started working on my Logbook. I completed the preliminary part of the Logbook and began to work on the part, which required existing media product research. I did research on a magazine called The source, which gave me an insight to what I needed to include in my magazine.

Monday 17th November I progressed with the logbook and researched about The Source magazine. I was in the middle of my Logbook, which was collecting information about the XXL magazine - my magazine of inspiration. I was going to use this magazine to guide me when producing my music front cover, contents page and double page spread.

Monday 24th November I was towards the end of the Logbook and was started looking into the publisher of XXL. I began doing the hand drawn draft for the music magazine pages, to help me visualize where I was going to put the codes and conventions included in a music magazine. Then I made a start on the front cover; by putting in the conventions know to a magazine. For example cover lines, convergence and Masthead etc.

Monday 1nd December It took me longer than I thought to sort out the layout for my front cover because I initially used my hand drawn draft to organise the page, however I after thinking about it and looking at more examples of existing magazines, I rearranged the layout. I took plenty of pictures for my front cover and finally chose one; felt like I was in a position to move on to the contents page.

Monday 8th December The contents page was slightly easier because most of the codes and conventions were in the front cover, so all I had to do was copy and paste them over; obviously adding the required conventions that are

included in a contents pages, I did my editorial in word so if I made any grammatical or spelling mistakes word would tell me.

Monday 15th December I edited the main image for the contents page using Photoshop; I also refined the edges of the photo because they were looking rough. I also managed to complete the front cover page and I was happy with what I had produced because it took a lot of thought and time.

Christmas Holidays

Monday 5th January I took pictures for my double page spread, however I didn’t get time to edit the picture because I was concentrating on the information on the page. I started on my interview and did 6 questions and 6 answers, I typed up the story to introduce my interviewee and used the pen tool I carefully went around the image and put the text around the image; I made sure to put important conventions such as the drop capital at the beginning of the paragraph.

Monday 12th January Did the editor letters letter on word for the contents page then copied and pasted it on Photoshop. I had previously had a picture of myself, which I had used for my editors picture, then I took another picture for my contents page for the editorial and added sections to the cover lines because the layout was looking messy; also completed the contents page after placing all of the conventional features. I finished the questionnaire for the double page spread as well.

Monday 19th January I began to think about completing my logbook. Then I started editing the picture for the double page spread, and I just re-arranged the layout because I didn’t like it. I really struggle with the editing of the picture because the hair was curly and the background was white which was difficult when using the quick mask tool, so spent quite a lot of hours doing that to make sure it was at a good standard.

Monday 9th February I did further research towards the planning and research for the publisher of XXL magazine and managed to complete my logbook. I did the audience profile sheet on this day as well.

Monday 16th February Finally I finished my double page spread even though it was late I worked hard on it and put in extra time to make sure everything was correct. I started working on the step-by-step guide to how I created the front cover contents page and double page spread (the evaluation).

Monday 23 February I was doing the evaluation this whole week and I answered the 6 question that need to be answered and extra information to how I produced my music pages, such as planning of the pictures and so on.

Monday 2nd March Completed the logbook, evaluation and production work, so I put everything on the blog page. I tried to make the blog page as unique as possible.
