Arctic Monkeys

Within the last year when the Arctic Monkeys released their 5th album ‘AM’ they have strongly branded themselves

through their music videos and appearance.

Their genre of music is Alternative/Rock. Their style of music is also reflected through their appearance connoting a cool, rock image. Intersexuality can also be seen ,as the

lead singer’s (Alex Turner) hair style is similar to Elvis Presley's.

Their simplistic album cover creates a strong brand identity as it is easily recognised from other artists style.

Here are screen shots from the music video ‘Do I Wanna Know?’ from their latest album ‘AM’. This music video

illustrates a strong coherence as the graphics in the music video are very similar and matches to the albums

cover art.

In addition synaesthesia is used at 2:15 when the lyrics are “simmer

down and pucker up” which amplifies and illustrates the music, also

creating coherence.

In their music video for ‘Arabella’ many close ups are used during the

bands performance which is common for Alternative/Rock music videos, as well as using short takes to cut to the

beat of the song.
