style Investigates the boundaries between the private and the public, a domain of
specific importance to his native Japanese culture. His videos are often based on performances and constructed scenarios. He places characters, played by
himself or others, in awkward situations. Often starting harmoniously he gradually heightens the tension manipulating the situation from humorous to painful. His works also include drawings and
collages.

About Marie Cloquet is a Belgian artist that finished her education in the LUCA School of Arts in 1998 in Ghent.

Marie Cloquet found her inspiration in the West African country of Mauritania, where she became fascinated with Nouadhibou. She discovered a ‘world under
the radar’ there and saw it as a scale model of current world issues. Many photographs were made there and she uses them as sketches to create her
monumental landscapes on the canvas. Cloquet does not speak in symbols, but rather in images.

About Guy Rombouts is a Belgian visual artist that lives and works in Antwerp.

In the 1980’s, he created his own alphabet named ‘Azart’. This is an alphabet where letters take the shape of a line, that is related to a word, a sound and/or
a color. He designed a new computer program, that allows its users to view their own words differently. Colourful clouds of meaning will appear when entering
any list of words. The Azart computer programme was made after the alphabet's completion. Its main object being that of visualizing the natural Azart writing activity - a major
constraint, on the one hand, but also a great opportunity to investigate the natural creative process.1

Paul Beumer’s painterly practice oscillates freely between figuration and abstraction, but in the past few years gained a specific focus on the relationship and dichotomies between Western and Asian approaches to landscape painting
and nature. Steering away from the conventions of the brush and canvas his works are made on a variation of loose cloths. He engages ink or chlorine and
manual resist-dyeing techniques to produce abstract patterns that feel like faint memories of Western High Modernism.

family history. In this work, he analyses patterns and models of urbanisation, and the role they play in framing and perceiving the “other”. In urbanised

Libro de los Plagios Libro de los Plagios explores the nature of autorship and appropiation. It
consists of large charcoal drawings based on images from the homonymous book. This polemical book was published in 1991 by the Basque sculptor Oteiza,
as an indictment of what he perceived to be a flagrant plagiarism of his work. The autor illustrated his texts with black and white photography of abstract
modernist sculptures, juxtaposing the work of other artist with his own.

HARM WEISTRA & EDDI BAL
About Harm Weistra studied Visual Arts at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam and the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where he graduated in
2011. He holds an MA in Social Sciences from Utrecht University. Eddi Bal is an Amsterdam based filmmaker and video artist. His work has been
shown from Moscow to New York.

Harm Weistra & Eddi Bal’s collaborative installation Requiem for a Falling Man pay tribute to any of the unidentified gay men who were thrown off buildings by
ISIS. The central focus of this installation is the animation Echo of Falling Man that can be seen as an afterimage. By mirroring the iconic Richard Drew photo of a ‘falling man’, who jumped from the World Trade Center during the 9/11
attacks in New York, the work refers to the relationship between the Al-Qaeda attacks in New York and the terror ISIS spreads in the Middle East. The
installation Requiem for a Falling Man is meant as a ceremonious farewell, not only for this unidentified Syrian but also for all the gay men who did not survive
the terrorism of ISIS.

Marijke De Roover, Belgian artist born 1990, is a queer performer addressing issues related to the nuclear family, motherhood, ethics of reproduction, queer
and more generally her societal role as a woman. Using very personal experience and pop culture musical features, her karaoke-like and pseudo
fairytale inspired songs make use of irony to generate empathy around more serious topics. Marijke invites the viewer to hilarious but not simplistic settings
and highlights current poignant questions around gender.

According to Armen Eloyan, a good painting is like a good joke, the pieces have to come together. With his characteristic dark humor, colourful paint and thick
black contours, Eloyan reveals a dystopian world where things are thrown out of balance, confronting the viewer with existential questions. Combining
influences from street art and animated cartoons with references to great pioneers in painting such as Willem De Kooning and Philip Guston, Armen

The tapestry is a translation of a French 18th century tapestry of which the original image has been made unreadable by the artist, touches on the memory but also on the power of transformation. About Arne Quinze was born in 1971 in Belgium. In the eighties he began working as a graffiti artist but he never finished an official art education.

Quinze creates large and small sculptures, drawings, paintings, and large-scale installations. Smaller works, sketches, and drawings are the basis and research for his large installations.
