From the President Welcome to the first Arana United Futsal Club (AUFC) newsletter for 2015.

The 2014/15 summer season has reached its halfway point and has proven to be our most dynamic season yet. With record player numbers

and new development programs in place we have now set the foundation for more growth in 2015.

Due to limited court time slots at the Hills District PCYC we have begun using the Ferny Grove State High School as an additional venue for the Friday night 11/12yrs competition. This venue has been

excellent with electronic scoreboard, nice playing surface, good lighting and ventilation and has met our needs nicely.

The remainder of the competitions are played at the PCYC with the 13/14yrs playing on Friday nights and the 9/10yrs, Girls, 15/16yrs, Youth and Seniors all

playing on Sundays. Seventeen back to back games are played on Sundays and we have always remained on schedule with every game starting on time. This is due to the efficient manner the games are managed by our club officials and referees.

I am very proud of what we have achieved as a club, so please read on to find out more about the

programs implemented this season.

Barry McErlean (President)

2014/15 Season Review In 2014/15 AUFC is using two venues, the Hills District PCYC and the Ferny Grove State High School. We have in excess of 400 players with 52 teams. Break down of numbers is as follows:

- 9/10yrs 4 teams (PCYC)

- 11/12yrs 6 teams (FGSHS)

- 13/14yrs 10 teams (PCYC)

- 15/16yrs 8 teams (PCYC)

- Youth 9 teams (PCYC)

- Mixed Seniors 11 teams (PCYC)

- Girls 4 teams (PCYC)

11 rounds of competition have been played, that’s 286 games of futsal and each game has started on

time. This is another example of the efficient and professional manner our club is managed each week. We ask that teams arrive in plenty of time to get match sheets and fees sorted out as the game will start on time regardless.

Fees have remained the same since 2010 and we remain the cheapest futsal club in North Brisbane.

We have seen some real quality futsal being played at times, and for most part we have seen excellent player and spectator conduct. Please keep this up!

Youth Division Restructure From the recommencement of the current season in January 2015 there will be some changes to the structure of the girls, 15/16yrs and Youth competitions. One of the girls teams has withdrawal due to NPL football pre-season commitments. This means that the remaining girls teams have been amalgamated into the 15/16yrs competition. The bottom 3 15/16yrs teams will merge with the girls teams to create a new Youth Division 3 competition. The remaining 15/16yrs teams will now be called

Youth Division 2. The bottom three Youth teams will drop into this competition. The remaining top 6 Youth teams will now be called Youth Division 1. The end result is that teams are now placed in better competitions for their skill level and all three youth divisions have even numbers meaning no byes. Check website for draws.

Senior Division Restructure Changes have been made to the 2014/15 summer draw. After the Christmas break games will resume on 1st Feb 2015 due to the Australia Day long weekend. The missed round 7 will be played on the 1st Feb. All teams will have then played each other once. The draw will then be split into Div 1 and Div 2. After one complete round (5 weeks) each team will have played all teams in their division. This will

leave two weeks for semis and grand final. Season finishes on the 22nd March. Friendlies will be played for teams not in finals. Check website for draws.

Brisbane Futsal Academy The Brisbane Futsal Academy is aimed at those players wanting to develop their technical skills and game awareness and who strive to play futsal at a higher level. Our academy is run out of the Bowen

Hills YMCA, a state-of-the-art indoor sports venue with fantastic facilities. Our professionally run program and highly motivated and passionate coaches ensure a positive coaching experience for all players. Our aim is to expose our junior players to an intensive program which will improve their skill, agility and confidence which in turn will foster a greater love of the game. The Academy is directed at ages 9 to 14yrs. The Academy program ran each Saturday morning during October and December 2014 where the players attended weekly training sessions in preparation for their competition games. We fielded

the following teams: 9yrs, 10yrs, 11yrs, 2 x 12yrs and 14yrs. The teams competed in the Queensland Summer Futsal League against representative club teams from Northern NSW, South Brisbane, Gold Coast and Bundaberg. Participation in this league, which was held at Cornubia Sports Stadium, exposed our players to playing futsal at the highest

level and was a very challenging yet rewarding experience. Thanks to all the players, coaches, managers and parents for your support and commitment during the program. Having set the foundation we will now look to

continue the program next summer using the same model. More information about the program here: http://www.aranaunitedfutsal.com/boys-academy.html

Girls Development Program The Girls Futsal Development Program is run by head coach, Malcolm Palu, current under 14yrs Girls Queensland Coach and Kelvin Wheeler, an experienced womens coach. The program is on offer for girls aged 10yrs - 15yrs who are registered players of Arana United and Brisbane Magic Futsal Clubs. The girls program is integrated with the boys program which is also held at the same venue, however the girls have their own

separate training sessions. The program is designed to improve skills and confidence in a friendly environment and will provide a pathway for players who strive to reach representative level. There are no up front fees and players pay $10 per week. Saturday coaching sessions are held at the Bowen Hills YMCA from 12.30pm-2.00pm. The program, attended by 25 girls throughout the period, is now concluded for this season and will resume again next summer. More information HERE.

Galaxy FC AUFC has formed a partnership with Gold Coast City Futsal, Brisbane Magic Futsal Club, Northern NSW Futsal and Bundaberg Futsal to create the newly founded entity which has the vision to compete in the Football NSW Hummel F-League. The existing

clubs have pooled both talent and resources in order to form a new Professional Futsal Club. Galaxy FC intends to represent in the 2015 F-League season and every subsequent year that the F-League is played. The club is equally focused on both Mens and Womens Futsal with the Mens commencing in 2015 and the Womens in 2016. Galaxy FC will run academies in order to expose talented young players to the great sport of futsal and all the benefits that the sport brings. More info here: http://www.galaxyfutsal.com/

Trials for the Elite Youth Squads (17-19 Boys) & (16-19 Girls) will be held at Mt Warren Sports Arena on the 19th January 2015 Players MUST Register to trial by sending their

Japan Tour, September 2015 In conjunction with Go Zamurai Soccer Academy run by Rinichi Mikami, AUFC will be taking a group of players aged 14-16yrs to Tokyo, Japan to take part in a futsal and football cultural tour.
