Mens Rep Team A mens futsal team has been assembled and is currently representing Arana United Futsal Club in the Division 1

league hosted by South Brisbane Futsal Club. The team started their campaign on a positive note with strong wins in their first two games. From a club perspective our long term goal is to perform well in Division 1 with a view to being promoted into the Brisbane Premier League next season. We have entered senior teams into various tournaments in the past however this is the first time we

are actively participating in a season long league, competing against top teams from all over Brisbane. The Arana Utd FC senior players will serve as role models for our junior players, giving them something to aspire to as they work their way up through the ranks of junior, youth and finally senior competitions. Our players are: Dale Southern, Matt Anson, Bryce Anson, Zac

Carter-Tobin, Tom Cooper, Juan Pablo Solano, Brayden Nielsen. Competitions are held at the Carina futsal complex each Monday night.

Squirts Program Due to a high demand for a futsal program for 3-5yr olds we have introduced the very popular Subway Squirts Program. The program commenced on 11th October and will run for 9 weeks finishing in December. Our supervisors, Riley Botting and Rhys Pope, are fantastic with the kids and have received excellent feedback from parents. We provide a well structured and safe environment with ball related activities and games that are designed to develop hand-eye coordination and improvement of fine motor skills while having fun. The sessions are held at the Hills District PCYC on Sunday mornings.

Joeys Program The Joeys Program has also been introduced this season to bridge the gap between the Squirts Program and 9/10yrs competition. The program focuses on preparing kids aged 6-8yrs for more structured futsal competition by introducing them to game related ball skills and the rules of the game. The program has been very popular and places filled very quickly, so we will be sure to expand this program next season. The program will also run for 9 weeks until mid-December at the Hills District PCYC on Sunday mornings.

Japan Tour a Great Success After a year of planning and fund-raising our inaugural tour to Japan was a resounding success. Eight boys and two girls from Arana Utd FC aged 14-16yrs travelled to Tokyo during the September school holidays for an 8 day trip of a lifetime. The tour, in partnership with Rinichi Mikami of Go Zamurai Soccer Academy, introduced our players to Japanese culture as well as an insight into their unique style of football and futsal. The group was based in Fuchu where we were able to use the metro train system to attend professional coaching sessions,

watch professional games and play friendly games against local junior academy players. Highlights of the tour included:

Coaching session with head coach of Fuchu Firefox Futsal Club.

Friendly games and watching training sessions at Mitsubishi Yowa Soccer Academy.

Sightseeing at Mt Takoa and Asakusa visiting traditional temples and shopping districts.

Coaching session with head coach of Fuchu Athletic Futsal Club.

Watching J-League match between FC Tokyo and Matsumoto Yamaga FC at Ajinomoto Stadium.

Watching F-League match between Pescadola

Machida and Bardral Urayasu at Machida Stadium. Sightseeing in Shinjuku, Tokyo CBD.

Plans will soon be underway for the next tour in September 2016. The tour is open to registered players of Arana Utd FC and calls for expressions of interest will be made very soon for the next tour.

Junior Development Program This season the new Junior Development Program has been introduced as a free coaching program for registered junior players of Arana Utd FC. The six-week program held at the Ferny Grove State High School is open to players aged 9-10yrs, 11-12yrs and 13-14yrs. Over 50 players have been regularly attending the weekly coaching sessions. The program aims to develop individual skills and to improve decision making. Players have also received instruction on tactical components of the game and positional awareness. Due to its

overwhelming popularity we will be seeking to obtain an additional venue to continue the program in 2016. A number of players from the Junior Development Program have been selected to represent Arana Utd FC in the Brisbane Junior Futsal Premier League held at South Brisbane over five weeks in October and November. Our 10yrs, 12yrs and 14yrs teams will compete each Saturday against top teams from all over Brisbane. This is a great opportunity for many of our players to rise to the challenge of playing representative futsal.
