“Todd & Sargent, Inc. is in the business to serve the engineering and construction needs of our clients to help ensure their continued growth and success.”

That is the Todd & Sargent company mission statement. I developed this mission statement in 1992 as I felt we needed a formal written goal to help direct our decision making. Well, after considerable thought and many revisions, I think we have the perfect mission statement. I believe it describes our company’s philosophy perfectly. This simple mission statement has guided us through a great past and will continue to guide us to a very successful future.

I guess, subconsciously, Todd & Sargent has always had this mission statement. It shows by the number of repeat clients we work for. I am proud of our company’s commitment to our customers! It’s our key to a prosperous future.

GRAINSCONNECT CANADA

Todd & Sargent is pleased to announce that they have been awarded the contract to design, engineer, and construct a greenfield shuttle train loading terminal project for GrainsConnect Canada. Construction will begin this spring with completion aimed for Fall 2017. The facility will have

over 1,300,000 bushels (35,375 Tonnes) of slipform concrete storage, 625 MTPH receiving, 240 MTPH cleaning, and 2,000 MTPH rail loadout. GrainsConnect Canada is a joint venture between GrainCorp (Sydney, Australia) and Zen-Noh Grain Corp (Covington, Louisiana).

The T&S Safety Committee is proud and excited to announce the release of our updated Safety Orientation for new employees. This orientation will feature the following:

• T&S Safety Orientation Presentation: This presentation focuses on key safety concepts for T&S employees such as Hazard Communication training, caution and danger tape, injury/incident/unsafe conditions reporting procedures, and task specific training.• “Safety Orientation for Construction” Video: This video reviews general safety rules and principles that all employees should be aware of, including information about safety attitudes, safety guidelines, fall protection, slips/trips/falls, personal protective equipment, hand and power tools, confined spaces, and more. • Todd & Sargent Safety Handbook: Our safety handbook has been updated and revised and will now be provided in a pocket-sized format that employees can keep with them and reference at all times. • Hazard Communication Training Booklet: This booklet expands on the information provided in the Orientation Presentation, giving employees more in-depth information about important areas of hazard communication such as labeling and safety data sheets.• Safety Orientation Quiz: The Safety Orientation Quiz will be given after employees have watched the Orientation Presentation and video and read the Safety and Hazard Communication handbooks. This quiz will help ensure that employees understand the key points of the orientation, and that any areas they are uncertain about are reviewed with them before they begin work. • Buddy System: All new employees will be assigned an official buddy to “show them the ropes” and ensure that they are working safely at all times.

This orientation will be completed by all T&S field employees, including subcontractors. Our number one goal is to ensure the safety of all employees at every T&S jobsite and to reinforce the importance of safety within our company to all employees. We believe that this orientation will be very helpful in continuing to make this goal a reality.
