ORDER OF WORSHIP

• A COMMITTED CHURCH FAMILY• Evangelist Tammie Edmunds, Liturgist

*THE CHORAL INTROIT The Lord is in His Holy Temple, let all the earth keep silent before Him.

*CALL TO WORSHIP Leader There is now light where once there was darkness and despair.

People There is hope and joy where once there was only sadness and shame.

Leader We have life because Christ lives and the bonds of death are broken.

People Even as the days grow long and we are weary, the Lord sustains us.

Leader For Christ alone pleads our case before God so that we may know mercy.

ALL Blessed be the name of the Lord! Amen

PRAYER OF CONFESSION Lord, so many times we have chosen to hold on to our sins and deny Your resurrection. We have held on to our feelings of being unworthy and denied the message of forgiveness Christ came to bring us. We have focused on ourselves and failed to be witnesses of Your love to the world. Forgive us, Lord, and make our lives shine for You. In Christ we pray. Amen LORD’S PRAYER

OUR TITHING AFFIRMATION Leader We are a Tithing Church because the word of God teaches tithing. Our

experience gives witness to tithing, our obedience to God requires tithing. People Then let us bring our tithes and offerings to the Lord as he has prospered us. For

the “tenth shall be holy unto the Lord”. Leviticus 27: 32.

SCRIPTURE LESSON Luke 24:13-21 & 25-26 Now on that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles* from Jerusalem, and talking with each other about all these things that had happened. While they were talking and discussing, Jesus himself came near and went with them, but their eyes were kept from recognizing him. And he said to them, ‘What are you discussing with each other while you walk along?’ They stood still, looking sad.* Then one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered him, ‘Are you the only stranger in Jerusalem who does not know the things that have taken place there in these days?’ He asked them, ‘What things?’ They replied, ‘The things about Jesus of Nazareth,* who was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all the people, and how our chief priests and leaders handed him over to be condemned to death and crucified him. Then he said to them, ‘Oh, how foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have declared! Was it not necessary that the Messiah* should suffer these things and then enter into his glory?

TITHING (10%) We believe that each of us is “called into extreme discipleship” in our Discipleship Adventure and in our personal faith development and spiritual growth. As faithful followers of Jesus Christ, each member of Gethsemane United Methodist Church is being asked to examine his/her Christian stewardship in the light of the Word of God. So as an on-going commitment to become a tithing church, each week we make a special appeal to you to consider becoming a tither. Our goal is to get every member to become a tither. It is in faith and obedience to God that we receive the blessing.

A-B-C PLAN OF SALVATION Admit That You Are A Sinner. “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life.” Romans 6:23 Believe That Jesus is God’s Son, Who Paid The Wages For Your Sin. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world but that the world through Him might be saved.” John 3:16-17 Call Upon The Name of The Lord. “If you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.” Romans 10:9 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13 MINISTERS ASSOCIATED WITH GETHSEMANE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH Minister Lenox Watson, Assistant to Pastor Deacon Arthuree Wright, Conference Liaison Minister Jesse Williams Minister Brian Thompson, Youth Leader
