"He jumped to his feet and began to walk..." Acts 3:8
What an amazing story! Peter and John were simply minding their own business, heading to temple for prayer, when they encounter a man beg-ging. The beggar was not simply down on his luck, but had been, from birth, unable to walk! As he begged them for some money, Peter and John stopped, and Peter offered him something so much greater. Peter offered him healing and wholeness in Jesus' name! While the healing is incredible, what might be even more noteworthy is that the man is seemingly a complete stranger to Peter and John. It is not un-common for people to ask God to heal a friend, a relative or even the loved one of a friend or relative. But this man was a complete stranger, possibly even a nuisance to some of the passers by. Yet Peter and John stopped, delayed their own plans and offered this man something only God could provide. As the church, as those called to be God's presence in this world, today we'll turn to this story of strangers blessing strangers and learn how we can pass it on!
What We Believe
...the living core of the Christian faith is revealed in scripture, illumined by tradition, vivified in personal experience, and confirmed by reason.
...the one God we worship exists fundamentally within a community of the three per-sons of Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
…God’s son, Jesus, came to live among us as fully divine and fully human. His life, death, and resurrection points to and fulfills the good news of the freedom from sin and death, which we proclaim.
...we share one mission with Christians throughout time, to make disciples of Jesus Christ.
...it is into community (koinonia) that we have been called to coexist and through this community that we are able to truly manifest the body of Christ.
…wherever you are on your journey, we are here for one another!
“In Essentials Unity, In Non-Essentials Liberty, In All Things Charity.”

April is National Child Abuse Month
The Center for Disease Control reports that in 2014 there were 702,000 vic-tims of child abuse and neglect in the United States. Sadly there were over 1500 deaths of children. The most vulnerable are those children under the age of three. The four common types of abuse are physical, sexual, emotional, and ne-glect. For example, with physical abuse, children often suffer from burns, cuts, bruises, and bone fractures. In cases of neglect there is a failure to meet a child’s basic needs including housing, food clothing, education and medical care. Child abuse and neglect can disrupt early brain development and damage the nervous and immune systems. It can also create a variety of health problems later in adults such as alcoholism, drug addiction, high risk sexual problems, depression and suicide. The list goes on and on. If you are concerned that a child is being neglected or abused do the right thing, report it to Child Protective Services. There is a 24 hr. hotline, call: 1-800-342-3720. They are required to investigate the complaint within 24 hrs. or sooner depending on the circumstances. People are often afraid to get “involved”. Remember you’re not the victim here the defenseless child is. The CPS website is ocfs.ny.gov/main/cps/faqs.asp and it contains a lot of information on child abuse. The CDC also has helpful information including intervention and prevention. Their web address is www.cdc.gov. In regards to health care professionals, they are legally required to report all suspected cases of child abuse and neglect to the appropriate county or state authorities. Wishing good health to you! Linda
