NEW LOOK - CAMERON STREET MANDIR

And the much awaited renovations at the Cameron Street Omkar Mandir are

almost complete…

Members of properties committee have worked diligently putting in many hours of work during working hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays to

achieve the results which we proudly see today.

Many thanks to the committee for their personal commitment and to ensure

all aspects of sentiments and history are preserved along with the new look.

CHISZ Common Entrance Examination: Sat. 4th

July 2015

Our 36 Grade 7 pupils will be writing their CHISZ Entrance Examinations at the

High School of their choices. These include Arundel, Chispite , Gateway, Hel-

lenic Academy, Falcon, St. Johns College, St. Georges College, Peterhouse

and Westridge High (13 applicants).

SPORTS ROUND UP

The Soccer and Girls and Boys Hockey teams have had a very successful season so

far. At the Chisz U13 Boys and Girls Hockey Trials held , two Boys and two Girls

were selected into the Harare Schools Teams that will be playing in an Inter-

Provincial Tournament in Bulawayo next month.

CULTURAL EVENTS

Two very successful cultural events were hosted over the past few weeks:

The Annual Inter-House Public Speaking Competition was held on the 10th June,

and the winning house was Hawk House.

On the 16th June, parents and guests were invited to witness The Toastmasters

Graduation, which was presented by the Grade 6 & 7 pupils.

FREE EYE TESTS

Miss Marshal, an Optometrist, conducted free eye tests for all our Nursery and Grade

One and Two pupils. Results of those children in need of Eye Glasses were forward-

ed to parents, so that they could get prescription glasses for their child.

We thank Miss Marshal for her support to WPS, dedication and concern for our chil-

dren.

Library - Children are encouraged to read a Gujarati library book every two weeks.

Extra mural activities include exercises and games based on Hindoo culture.

Educating children on upcoming Hindoo festivals and their importance.

Term Two Pupil population at the school stands at 325 with 165 girls and 160 boys.

WHS was proud to have two of its students selected for Mashonaland Girls U16 Hockey and Mashonaland U18 Girls basketball teams. 2 girls also raised the WHS flag high by beating Dominican Convent School in a debate competition, under the auspices of Global Foundation of Public Speaking, and earned themselves free access codes to E-Learning.

The form 1 entrance exams are to be held on the 4th July 2015.

BLOOD DONATION CAMP ORGANISED BY SATYA SAI GROUP HARARE

It gives us great pleasure to inform all members of the community that the Blood Do-

nation camp organised by Satya Sai Centre Harare at the Harare Hindoo Society hall

on 17th May 2015 was overwhelming and collected 53 pints of blood which is the

highest collected so far.

Many thanks to the organisers and everyone who came to support this cause. The

support from the community was overwhelming and look forward to their continued

support in future too!

Blood Donation is service to Mankind. Transfusion of blood every year saves millions

of lives all over the world. There are millions of Blood Donors all over the world but

still there are a number of countries who don’t have adequate blood supplies.

Five minutes of your time + 350 ml. of your blood = One life saved.

AYUSH SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME

Indian Council for Cultural Relations(ICCR), New Delhi has offered few scholarships under the

AYUSH Scholarship Scheme for the 2015-16 academic session for admission in graduate/post

graduate/Ph.D. courses in Ayurveda, Yoga, Unani, Siddha & Homoeopathy.
