Tena Koutou Katoa. The 2019 Netball Season was incredibly exciting and saw our competition grow at all levels. From the hugely successful 2019 Future Ferns Programme, to the expansion of the senior grades and the introduction of the President’s Cup, Kerikeri Netball Centre continues to be committed to the growth and development of our players and our Centre, in line with our kaupapa; A Quality Provider of Sporting Opportunity for All. The Executive Committee retained its core membership in 2019. However, we welcomed Sarah Couling and Danica Wells onto the committee. Sarah did an outstanding job of leading the Future Ferns Programme and Danica has taken on the crucial role of Communications. As President in 2019, I would like to sincerely thank the Executive Committee, who are so committed to Netball in our community. Tanya Proctor has continued as Umpire Coordinator in 2019 and has pursued a commitment to improving the standard of umpiring at our centre; whilst also nurturing many of our youngest umpires towards gaining umpire qualifications. Angela Barker has continued in her Governance and Planning role this year, where she has continued to drive and support improvements. Susan Manning has continued in her role as Secretary and has worked hard to automate and improve our systems and correspondence. Anna Jordan, as well as conducting the essential Treasurer role, has run the Canteen, providing the Centre with an additional source of revenue. Finally, Jane Jarman has continued as Vice President and Athlete Development Coordinator. A special mention should also be given to Richard Hodge. Whilst he has stepped down from the Committee, he has continued to act as Kerikeri Netball Centre’s Draw Steward. This is a significant commitment and we would like to thank and acknowledge Richard for his support. I would also like to give huge thank you to our family of local sponsors; particularly Barfoot and Thompson, who were the very generous sponsor of our Kerikeri Field Days Event. Once again, the Centre ran a very successful Athlete Development Programme in 2019. This year, we continued our commitment to developing our players in the Year 7 and 8 Programme. We were also pleased to take a highly competitive team to the EnviroWaste North Island Under 15 Championship in Taranaki. Details of this will be expanded on in the Representative section below. We have also seen a number of our elite players have the opportunity to compete on the national stage again this year. Dannielle-Rose Dephoff, this year’s “Most Outstanding Intermediate Player” was selected as a member of the New Zealand Secondary Schools Team. Along with Andrea Cotton, Jean Brown, Ameyah Hape and Nicole Manning, Danielle was also selected as part of the Northern Zone Cluster Under 17 team, which competed in the Under 17 Nationals at Netball Waitakere, Auckland. Finally, once again I would like to thank you the members; whether players, coaches, umpires or supporters. You all contribute in your own way to the success of the Kerikeri Netball Centre. We look forward to continuing to grow our competition in 2020 and beyond. Nga mihi a koutou Jo Hona President, Kerikeri Netball Centre

Future Ferns.. what a cracker of a year. With an increase of teams the courts were full of our young players learning new skills and the game. The modified game has proved successful for each year level getting maximum court time and learning all different positions on the court. The introduction of the new time slots for each year level meant Parents/Star Helpers could watch and help at each of their children’s games. This also helped alleviate congestion in the car park. The Future Ferns season was wrapped up with a Dress up Festival day and Prizegiving for each year level with prizes for all, with any teams then taking on the opportunity of the three week extension offered to all. A HUGE thank you to all the Star Helpers and volunteers. We simply couldn’t run the competition without you. Bring on 2020!! Future Ferns Co-ordinator Sarah Couling.

2019 was another great year for our Year 7 & 8 teams with 19 teams competing in the grade. The first round was well fought out by each year level to then be regraded to make it a fun and fair competition. It is truly exciting to see all the players loving and enjoying their netball. Again, this could not be done without all the Coaches, Umpires, Managers and volunteers. The Centre would like to thank you all and looking forward to seeing you all again 2020.

In 2019, Kerikeri Netball Centre Executive Committee agreed to further expand our Development Programme for players in Years Seven and Eight. This year it was decided to expand from four teams to five teams. The intention was to provide an opportunity for growth to as many players as possible. These five teams worked with experienced coaches, who focused on developing their skills and knowledge of the game. They attended both the Kerikeri Netball Centre Field Days in July and the Whangarei Field Days Tournament in August. At the latter tournament, they were given access to Netball Smart training and further skill development. It has been a real pleasure to watch these fantastic young players making the most of their opportunity to grow their skills this year. Their attitude has been outstanding. Well done girls. Kerikeri Netball Centre would like to sincerely thank all of the Year Seven and Eight Development Coaches this year for extending the opportunities for our youngest players. We believe as a Centre that this will help to build Kerikeri Netball Centre’s athlete capacity in future years. We would also like to thank and acknowledge the Managers of these teams, who give so much in terms of time and organisation. Finally, we would like to thank and acknowledge the Umpires; some of whom were working towards their umpiring qualifications, whilst also serving Kerikeri Netball Centre. The Year 7 and 8 Development Representative teams are as follows:

As mentioned in the President’s report, in 2019 several of our most talented Kerikeri Netball Centre players were successfully named as part of the U17 Northland Cluster team, coached by Trina Henare and Alb Baker. This was a huge honour for our Centre and we congratulated Jean Brown, Andrea Cotton, Danielle Dephoff, Ameyah Hape and Nicole Manning on their inclusion in this team. On their spare Sundays the girls travelled around the North to get together for extensive fitness, practice sessions and tournaments before travelling to Waitakere Netball Centre to compete in the 4 day U17 National Championship in July in which the Northland Cluster team finished an impressive 18th.

In 2019, we fielded both an Under 15 side, as well as expanding our Representative programme to include an Under 15 Development side. The aim of this was to continue to encourage development within the Under 15 space.

The U15 Represent and Development teams are as follows: U15 Representative U15 Development Adelia Latu Alana Jordan Aree Rush Ariella Ripohau Atea Rush Chloe Trim Barbara Kuruleca Emma Lloyd Ellee Newman Eva Forrest-Chambers Juliette Wilkinson Katija Zivkovich Leilani Dephoff Ocean Stillwell Mereana Huirama-Moore Prisayus Kenney Ngatawa Brown Ruby Robinson Poshy Ngawati Lily Hargrove Puti Harris Coach: Sharna May Coach: Jane Jarman

Our Representative programme included our own local tournaments, held in Kerikeri and Whangarei; along with our Under 15 Team (after many years away) attending the Enviro Waste North Island Under 15 Tournament in New Plymouth between 7th –9th July 2019. Our Under 15s represented Kerikeri Netball Centre with pride; under the strong leadership of Coach Sharna May and Manager Jo Hona. Kerikeri Netball Centre would like to thank and acknowledge them for all of their hard work and to congratulate the players for their tenacity and phenomenal attitude both on and off the court.

    R PRIZEGIVING SENIOR PRIZEGIVING

This season has seen the Senior Competition go from strength to strength at Kerikeri Netball Centre. We have loved watching teams putting it all out there on the court and have seen hard fought battles week in week out. The support provided by the army of volunteer helpers coaches, managers, water carriers and supporters helps our wonderful sport to be at the heart of our community and supports Kerikeri Netball Centre’s drive to increase capabilities throughout our sport. It was wonderful to see so many whanau and past Committee members, there to watch the final games for our season. Of the many positives this year, it has been particularly awesome to see the innovative new introductory competition of the President’s Cup.
