Primary 2 School Dismissal from Term 2

As Primary 2 pupils have become more independent, they will be dismissed by their

teachers at the ground floor after curriculum hours. Primary 2 pupils will head to their respective

dismissal gates independently to wait for their parents/guardian or to head home by themselves.

This will come into effect from the first day of Term 2 on Monday, 25 March 2019.

Parents are to make the necessary arrangements with your children.

Earth Hour and World Water Day

Frontier will be commemorating Earth Hour and World Water Day on Tuesday,

26 March 2019.

The theme for Earth Hour this year is “Reduce, Reuse, Change the Way We Live”. The Earth

Hour Movement aims to rally everyone to do our part to protect our planet by reducing our energy

consumption and limit our carbon foot prints

World Water Day aims to raise awareness for water conservation and advocate water saving

habits.

Frontierers will be engaged through a sharing at the school wide assembly, classroom discussions

and recess activities.

Join us in pledging our commitment to saving the Earth!

UPCOMING EVENTS

P1 to P3 Home-Based Learning Please be reminded that Primary 1 to 3 pupils do not report to school on Friday,

15 March 2019 when Primary 4 to 6 pupils have their Sports Day. P1 to P3 pupils will be

given online learning tasks which can be accessed on the School Learning Space (SLS) portal.

Their login details should have been recorded on Page 31 of their Pupil Handbook.

Home-Based Learning (HBL) enables pupils to complete their learning at their own pace. We

believe that pupils will be gainfully engaged while developing the value of self-directed learning

through work assigned. Pupils are expected to complete all online tasks assigned to them.

A more detailed letter, including a task sheet and step-by-step instructions for login and access

to the online tasks, will be given to pupils at a later date. Related announcements and guides will

also be put up on the school website for easy reference.

Parents may contact any of the following personnel via email during school hours should your

child require assistance to log on to the School Learning Space (SLS) portal.

International Friendship Day

International Friendship Day is a day dedicated to celebrating friendships across different

cultural backgrounds. Frontier Primary will be celebrating International Friendship Day on

Monday, 1 April 2019. The theme this year is ‘Connected Communities’.

At Frontier Primary, the school has unpacked the theme ‘Connected Communities’, focusing on

one aspect of the theme - ‘Celebrating Diversity’. Through the planned activities, pupils will have

opportunities to draw on commonalities between culture and traditions in Singapore and our

neighbouring countries in ASEAN. This will in turn allow our pupils to appreciate cultural diversity

and nurture a willingness to embrace others from diverse backgrounds.

This year, we are delighted to have pupils and teachers from Santa Laurensia School, Indonesia

to visit us again between 1 April to 4 April 2019. They will share on Sulawasi culture as well

as put up cultural performances during the assembly programme. We look forward to having them

with us as part of cultural exchange between the pupils from the two schools.

During recess, pupils will have opportunities to interact with artefacts from ASEAN countries.

Pupils will also get to play traditional games from other countries. On 1 April, our school canteen

will also be selling special food originating from some ASEAN countries.

Through these learning experiences, it is hoped that our pupils will be able to keep an open mind-

set, and express appreciation for the contributions of new immigrants living, working and studying

in Singapore.

Our Next Battlefront

This year, Digital Defence was added as the sixth pillar of Total Defence. This signals the

threat cyber attacks and disinformation pose, and the importance of cyber security.

From 29 January to 24

March 2019, the Singapore Discovery Centre has curated a special

exhibition entitled ‘Our Next Battlefront’. This special exhibition is free for Singapore Citizens and

PRs. It aims to increase awareness of how cyber threats and fake news can impact us and our

survival as a nation.

Do take the opportunity to bring your child along to learn more about Singapore’s cyber security

efforts. You may want to access the following link or QR code to find out more about this

exhibition.

Online content and your child

Pupils often turn to the internet for information and entertainment. But what else are they

exposed to?

Click on the link or scan the QR code below to learn more about the risks of online content and

how you may help your child manage them.

Take action now. Start talking to your child about their concerns on the websites they visit. It is

important to agree on some boundaries on what is appropriate for their age and why some

companies such as Facebook have minimum age limits in place.

Fun activities for children 13 JUN 2018 Spending quality family time with your child

strengthens your relationship with your child. It

also creates opportunities to build trust among

family members. One of the ways to help boost

your child’s confidence and self-esteem is to

engage in family bonding activities.

To make your family bonding activities fun,

memorable and meaningful, here are some ideas:

Involve your child in household chores.

Getting your child involve in household chores gives them an opportunity to be responsible.

Read to your child

Find out on the kind of books that interest your child. Do spend time and effort to read to them as

reading sets the foundation for learning.

Engage in Science-related activities

Taking some time to carry out Science-related activity, for example, growing plants, will allow

your child to discover new learning.

Try cartooning

Cartooning is one way your child can express their creativity. Do encourage them to focus on
