HistoryEuropean colonization in America began in 1600s, especially

from England: the United States were born from the 13 English colonies that gained independence with a Revolution on the 4th of July 1776; the Constitution was adopted on the 17th September 1787. Over the years till today, U.S.A. have become the most powerful country in the world, revealing superiority especially in military and scientific sectors.

The U.S.A. took part in both World Wars, giving them a turn, and getting rich thanks to them. After 1945, the U.S.A.

and the USSR (Russia) were the major World powers, which they divided the power during the Cold War, dominating the Europe. The United States promoted liberal democracy and capitalism, and fought Communist forces in 1950-1953in Cuba.

The United States of America are situated between the Atlantic Ocean to the east and the Pacific to the west, adjoining with Canada to the north and Mexico to the south: the states of Alaska and Hawaii are isolated from the rest of the nation. The U.S.A. are politically divided into Northeast, Midwest, South and West. Geographically this area includes low and very old mountains, tectonic faults of the Hudson Valley, many rivers (the longest one is the Mississippi) and the Great Lakes to the north (which include: the Superior, the Ontario, the Michigan, the Huro and the Erie).

Some of the largest U.S.A. cities, with the major metropolises are New York, Washington (the Capital City), Los Angeles, San Francisco, Dallas, Atlanta, Boston, Detroit, Portland, Seattle, Houston, etc. Each of these cities has got specific characteristics,

and they’re visited by lots of tourists every year.

The population is growing , especially thanks to a significative immigration, mostly from Latin America and East Asia: the Hispanic immigration is the most numerous. The most populated areas of the country are the north-eastern and western (Pacific Ocean, California) ones. An estimated 77% of the population is white, 12.9 % black or African-American, 4.6% Asian, and only 1% has Amerindian origins. The religions are Catholicism, Protestantism, Christianity, Orthodoxy, Judaism, Buddhism, Islam and Hinduism. 16% of the population is atheist.

I’d really love to visit the U.S.A., because they’re the ones I liked

the most when I studied them in Geography, and, after having been in London, my next dream holiday would be going to the U.S.A.
