Traditional radiation treatments are unable to deliver high dose radiation without exposing a large margin of surrounding tissue to the radiation. As a result, treatment often occurs over many sessions (up to 45 treatment days) using low doses of radiation. Conversely, TrueBeam STx uses its advanced tracking system to target tumors from multiple angles and deliver high doses of radiation over a shorter course of time. Utilizing this approach, healthy tissues are minimally exposed to the radiation resulting in few to no side effects and return to normal activities right after treatment.

TrueBeam STx stereotactic radiosurgery is a treatment option for cancerous and noncancerous lesions. This non-invasive treatment delivers high-dose radiation to tumors from different angles adjusting for tumor and patient movement (breathing) during treatment.

Lung Cancer & TrueBeam STx Treatment Rush Radiosurgery treats lung cancer patients who cannot tolerate surgery, have an inoperable tumor, or are seeking an alternative to surgery. The challenge of treating lung tumors is that the tumor moves as the patient breathes. Unlike traditional radiation therapy, the TrueBeam STx system identifies the tumor location during non-invasive treatment. The tightly contoured beams move precisely with the motion of the target throughout the breathing cycle, requiring no breath holding or respiratory gating, thus allowing patients to breathe normally and remain comfortable during treatment.
