-Apply ICT to the specific objectives of the call and the thematic description of the call rationale. The project addresses one or several of the application areas of the call as described in the call text

-The proposal is expected to describe clearly the challenge that is addressed and the motivation behind the proposed solution.

- promote the general inclusion of older adults into the information society;- holistic view of the individual’s physical, psychological and social wellbeing.

- High quality work plan (activities, methodology and organization)

- Proactive involvement of end-users throughout the project ensure adequation of the solution to a real need, accessibility, usability and end-user acceptance, etc

- Possibility to demonstrate the expected impact in a realistic prototype or pilot application.

. - Quality of the consortium: complementarity of

expertise, essential actors of the value network, active role of SMEs and users, European wide dimension.

- Project management: mobilization of the innovative potentials of consortium partners;

- Availability of expertise and resources needed to reach the project goals. Consortium includes essential components of the value network and demonstrates added value by European collaboration.

- Relevant consideration of ethical issues

- Proactive role of SMEs and significant involvement of business partners.

- Adequate quality assurance and conflict resolution procedures; fair protection for IPR interests and relevant dissemination plan.

Section 4: potential impact of the proposed solution on quality of life (3 pages max.)

. - Describe how the proposed solution will affect and improve the quality of life for the targeted end-users. Adaptability of the solution to differing social and organisational needs in Europe;

- The aimed service models: description of contemporary service-models in the targeted areas and overview of potential future «ways of working»;

- Social and ethical impact;

- Other user segments: can the project idea be modified to accomodate other user segments?

-Justify the resulting improvements of older adults’ quality of life; -Addresses the necessary enabling elements to ensure access of the targeted end-users to the proposed solution;

-Significant social and ethical impact.

. - The business case outline (see Chapter 13 in the Guide for Applicants): how the consortium may exploit the project outcomes. Provide evidence of having the capability to foster market availability;

. Evaluation criteria:-Target an attractive and high potential market in Europe and beyond

-Capability to foster ensuing market availability of products and systems as well as associated services

-Business case: describe unique selling proposition considering the active competition. Plan further business analysis activities. -Contribute to the creation of a European market (open standards and interoperability, relevants standards, norms, etc)

A few hints: how to submit?

Register the proposal early enough. Sharp call deadline is applied. After submitting the proposal (but only before the deadline), proposers can do any further amendment, changes, etc… Proposers can submit their proposal as often as they like. The latest, before the deadline submitted version of the proposal, will be used for further processing.

The template for Part B must be used to write the proposal. The maximum page length of the proposal is set at 33 pages including all elements. The electronic submission tool will automatically cut off the proposal pdf-file after page 33.

A few hints: user-driven innovation

As a user-driven R&D programme, the focus of an AAL project should lie on users needs, the added-value of the proposed solution and the foreseen service model. Required technology developments shall be considered as enabling elements.

Several iterations during the project might be helpful to include the feedback of the users and to improve the design of the solution.

Consortium partners: think about covering the whole value network (consider primary, secondary and tertiary users; technology partners; resellers; expertise, etc) and consider the strategy towards the internationalisation of your solution (i.e. does it make sense to collaborate with an isolated end-user organisation in a country?)

A few hints:business perspective

AAL Solutions should be available on the market 2-3 years after project end.

Consider the business model at the very beginning of the project (during the preparation of the proposal) and set clear targets (affordability, identification of potential revenue streams, etc).

Use appropriate business development tools (canvas, etc) and enrich the model during contradictory debates at consortium level.

Include feedback of relevant stakeholders (outside the consortium) in order to fine-tune the value selling proposition.

Consider the role in the value chain of each consortium partner and define adequate IPR provisions and dissemination strategy.
