Conference The APLA AGM was held in Ora Banda in the Goldfields in 2015 to

Opportunity was taken provide Guest Speakers at the Conference to assist Members in their
prospecting endeavours and understanding issues and the future relating to the Mining Act and DMP
rules .
Finally there was a dinner and get together of all the members that attended at the Ora Banda Hotel
and the Monster Raffle with Thousands of dollars worth of prizes donated by our Sponsors.
Sponsors The Naming sponsor was Minelab and there was also strong sponsorship by other Organisations
nationally and locally through very valuable raffle prizes.
Minelab Membership Draw Each year Minelab sponsor APLA very strongly through the donation of a Minelab GPX5000 metal
detector for the membership draw. Minelab also assists APLA Perth Branch when that Branch holds its
Open Day in November/December each year which attracts many new participants to the Prospecting
industry

Door Prize for Attendees The door prize was a new NuggetFinder Flat Spiral wound 17x13 Mono Evolution Coil. An additional
new 12’ Round flat Spiral wound mono coil was also provided by NuggetFinder which was won by a
very happy APLA member John Barbuto in the subsequent raffle.

James Taylor won the 12’ NuggetFinder in the
raffle – The coil is not yet even released, so will be
send out in October!

was gleefully accepted by the winner in the raffle.

o Dr Bob Fagan on Geology for Gold Prospectors in WA and
how to target gold locations. Bob also took questions after
the talk.
o Sunday Afternoon saw the Metal Detector Test Bed in
Operation on the common with an excellent presentation
on the 7000 and testing of it in the test bed. This was
facilitated by Dr Bob Fagan with metal detector instructive
discussion by Glynn Morgan and
o On the Monday Cranston Edwards and Gill Edwards took
the Mines Department team out to show examples of 25 and
30 yr old regrowth and first hand experience of mine shaft
safety cover being installed over a very unsafe bund-less
historic mineshaft..
o Over the weekend people were provided with plenty of
ground to go metal detecting for gold.
