Installé à 23 ans, dans sa région de naissance (Orne, Normandie), Thierry est un élève des « maîtres », Jean-Pierre Dubois et Pierre-Désiré Allaire. L’entraîneur a aussitôt montré son savoir-faire, obtenant des résultats en constante progression et façonnant notamment des classiques Lulo Josselyn et Pearl Queen, avant de se voir confier Ready Cash et de gagner, à 39 ans, son premier Prix d’Amérique.

Thierry moved back to the region he was born in at 23 (Orne, Normandy), and learnt his trade under the ‘masters’ Jean-Pierre Dubois and Pierre-Désiré Allaire. The trainer showed his ability from the off and his results have improved consistently. He trained classics Lulo Josselyn and Pearl Queen, before Ready Cash was entrusted to him and with whom he won his first Prix d’Amérique, age 39.

Ce fils d’entraîneur normand a dû patienter pour conquérir ses premiers galons classiques, à l’attelé comme sous la selle. Depuis trois saisons, il s’est imposé comme le challenger numéro 1 de Jean-Michel Bazire, remportant à 31 ans un second Prix d’Amérique (deux ans après avoir mené Meaulnes du Corta au succès) tout en étant le partenaire de champions montés (Scipion du Goutier, entre autres).

The son of a Normandy trainer, Nivard has had to wait patiently to win his first Classic stripes both in the harness and under saddle. Over the past three seasons he has established himself as Jean-Michel Bazire’s number 1 challenger and at age 31 he won his second Prix d’Amérique (two years after he drove Meaulnes du Corta to victory) and shared the trotting champion title (Scipion du Goutier, among others).

El hijo del entrenador normando tuvo que hacer gala de paciencia para conseguir sus primeros trofeos clásicos, tanto de enganche como de silla. In den vergangenen drei Jahren kristallisierte er sich als größter Herausforderer von Jean-Michel Bazire heraus und gewann mit 31 Jahren seinen zweiten Prix d’Amérique (zwei Jahre nach seinem Erfolg mit Meaulnes du Corta). A chaque fois uniquement déferré des postérieurs, le triple vainqueur de Groupe I à l’âge de 3 ans, a survolé son sujet avec talent et panache, s’imposant comme l’incontestable meilleur cheval d’âge Européen. Trottant sur le pied de 1’12’’1 sur les 2700 mètres puis dans la réduction d’1’10’’3 sur les 2100 mètres autostart, soit les deuxièmes meilleurs temps de ces classiques, Ready Cash est entré dans la légende des grands trotteurs de Paris-Vincennes. Ces exploits réalisés, il est parti aussitôt entamer sa troisième saison de monte.

Con un crono de 1’12’’1 en los 2700 metros y reduciendo a 1’10’’3 en los 2100 metros autostart, es decir, los dos mejores tiempos de estos clásicos, Ready Cash ha entrado en la historia de los mejores trotones de París-Vincennes. Una vez alcanzados estos logros, se fue enseguida para comenzar su tercera temporada de monta.

rab-WeltmeisterinIm September 2007 machte die damals 5-jährige Olga du Biwetz be-reits von sich reden, indem sie beim klassischen Prix de Normandie unter dem Sattel ein siegreiches Debüt hinlegte. Sechs Monate später belegte sie beim Prix de Cornulier den zweiten Platz…36 Monate später verfügt die Rappstute noch immer über das gleiche Talent und belegt diesmal den ersten Platz des klassischen Trabrei-tens für ältere Pferde. Ergebnis: ein eingesteller Rennrekord (1’12’’7) und der erste Prix de Cornulier für Trainer Fabrice Souloy und seinen Reiter Anthony Barrier. Direkt im Anschluss konnte Olga du Biwetz mit einem dritten Platz beim Prix d’Amérique hinter den Favoriten Ready Cash und Maharajah ihr bestes Trabrennen hinlegen. In der Gesamtwertung beider Rennarten (Trabrennen/Trabreiten) für Stuten und Hengste ist sie im Winter 2010/2011 die Beste.

Six mois plus tard, elle terminait deuxième du Prix de Cornulier…Trente-six mois plus tard, la jument baie brune a gardé le même talent d’improvisation, montant cette fois sur la plus haute marche du podium du classique monté pour chevaux d’âge. A la clé : le record de l’épreuve (1’12’’7) égalé, et un premier Prix de Cornulier pour l’entraîneur Fa-brice Souloy ainsi que le jockey Anthony Barrier. Dans la foulée, Olga du Biwetz a réalisé sa meilleure valeur à l’at-telé, terminant troisième du Prix d’Amérique, derrière les cracks Ready Cash et Maharajah. Au classement du « combiné », attelé/monté, elle a été la meilleure de l’hiver 2010/2011, tous sexes confondus.

The reward: she finished in a time equal to the race record (1’12’’7), and took a first Prix de Cornulier for trainer Fabrice Souloy and jockey Anthony Barrier. A short time later, Olga du Biwetz gave her best performance in the harness, finishing third in the Prix d’Amérique, behind great talents Ready Cash and Maharajah. Olga du Biwetz was the most highly ranked horse, of either sex, in the ‘combined’ rankings, harness/under saddle, in the winter 2010/2011.

Seis meses más tarde, acabó se-gunda en el Prix de Cornulier… Treinta y seis meses después, esta baya castaña no ha perdido su capacidad de improvisación, subiendo esta vez a lo más alto del podium de carrera clásica montada para caballos de edad. El broche de oro: haber obtenido el récord de la prueba (1’12’’7) y el primer puesto del Prix de Cornulier para el entrenador Fabrice Sou-loy y para el jockey Anthony Barrier. Olga du Biwetz obtuvo ense-guida su mejor resultado de enganche, terminando tercera en el Prix d’Amérique, detrás de los increíbles Ready Cash y Maharajah. En la clasificación de “combinado”, enganchado/montado, fue la mejor en el invierno de 2010/2011, sin distinción de sexos.

Fille d’entraîneur du Nord de la France, Nathalie Chatelain a été bercée dans le trot, toute jeune. Longtemps installée à Biwetz (Pas de Calais), Nathalie a d’ailleurs façonné son élève Olga, avant d’en confier les destinées à Sébastien Guarato puis Fabrice Souloy. La propriétaire/éleveur est basée désormais en Normandie.

Nathalie Chatelain is the daughter of a trainer from the north of France and has been immersed in trotting from a young age. Nathalie has been based in Biwetz (Pas de Calais) for a long time and raised Olga there before handing over the reins to Sébastien Guarato and then Fabrice Souloy. The owner/breeder is now based in Normandy.

Hija de un entrenador del Norte de Francia, Nathalie Chatelain conoce el trote desde su más tierna infancia. Instalada durante mucho tiempo en Biwetz (Paso de Calais), Nathalie formó a Olga, antes de confiar su destino a Sébastien Guarato y, después, a Fabrice Souloy. La propietaria/criadora se ha afincado ahora en Normandía.

Als Tochter eines Trainers aus Nordfrankreich wurde Nathalie Chatelain der Trabrennsport in die Wiege gelegt. Nathalie, die lange Zeit in Biwetz (Pas de Calais) gelebt hat, hat ihre gleichnamige Schülerin Olga ausgebildet, bevor sie ihr Schicksal in die Hände von Sébastien Guarato und Fabrice Souloy legte. Die Besitzerin/Züchterin lebt inzwischen in der Normandie.

Anthony Barrier signe, dans le Prix de Cornulier, la plus belle victoire de sa carrière, et de loin. A 24 ans, l’angevin d’origine goûte à ce succès de prestige qui, selon lui, « tombe à pic » : il s’agit en effet de son 200e gagnant.

Anthony Barrier took the greatest win of his career (by a long way) in the Prix de Cornulier. Twenty four year old Barrin from Angers felt his taste for such prestigious success came just at the right time as it marked his 200th race win.

Anthony Barrier obtuvo en el Prix de Cornulier la victoria más importante de su carrera, con diferencia. A los 24 años, el jockey de Angers obtuvo este prestigioso premio que, según sus propias palabras, “llega en el momento más oportuno” y así es, puesto que Barrier fue el ganador nº 200.

Anthony Barrier erzielt mit seinem Erfolg beim Prix de Cornulier den mit Abstand schönsten Sieg seiner Karriere. Der 24-jährige Angeviner genießt diesen Erfolg, der laut eigenen Worten „zur rechten Zeit“ kommt – es handelt sich nämlich um seinen insgesamt 200. Sieg.

’ogre magnifiqueLe 24 février 2008, alors que Ready Cash remportait le Critérium des Jeunes à Paris-Vincennes, Rapide Lebel débutait sa carrière sur l’hippodrome de Maure-de-Bretagne par une modeste 8e place. C’est bien le seul point commun en début de carrière entre ces deux 6 ans considérés aujourd’hui comme les deux meilleurs Trotteurs Français. Hongre, Rapide Lebel n’a pas le droit aux grandes courses internationales de l’hiver. Veillant à sa destinée depuis l’été 2009, Sébastien Gua-rato, inscrit donc son champion au départ des Clôture du Grand National du Trot et Prix du Luxembourg (la veille du Prix d’Amérique Marionnaud de Ready Cash…). Le fils de Ginger Somolli remporte brillamment ces deux courses en appliquant toujours la même tactique : positionné aux avants-postes à un tour de l’arrivée, Rapide Lebel dévore, loin devant les autres, les hectomètres tel un ogre affamé de victoires. Son bilan de l’hiver est parfait : quatre courses et quatre victoires. Avec son driver Eric Raffin, il forme un couple parfait.

Their only point in common from the start of their career dates back to February 24th 2008 however, when Ready Cash won the Critérium des Jeunes at Paris-Vincennes, and Rapide Lebel made his debut at the Maure-de-Bretagne hippodrome and finished the race in a modest 8th place. As a gelding Rapide Lebel is excluded from competing in the classic winter trotting races. Sébastien Guarato, who has managed Rapide Lebel’s fate since 2009, therefore entered his champion in the Clôture du Grand National du Trot and the Prix du Luxembourg (on the eve of Ready Cash’s Prix d’Amérique Marionnaud…). Ginger Somolli’s son won both races with flying colours using the same tactic each time: he ran ahead of the rest of the field with one lap to go and hungry for success he gained a significant lead over the other runners, devouring the course with each and every stride. He has a perfect winter record: four wins from four races. He has the ideal partnership with driver Eric Raffin.

Damit erschöpfen sich bereits die Gemeinsamkeiten des Karrierebeginns der beiden sechsjährigen Hengste, die momentan als beste französische Traber gelten. Der Wallach Rapide Lebel darf an den großen internationalen Winter-meetings nicht teilnehmen. Sébastien Guarato, der seit Sommer 2009 über ihn wacht, lässt seinen Champion bei der Clôture du Grand National du Trot und beim Prix du Luxembourg an den Start gehen (am Vortag des Prix d’Amérique Marionnaud von Ready Cash…). Der Sohn von Ginger Somolli kann beide Rennen souverän gewinnen, indem er stets die gleiche Taktik an den Tag legt: Rapide Lebel positioniert sich eine Runde vor dem Ziel auf dem Vorposten, bevor er wie ein siegeshungriger Wüterich die Hektometer verschlingt. Seine Siegesbilanz mit vier Siegen bei insgesamt vier Rennen kann sich sehen lassen. Mit seinem Jockey Eric Raffin bildet er ein perfektes Paar.

Il a compris Rapide Lebel, su canaliser sa fougue, lui offrir tout le temps et toutes les attentions nécessaires. Sébastien Guarato a peu de pensionnaires dans son établissement ornais et privilégie la qualité. C’est ainsi qu’il a été l’entraîneur le plus efficace de l’hiver avec une moyenne de 50 000 euros de gains par cheval.

Sebastien Guarato understands Rapide Lebel. He knows how to channel his spirit and he gives Rapide Lebel all the attention and time he needs. Sébastien Guarato favours quality over quantity and therefore chooses to train just a select group of horses. His decision has paid dividends. He was the most effective trainer this winter and won an average 50,000 euros per horse.

Comprendió a Rapide Lebel, supo canalizar su fogosidad, darle tiempo y proporcionarle toda la atención necesaria. Sébastien Guarato tiene pocos pensionistas en su establecimiento de Orne y da prioridad a la calidad. Así ha conseguido convertirse en el entrenador más eficaz del invierno con una media de 50.000 euros de beneficios por caballo.

Er hat Rapide Lebel verstanden, konnte sein Temperament zähmen und ihm die Zeit und die Aufmerksamkeit widmen, die er brauchte. Eric Raffin est l’un des quatre mousquetaires de Vincennes avec Jean-Michel Bazire, Franck Nivard et Matthieu Abrivard. Aussi compétitif au monté qu’à l’attelé, le fils cadet de Jean Raffin est associé à Rapide Lebel depuis qu’il dépend de Sébastien Guarato. Hormis un échec en Finlande, ils n’ont jamais fini ensemble plus loin que 2e.

Eric Raffin is one of four Vincennes musketeers alongside Jean-Michel Bazire, Franck Nivard and Matthieu Abrivard. Eric is Jean Raffin’s youngest son and is equally competitive under saddle and in the harness. He has been racing with Rapide Lebel ever since Sébastien Guarato took over his reins. Except for one occasion in Finland, the duo has always placed first or second.

Eric Raffin es uno de los cuatros mosqueteros de Vicennes junto a Jean-Michel Bazire, Franck Nivard y Matthieu Abrivard. Tan competitivo en trote enganchado como montado, el hijo menor de Jean Raffin corre con Rapide Lebel desde que depende de Sébastien Guarato. Aparte del fracaso de Finlandia, juntos nunca han quedado por debajo del 2º lugar.

Zusammen mit Jean-Michel Bazire, Franck Nivard und Matthieu Abrivard gehört Eric Raffin zu den vier Musketieren von Vincennes. Der jüngste Sohn von Jean Raffin ist mit Rapide Lebel verbunden, seitdem dieser Sébastien Guarato untersteht. Abgesehen von einem Misserfolg in Finnland haben die Beiden stets mindestens den zweiten Platz belegt.
