About him
• He was born in Essex on the 13th August 1899 and died in California on the 29th April 1980.
• When Hitchcock was 15 years old his father, William Hitchcock, died.
• He often described a lonely and sheltered childhood worsened by his obesity.
• In WW1 he was rejected from the military because of his obesity.

• He was an English film director and producer. • He pioneered many techniques in the
suspense and psychological thriller genres.• He became very sucessful in British cinema in
both silent films and early talkies.• He was known as England’s best film director.• In 1939 he moved to Hollywood and in 1955
became a US citizen.
