Noah’s Ark

July/August 2018

From the Pastor

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

The first time we worship at church in July, we will be

worshipping on new floors and new carpets in the sanctuary; although,

we weren’t even expecting to do something like this for another two

years. It was a plan for our 100th year anniversary. Just as the church

gathered for the 75th to remodel the sanctuary with new carpets and

stained-glass windows, we were looking for the 100th anniversary

remodel. Plans changed when pipes froze in January. Several pipes

cracked. It caused huge leaks and water damage. For the past 6 months,

we worked together to find a new plan to repair the ceilings and floors.

We finally were able to come to a conclusion to repair our Lord’s house.

Interestedly enough our way of life with God is broken. We’re

old and in need of repair. The Law of God tries to patch up the brokenness

but it never fully works. With one patch, another hole opens up. Sin breaks

open anything God has created and established. It doesn’t have to be big

holes, even a small one can do enough damage. Instead of repairing the

broken patches, God gives us something new, something that will never

break. He gives us the faith to believe in Jesus. It doesn’t just repair, God

gives us a new creation.

17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old

has passed away; behold, the new has come. 2 Corinthians 5:17.

New floors and new carpets will get old over time but this new creation

will never grow old. Every day, we have a new life in Christ.

4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in

order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory

of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. Romans 6:4.

For the first time today, as you read this letter, remember you

have a new life in God. It’s not just some simple life or a life we can

throw away. This life transforms you. People will witness God’s new

life in you. They will see how God works through you. Let’s rejoice for

new floors, new carpets but, more importantly. for new life in Christ. Pastor Travis

What Trinity Means to Me

by Kimberly Kampe

During tough times of life

I have often prayed to God

and looked up for a sign.

Years ago I did receive a sign

which has been a reoccurring

theme in my life since then.

My sign of God’s glory, encouragement and protection came in

the form of the majestic, gliding, open wings of a hawk flying

overhead. Surrounded by hawks/eagles now on a daily basis,

I now refer to them as my Angels. I even have one tattooed on

my arm as a constant reminder that the Lord and my loved ones

are with me. They appear to me when I am not looking and am

in need of reminders that the Lord is with me.

During a recent Sunday at Trinity,

feeling saddened and worn down

from struggles, I asked in my prayers

for a sign. After our church service

ended, this is what I saw. A hawk

atop of our own cross standing boldly

as a sign that all prayers are heard.

I hope sharing my experience brings

you peace, hope and love.

Thank you Kimberly for sharing your faith-

strengthening story with us. May God continue

to show us signs of His love as He did with the

sign of the cross when He died for us all.

“For God so loved the world that He gave

His only begotten Son, that whoever

believes in him shall not perish

but have everlasting life.”

Called Home by the Lord: Erich Hilmer was called home on May 31st at 82 yrs old. Our love, sympathy and prayers for Janice and family, Erica (Jeff), Heidi (John) and Erich and their 6 grandchildren. We will all miss Erich and his sense of humor and care for Janice and others. Erich served the Lord when he was able as an usher. May he be blessed in his heavenly home.

Our sympathy and love to Lori Kampe and family at the loss of her brother Peter Rankin in May. May the Holy Spirit grant you his peace at this sad time of grieving. Jesus often greeted his disciples with “Peace be with you!” He wants us to also know that ‘peace’. We also pray that peace for Jane Sorenson who recently lost her cousins in a tragic plane crash in the Hamptons. We continue to keep cousin Charlotte in prayer at the loss of her family members. And we pray God’s peace for Edith Uhlendorf as her cousins are missing in Mojave National Park since June 3rd.
