Message by Commandant Chitral Scout Frontier Corps KPK
Chitral is outlying area which is 1/4th Area of KP province. Geographically
sandwiched in Koh-e-Hindukush mountain ranges and located on other
side of Lawar Tunnel make its out of sight from Provincial / Federal government.
Basic health facilities are nominal in numbers with deteriorating capicity/facility.
Major population of Chitral is living in poor Economic conditions, at times
difficult for availing these facilities in such conditions with lot of travelling
distance enroute. In order to help local populace in Chitral, Chitral Task
Force quite frequently organizes free Medical Camps in different areas of the
District as a Wining Heart and Mind activity. However, it was also felt that
people of Chitral are badly deprived of the facility of eye specialist as no such
faculty exists here to this end . Chitral Task Force perceived it as a well needed
activity in the area, hence concerted efforts were put in to persuade Al-Shifa
Trust Eye Hospital and Center for the Community Ophthalmology (ACCO) for
rendering their precious services to the destitute inhabitants of Chitral. Corres-
ponding to the invitation, a twenty members ACCO Team (comprising 8 x Drs
and 12 x staff members) arrived in Chitral and conducted free eye camps under
auspices of Chitral Task Force. We are very thankful for their cooperation and
the services they helped us in rendering to the people of Chitral.
