Indeed it was $A chan e% momentous,e ce"t to those uided by Allah. And ne4er would Allah Ma#e your faith of no effect.9or Allah is to all "eo"le Most surely full of #indness, Most Merciful.

# ! 3e see the turnin of thy face $for uidance to the hea4ens now Shall 3e turn theeto a ibla that shall "lease thee. !urn then !hy face in the direction of the sacredMosFue 3here4er ye are, turn your faces in that direction. !he "eo"le of the 2oo# #nowwell that that is the truth from their 1ord. ?or is Allah unmindful of what they do.

# ! B4en if thou wert to brin to the "eo"le of the 2oo# all the Si ns $to ether%, theywould not follow !hy ibla; nor art thou oin to follow their ibla; nor indeed will theyfollow each other s ibla. If thou after the #nowled e hath reached thee, 3ert to followtheir $4ain% desires,@then wert thou Indeed $clearly% in the wron .

# ! !he "eo"le of the 2oo# #now this as they #now their own sons; but some of themconceal the truth which they themsel4es #now.

# *! !he !ruth is from thy 1ord; so be not at all in doubt.

# -! !o each is a oal to which Allah turns him; then stri4e to ether $as in a race%

!owards all that is ood. 3heresoe4er ye are, Allah will brin you !o ether. 9or Allah7ath "ower o4er all thin s.

# .! 9rom whencesoe4er !hou startest forth, turn !hy face in the direction of the sacredMosFue; that is indeed the truth from the 1ord. And Allah is not unmindful of what yedo.

So from whencesoe4er !hou startest forth, turn !hy face in the direction of thesacred MosFue; and wheresoe4er ye are, !urn your face thither that there be no roundof dis"ute a ainst you amon the "eo"le, e ce"t those of them that are bent onwic#edness; so fear them not, but fear Me; and that I may com"lete My fa4ours on you,

and ye May $consent to% be uided;# #! A similar $fa4our ha4e ye already recei4ed% in that 3e ha4e sent amon you anMessen er of your own, rehearsin to you :ur Si ns, and sanctifyin you, andinstructin you in Scri"ture and 3isdom, and in new #nowled e.

# %! !hen do ye remember Me; I will remember you. 2e rateful to Me, and re8ect not9aith.

# ! And say not of those who are slain in the way of Allah.

# #! !hose who re8ect 9aith, and die re8ectin ,@ on them is Allah.s curse, and the curse ofan els, and of all man#ind;

# %! !hey will abide therein !heir "enalty will not be li htened, nor will res"ite be their$lot%.

# &! And your Allah is :ne Allah. !here is no od but 7e, Most Gracious, MostMerciful.

# ! 2ehold= in the creation of the hea4ens and the earth; in the alternation of the ni htand the day; in the sailin of the shi"s throu h the ocean for the "rofit of man#ind; in the

rain which Allah Sends down from the s#ies, and the life which 7e i4es therewith to anearth that is dead; in the beasts of all #inds that 7e scatters throu h the earth; in thechan e of the winds, and the clouds which they !rail li#e their sla4es between the s#yand the earth;@ $7ere% indeed are Si ns for a "eo"le that are wise.

# ! Eet there are men who ta#e $for worshi"% others besides Allah, as eFual $withAllah. !hey lo4e them as they should lo4e Allah. 2ut those of 9aith are o4erflowin in

# ! !hen would those who are followed clear themsel4es of those who follow $them% !hey would see the "enalty, and all relations between them would be cut off.

# *! And those who followed would say

or"hans, for the needy, for the wayfarer, for those who as#, and for the ransom of sla4es;to be steadfast in "rayer, and "ractice re ular charity; to fulfil the contracts which ye ha4emade; and to be firm and "atient, in "ain $or sufferin % and ad4ersity, and throu hout all

"eriods of "anic. Such are the "eo"le of truth, the Allah.fearin .

#*-! : ye who belie4e= the law of eFuality is "rescribed to you in cases of murder thefree for the free, the sla4e for the sla4e, the woman for the woman. 2ut if any remissionis made by the brother of the slain, then rant any reasonable demand, and com"ensatehim with handsome ratitude, this is a concession and a Mercy from your 1ord. After thiswhoe4er e ceeds the limits shall be in ra4e "enalty.

#*.! In the 1aw of BFuality there is $sa4in of% 1ife to you, o ye men of understandin ;that ye may restrain yoursel4es.

#-/! It is "rescribed, when death a""roaches any of you, if he lea4e any oods that hema#e a beFuest to "arents and ne t of #in, accordin to reasonable usa e; this is due from

the Allah.fearin .

#-#! If anyone chan es the beFuest after hearin it, the uilt shall be on those who ma#ethe chan e. 9or Allah hears and #nows $All thin s%.

#-%! 2ut if anyone fears "artiality or wron @doin on the "art of the testator, and ma#es "eace between $!he "arties concerned%, there is no wron in him 9or Allah is :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

#-&! : ye who belie4e= 9astin is "rescribed to you as it was "rescribed to those beforeyou, that ye may $learn% self@restraint,@

#- ! $9astin % for a fi ed number of days; but if any of you is ill, or on a 8ourney, the "rescribed number $Should be made u"% from days later. 9or those who can do it $3ithhardshi"%, is a ransom, the feedin of one that is indi ent. 2ut he that will i4e more, ofhis own free will,@ it is better for him. And it is better for you that ye fast, if ye only#new.

#- ! 6amadhan is the $month% in which was sent down the ur an, as a uide to man#ind,also clear $Si ns% for uidance and 8ud ment $2etween ri ht and wron %. So e4ery one ofyou who is "resent $at his home% durin that month should s"end it in fastin , but if anyone is ill, or on a 8ourney, the "rescribed "eriod $Should be made u"% by days later. Allah

intends e4ery facility for you; 7e does not want to "ut to difficulties. $7e wants you% tocom"lete the "rescribed "eriod, and to lorify 7im in that 7e has uided you; and "erchance ye shall be rateful.

#- ! 3hen My ser4ants as# thee concernin Me, I am indeed close $to them% I listen tothe "rayer of e4ery su""liant when he calleth on Me 1et them also, with a will, 1isten toMy call, and belie4e in Me !hat they may wal# in the ri ht way.

#-*! Permitted to you, on the ni ht of the fasts, is the a""roach to your wi4es. !hey areyour arments and ye are their arments. Allah #noweth what ye used to do secretlyamon yoursel4es; but 7e turned to you and for a4e you; so now associate with them,and see# what Allah 7ath ordained for you, and eat and drin#, until the white thread ofdawn a""ear to you distinct from its blac# thread; then com"lete your fast !ill the ni ht

a""ears; but do not associate with your wi4es while ye are in retreat in the mosFues.!hose are 1imits $set by% Allah. A""roach not ni h thereto. !hus doth Allah ma#e clear7is Si ns to men that they may learn self@restraint.

#--! And do not eat u" your "ro"erty amon yoursel4es for 4anities, nor use it as bait forthe 8ud es, with intent that ye may eat u" wron fully and #nowin ly a little of $other%

#-.! !hey as# thee concernin the ?ew Moons. Say !hey are but si ns to mar# fi ed "eriods of time in $the affairs of% men, and for Pil rima e. It is no 4irtue if ye enter yourhouses from the bac# It is 4irtue if ye fear Allah. Bnter houses throu h the "ro"er doors

And fear Allah. !hat ye may "ros"er.

#./! 9i ht in the cause of Allah those who fi ht you, but do not trans ress limits; forAllah lo4eth not trans ressors.

#.#! And slay them where4er ye catch them, and turn them out from where they ha4e!urned you out; for tumult and o""ression are worse than slau hter; but fi ht them not atthe Sacred MosFue, unless they $first% fi ht you there; but if they fi ht you, slay them.Such is the reward of those who su""ress faith.

#.%! 2ut if they cease, Allah is :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

#.&! And fi ht them on until there is no more !umult or o""ression, and there "re4ail 8ustice and faith in Allah. but if they cease, 1et there be no hostility e ce"t to those who "ractise o""ression.

#. ! !he "rohibited month for the "rohibited month,@ and so for all thin s "rohibited,@there is the law of eFuality. If then any one trans resses the "rohibition a ainst you,!rans ress ye li#ewise a ainst him. 2ut fear Allah, and #now that Allah is with thosewho restrain themsel4es.

#. ! And s"end of your substance in the cause of Allah, and ma#e not your own hands

contribute to $your% destruction; but do ood; for Allah lo4eth those who do ood.#. ! And com"lete the 7a88 or umra in the ser4ice of Allah. 2ut if ye are "re4ented$9rom com"letin it%, send an offerin for sacrifice, such as ye may find, and do notsha4e your heads until the offerin reaches the "lace of sacrifice. And if any of you is ill,or has an ailment in his scal", $?ecessitatin sha4in %, $7e should% in com"ensationeither fast, or feed the "oor, or offer sacrifice; and when ye are in "eaceful conditions$a ain%, if any one wishes to continue the umra on to the ha88, 7e must ma#e an offerin ,

such as he can afford, but if he cannot afford it, 7e should fast three days durin the ha88and se4en days on his return, Ma#in ten days in all. !his is for those whose household isnot in $the "recincts of% the Sacred MosFue. And fear Allah, and #now that Allah Is strictin "unishment.

#.*! 9or 7a88 are the months well #nown. If any one underta#es that duty therein, 1etthere be no obscenity, nor wic#edness, nor wran lin in the 7a88. And whate4er ood yedo, $be sure% Allah #noweth it. And ta#e a "ro4ision $3ith you% for the 8ourney, but the

best of "ro4isions is ri ht conduct. So fear Me, o ye that are wise.

#.-! It is no crime in you if ye see# of the bounty of your 1ord $durin "il rima e%. !henwhen ye "our down from $Mount% Arafat, celebrate the "raises of Allah at the SacredMonument, and celebrate 7is "raises as 7e has directed you, e4en thou h, before this, yewent astray.

#..! !hen "ass on at a Fuic# "ace from the "lace whence it is usual for the multitude so

to do, and as# for Allah.s for i4eness. 9or Allah is :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

%%.! A di4orce is only "ermissible twice after that, the "arties should either hold!o ether on eFuitable terms, or se"arate with #indness. It is not lawful for you, $Men%, tota#e bac# any of your ifts $from your wi4es%, e ce"t when both "arties fear that theywould be unable to #ee" the limits ordained by Allah. If ye $8ud es% do indeed fear thatthey would be unable to #ee" the limits ordained by Allah, there is no blame on either ofthem if she i4e somethin for her freedom. !hese are the limits ordained by Allah. so donot trans ress them if any do trans ress the limits ordained by Allah, such "ersons wron$!hemsel4es as well as others%.

%&/! So if a husband di4orces his wife $irre4ocably%, 7e cannot, after that, re@marry heruntil after she has married another husband and 7e has di4orced her. In that case there is

no blame on either of them if they re@unite, "ro4ided they feel that they can #ee" thelimits ordained by Allah. Such are the limits ordained by Allah, which 7e ma#es "lain tothose who understand.

%! 3hen ye di4orce women, and they fulfil the term of their $ Iddat%, either ta#e them bac# on eFuitable terms or set them free on eFuitable terms; but do not ta#e them bac# toin8ure them, $or% to ta#e undue ad4anta e; if any one does that; 7e wron s his own soul.Do not treat Allah.s Si ns as a 8est, but solemnly rehearse Allah.s fa4ours on you, and thefact that 7e sent down to you the 2oo# and 3isdom, for your instruction. %&%! 3hen ye di4orce women, and they fulfil the term of their $ Iddat%, do not "re4entthem from marryin their $former% husbands, if they mutually a ree on eFuitable terms.!his instruction is for all amon st you, who belie4e in Allah and the 1ast Day. !hat is$the course Ma#in for% most 4irtue and "urity amon st you and Allah #nows, and ye#now not.

%&&! !he mothers shall i4e such to their offs"rin for two whole years, if the fatherdesires to com"lete the term. 2ut he shall bear the cost of their food and clothin oneFuitable terms. ?o soul shall ha4e a burden laid on it reater than it can bear. ?o mothershall be !reated unfairly on account of her child. ?or father on account of his child, anheir shall be char eable in the same way. If they both decide on weanin , by mutualconsent, and after due consultation, there is no blame on them. If ye decide on a foster@mother for your offs"rin , there is no blame on you, "ro4ided ye "ay $the mother% whatye offered, on eFuitable terms. 2ut fear Allah and #now that Allah sees well what ye do.

%& ! If any of you die and lea4e widows behind, they shall wait concernin themsel4esfour months and ten days 3hen they ha4e fulfilled their term, there is no blame on you ifthey dis"ose of themsel4es in a 8ust and reasonable manner. And Allah is well acFuaintedwith what ye do.

And if ye di4orce them before consummation, but after the fi ation of a dower forthem, then the half of the dower $Is due to them%, unless they remit it or $the man s half%is remitted by him in whose hands is the marria e tie; and the remission $of the man shalf% is the nearest to ri hteousness. %-/! If the debtor is in a difficulty, rant him time !ill it is easy for him to re"ay. 2ut ifye remit it by way of charity, that is best for you if ye only #new.

%-#! And fear the Day when ye shall be brou ht bac# to Allah. !hen shall e4ery soul be "aid what it earned, and none shall be dealt with un8ustly.

%-%! : ye who belie4e= 3hen ye deal with each other, in transactions in4ol4in futureobli ations in a fi ed "eriod of time, reduce them to writin 1et a scribe write downfaithfully as between the "arties let not the scribe refuse to write as Allah 7as tau hthim, so let him write. 1et him who incurs the liability dictate, but let him fear 7is 1ordAllah, and not diminish au ht of what he owes. Ma#e trial of or"hans until they reach the a e of marria e; if then ye find sound 8ud ment in them, release their "ro"erty to them; but consume it not wastefully, nor inhaste a ainst their rowin u". If the uardian is well@off, 1et him claim noremuneration, but if he is "oor, let him ha4e for himself what is 8ust and reasonable.3hen ye release their "ro"erty to them, ta#e witnesses in their "resence 2ut all@sufficient is Allah in ta#in account.

*! 9rom what is left by "arents and those nearest related there is a share for men and ashare for women, whether the "ro"erty be small or lar e,@a determinate share.

-! 2ut if at the time of di4ision other relati4es, or or"hans or "oor, are "resent, feed themout of the $"ro"erty%, and s"ea# to them words of #indness and 8ustice.

.! 1et those $dis"osin of an estate% ha4e the same fear in their minds as they would ha4efor their own if they had left a hel"less family behind 1et them fear Allah, and s"ea#words of a""ro"riate $comfort%.

#/! !hose who un8ustly eat u" the "ro"erty of or"hans, eat u" a 9ire into their own bodies !hey will soon be endurin a 2la in 9ire=

Allah $thus% directs you as re ards your Children s $Inheritance% to the male, a "ortion eFual to that of two females if only dau hters, two or more, their share is two@thirds of the inheritance; if only one, her share is a half. 9or "arents, a si th share of theinheritance to each, if the deceased left children; if no children, and the "arents are the$only% heirs, the mother has a third; if the deceased 1eft brothers $or sisters% the motherhas a si th. $!he distribution in all cases $ s% after the "ayment of le acies and debts. Ee#now not whether your "arents or your children are nearest to you in benefit. !hese aresettled "ortions ordained by Allah. and Allah is All@#nowin , All@wise.

#%! In what your wi4es lea4e, your share is a half, if they lea4e no child; but if they lea4ea child, ye et a fourth; after "ayment of le acies and debts. In what ye lea4e, their share

is a fourth, if ye lea4e no child; but if ye lea4e a child, they et an ei hth; after "aymentof le acies and debts. If the man or woman whose inheritance is in Fuestion, has leftneither ascendants nor descendants, but has left a brother or a sister, each one of the two

#&! !hose are limits set by Allah. those who obey Allah and 7is Messen er will beadmitted to Gardens with ri4ers flowin beneath, to abide therein $for e4er% and that will

be the su"reme achie4ement.

# ! 2ut those who disobey Allah and 7is Messen er and trans ress 7is limits will be

admitted to a 9ire, to abide therein And they shall ha4e a humiliatin "unishment.

# ! If any of your women are uilty of lewdness, !a#e the e4idence of four $6eliable%witnesses from amon st you a ainst them; and if they testify, confine them to housesuntil death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some $other% way.

# ! If two men amon you are uilty of lewdness, "unish them both. If they re"ent andamend, 1ea4e them alone; for Allah is :ft@returnin , Most Merciful.

#*! Allah acce"t the re"entance of those who do e4il in i norance and re"ent soonafterwards; to them will Allah turn in mercy 9or Allah is full of #nowled e and wisdom.

#-! :f no effect is the re"entance of those who continue to do e4il, until death faces oneof them, and he says,

no blame on you, and Allah is All@#nowin , All@wise.

% ! If any of you ha4e not the means wherewith to wed free belie4in women, they maywed belie4in irls from amon those whom your ri ht hands "ossess And Allah hathfull #nowled e about your faith. Ee are one from another 3ed them with the lea4e oftheir owners, and i4e them their dowers, accordin to what is reasonable !hey should

be chaste, not lustful, nor ta#in "aramours when they are ta#en in wedloc#, if they fallinto shame, their "unishment is half that for free women. !his $"ermission% is for thoseamon you who fear sin; but it is better for you that ye "ractise self@restraint. And Allahis :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

% ! Allah doth wish to ma#e clear to you and to show you the ordinances of those beforeyou; and $7e doth wish to% turn to you $In Mercy% And Allah is All@#nowin , All@wise.

%*! Allah doth wish to !urn to you, but the wish of those who follow their lusts is that yeshould turn away $from 7im%,@ far, far away.

%-! Allah doth wish to li hten your $difficulties% 9or man was created 3ea# $in flesh%.

%.! : ye who belie4e= Bat not u" your "ro"erty amon yoursel4es in 4anities 2ut letthere be amon st you !raffic and trade by mutual ood@will ?or #ill $or destroy%yoursel4es for 4erily Allah hath been to you Most Merciful=

&/! If any do that in rancour and in8ustice,@ soon shall 3e cast them into the 9ire Andeasy it is for Allah.

! If ye $but% eschew the most heinous of the thin s which ye are forbidden to do, 3eshall e "el out of you all the e4il in you, and admit you to a ate of reat honour.

&%! And in no wise co4et those thin s in which Allah 7ath bestowed 7is ifts Morefreely on some of you than on others !o men is allotted what they earn, and to womenwhat they earn 2ut as# Allah of 7is bounty. 9or Allah hath full #nowled e of all thin s.

&&! !o $benefit% e4ery one, 3e ha4e a""ointed shares and heirs to "ro"erty left by "arentsand relati4es. !o those, also, to whom your ri ht hand was "led ed, i4e their due "ortion. 9or truly Allah is witness to all thin s.

Men are the "rotectors and maintainers of women, because Allah has i4en the onemore $stren th% than the other, and because they su""ort them from their means.!herefore the ri hteous women are de4outly obedient, and uard in $the husband s%absence what Allah would ha4e them uard. & ! If ye fear a breach between them twain, a""oint $two% arbiters, one from his family,

and the other from hers; if they wish for "eace, Allah will cause their reconciliation 9orAllah hath full #nowled e, and is acFuainted with all thin s.

& ! Ser4e Allah, and 8oin not any "artners with 7im; and do ood@ to "arents, #insfol#,or"hans, those in need, nei hbours who are near, nei hbours who are stran ers, thecom"anion by your side, the wayfarer $ye meet%, and what your ri ht hands "ossess 9orAllah lo4eth not the arro ant, the 4ain lorious;@

&*! $?or% those who are ni ardly or en8oin ni ardliness on others, or hide the bountieswhich Allah hath bestowed on them; for 3e ha4e "re"ared, for those who resist 9aith, a

"unishment that stee"s them in contem"t;@

&-! ?ot those who s"end of their substance, to be seen of men, but ha4e no faith in Allahand the 1ast Day If any ta#e the B4il :ne for their intimate, what a dreadful intimate heis=

&.! And what burden 3ere it on them if they had faith in Allah and in the 1ast Day, andthey s"ent out of what Allah hath i4en them for sustenance> 9or Allah hath full#nowled e of them.

/! Allah is ne4er un8ust in the least de ree If there is any ood $done%, 7e doubleth it,and i4eth from 7is own "resence a reat reward.

#! 7ow then if 3e brou ht from each "eo"le a witness, and 3e brou ht thee as awitness a ainst these "eo"le=

%! :n that day those who re8ect 9aith and disobey the a"ostle will wish that the earth3ere made one with them 2ut ne4er will they hide a sin le fact from Allah.

&! : ye who belie4e= A""roach not "rayers with a mind befo ed, until ye canunderstand all that ye say,@ nor in a state of ceremonial im"urity $B ce"t when tra4ellinon the road%, until after washin your whole body. If ye are ill, or on a 8ourney, or one ofyou cometh from offices of nature, or ye ha4e been in contact with women, and ye find

no water, then ta#e for yoursel4es clean sand or earth, and rub therewith your faces andhands. 9or Allah doth blot out sins and for i4e a ain and a ain.

! 7ast thou not turned !hy 4ision to those who were i4en a "ortion of the 2oo#> theytraffic in error, and wish that ye should lose the ri ht "ath.

! 2ut Allah hath full #nowled e of your enemies Allah is enou h for a "rotector, andAllah is enou h for a 7el"er.

*.! 3hate4er ood, $: man=% ha""ens to thee, is from Allah. but whate4er e4il ha""ensto thee, is from thy $own% soul. and 3e ha4e sent thee as an a"ostle to $instruct% man#ind.And enou h is Allah for a witness.

-/! 7e who obeys the Messen er, obeys Allah. 2ut if any turn away, 3e ha4e not sentthee to watch o4er their $e4il deeds%.

--! 3hy should ye be di4ided into two "arties about the 7y"ocrites> Allah hath u"setthem for their $e4il% deeds. 3ould ye uide those whom Allah hath thrown out of the3ay> 9or those whom Allah hath thrown out of the 3ay, ne4er shalt thou find the 3ay.

-.! !hey but wish that ye should re8ect 9aith, as they do, and thus be on the same footin$as they% 2ut ta#e not friends from their ran#s until they flee in the way of Allah $9romwhat is forbidden%. 2ut if they turn rene ades, sei e them and slay them where4er ye findthem; and $in any case% ta#e no friends or hel"ers from their ran#s;@

./! B ce"t those who 8oin a rou" between whom and you there is a treaty $of "eace%, or

those who a""roach you with hearts restrainin them from fi htin you as well asfi htin their own "eo"le. If Allah had "leased, 7e could ha4e i4en them "ower o4eryou, and they would ha4e fou ht you !herefore if they withdraw from you but fi ht younot, and $instead% send you $Guarantees of% "eace, then Allah 7ath o"ened no way foryou $to war a ainst them%.

.#! :thers you will find that wish to ain your confidence as well as that of their "eo"leB4ery time they are sent bac# to tem"tation, they succumb thereto if they withdraw not

from you nor i4e you $ uarantees% of "eace besides restrainin their hands, sei e themand slay them where4er ye et them In their case 3e ha4e "ro4ided you with a clearar ument a ainst them.

.%! ?e4er should a belie4er #ill a belie4er; but $If it so ha""ens% by mista#e,

$Com"ensation is due% If one $so% #ills a belie4er, it is ordained that he should free a belie4in sla4e, and "ay com"ensation to the deceased s family, unless they remit itfreely. If the deceased belon ed to a "eo"le at war with you, and he was a belie4er, thefreein of a belie4in sla4e $Is enou h%. If he belon ed to a "eo"le with whom ye ha4etreaty of Mutual alliance, com"ensation should be "aid to his family, and a belie4insla4e be freed. 9or those who find this beyond their means, $is "rescribed% a fast for twomonths runnin by way of re"entance to Allah. for Allah hath all #nowled e and allwisdom.

.&! If a man #ills a belie4er intentionally, his recom"ense is 7ell, to abide therein $9ore4er% And the wrath and the curse of Allah are u"on him, and a dreadful "enalty is

"re"ared for him.

. ! : ye who belie4e= 3hen ye o abroad in the cause of Allah, in4esti ate carefully,and say not to any one who offers you a salutation

#/#! 3hen ye tra4el throu h the earth, there is no blame on you if ye shorten your

"rayers, for fear the 5nbelie4ers May attac# you 9or the 5nbelie4ers are unto you o"enenemies.

#/%! 3hen thou $: Messen er. art with them, and standest to lead them in "rayer, 1etone "arty of them stand u" $in "rayer% with thee, !a#in their arms with them 3hen theyfinish their "rostrations, let them !a#e their "osition in the rear. And let the other "artycome u" which hath not yet "rayed @ and let them "ray with thee, !a#in all "recaution,and bearin arms the 5nbelie4ers wish, if ye were ne li ent of your arms and your

ba a e, to assault you in a sin le rush. 2ut there is no blame on you if ye "ut away yourarms because of the incon4enience of rain or because ye are ill; but ta#e $e4ery%

"recaution for yoursel4es. 9or the 5nbelie4ers Allah hath "re"ared a humiliatin

"unishment.

#/&! 3hen ye "ass $Con re ational% "rayers, celebrate Allah.s "raises, standin , sittindown, or lyin down on your sides; but when ye are free from dan er, set u" 6e ularPrayers 9or such "rayers are en8oined on belie4ers at stated times.

#/ ! And slac#en not in followin u" the enemy If ye are sufferin hardshi"s, they aresufferin similar hardshi"s; but ye ha4e 7o"e from Allah, while they ha4e none. AndAllah is full of #nowled e and wisdom.

#/ ! 3e ha4e sent down to thee the 2oo# in truth, that thou mi htest 8ud e between men,

as uided by Allah. so be not $used% as an ad4ocate by those who betray their trust;

#/ ! 2ut see# the for i4eness of Allah. for Allah is :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

#/*! Contend not on behalf of such as betray their own souls; for Allah lo4eth not onei4en to "erfidy and crime

#/-! !hey may hide $!heir crimes% from men, but they cannot hide $!hem% from Allah,seein that 7e is in their midst when they "lot by ni ht, in words that 7e cannot a""ro4eAnd Allah Doth com"ass round all that they do.

#/.! Ah= !hese are the sort of men on whose behalf ye may contend in this world; butwho will contend with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Jud ment, or who will carrytheir affairs throu h>

##/! If any one does e4il or wron s his own soul but afterwards see#s Allah.sfor i4eness, he will find Allah :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

##%! 2ut if any one earns a fault or a sin and throws it on to one that is innocent, 7ecarries $on himself% $2oth% a falsehood and a fla rant sin.

##&! 2ut for the Grace of Allah to thee and his Mercy, a "arty of them would certainlyha4e "lotted to lead thee astray. 2ut $in fact% they will only 1ead their own souls astray,and to thee they can do no harm in the least. 9or Allah hath sent down to thee the 2oo#and wisdom and tau ht thee what thou Hnewest not $before% And reat is the Grace ofAllah unto thee.

## ! In most of their secret tal#s there is no ood 2ut if one e horts to a deed of charityor 8ustice or conciliation between men, $Secrecy is "ermissible% !o him who does this,see#in the ood "leasure of Allah, 3e shall soon i4e a reward of the hi hest $4alue%.

## ! If anyone contends with the Messen er e4en after uidance has been "lainlycon4eyed to him, and follows a "ath other than that becomin to men of 9aith, 3e shalllea4e him in the "ath he has chosen, and land him in 7ell,@ what an e4il refu e=

## ! Allah for i4eth not $!he sin of% 8oinin other ods with 7im; but 7e for i4ethwhom 7e "leaseth other sins than this one who 8oins other ods with Allah, 7ath strayedfar, far away $from the ri ht%.

#% ! If any do deeds of ri hteousness,@ be they male or female @ and ha4e faith, they willenter 7ea4en, and not the least in8ustice will be done to them.

#% ! 3ho can be better in reli ion than one who submits his whole self to Allah, doesood, and follows the way of Abraham the true in 9aith> 9or Allah did ta#e Abraham for

a friend.

#% ! 2ut to Allah belon all thin s in the hea4ens and on earth And 7e it is thatBncom"asseth all thin s.

#%*! !hey as# thy instruction concernin the women say Allah doth instruct you aboutthem And $remember% what hath been rehearsed unto you in the 2oo#, concernin theor"hans of women to whom ye i4e not the "ortions "rescribed, and yet whom ye desireto marry, as also concernin the children who are wea# and o""ressed that ye stand firmfor 8ustice to or"hans. !here is not a ood deed which ye do, but Allah is well@acFuaintedtherewith.

If a wife fears cruelty or desertion on her husband s "art, there is no blame on themif they arran e an amicable settlement between themsel4es; and such settlement is best;e4en thou h men s souls are swayed by reed. 2ut if ye do ood and "ractise self@restraint, Allah is well@acFuainted with all that ye do.

#%.! Ee are ne4er able to be fair and 8ust as between women, e4en if it is your ardentdesire 2ut turn not away $from a woman% alto ether, so as to lea4e her $as it were%han in $in the air%. If ye come to a friendly understandin , and "ractise self@ restraint,Allah is :ft@for i4in , Most Merciful.

#&/! 2ut if they disa ree $and must "art%, Allah will "ro4ide abundance for all from 7isall@reachin bounty for Allah is 7e that careth for all and is 3ise.

#! !o Allah belon all thin s in the hea4ens and on earth. erily we ha4e directed thePeo"le of the 2oo# before you, and you $o Muslims% to fear Allah. 2ut if ye deny 7im,lo= unto Allah belon all thin s in the hea4ens and on earth, and Allah is free of all wants,worthy of all "raise.
