Aitziber IBAÑEZ GUERENABARRENA is working on the construction of a mathematical model on the collective behavior of sheep and sheepdog The research work of Aitziber IBAÑEZ GUERENABARRENA, PhD Student at BCAM, based on the collective behavior of a flock of sheep led by a sheepdog, has attracted the interest of some local media that have interviewed her: Teknopolis, ETB2, October 2, 2016 and Ahoz Aho, ETB1, October 25, 2016 Aitziber is studying the interacting of different species, a phenomenon known as "collective behavior" that often occurs in nature. The information obtained allows her to construct a mathematical model on the collective behavior of sheep and sheepdog. After the data collection done in the 50th Euskal Artzai Takur Txapelketa en Axpe, the first thing to do is to extract information, like the position of each animal along the time. The aim is to use that information to build a model able to reproduce the behavior of a dog guiding a group of sheep.
