The year 2019 was announced to be the year of tolerance where the United Arab Emirates was distinguished by its leadership that chose the path of tolerance and acceptance of others, from the values embedded in the authentic Emirati society, and the wisdom and legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan –May Allah rest his soul-. Our wise leadership took the initiative on these values in building our country with humanity, tolerance, peace and security.

Tolerance in the UAE has become a powerful expression of leadership and people, to take full care to provide a decent life for all residents, and to adhere to the noble values that all share in achieving justice, the rule of law, peaceful coexistence and the spread of love and peace.

This reflects the inspiring legacy of generations eager for peace and development, not only at the local level, but also at the regional and global levels, this spirit and this approach will remain a testament to the exceptional position of the UAE as a symbol of tolerance and peace in the region and the world.

The United Arab Emirates brings the curtain down on the Year of Tolerance 2019. As another, successful year that was brightened with the distinguished achievements in various fields locally, regionally and globally.

Another bright day in the history of the Emirates, its light embraces the sky in a space trip shared by the Emirati astronaut Hazza Al Mansouri, And what has been made of qualitative achievements with the arms and minds of a generation of creative Emirati youth, they always prove to us that they are able to make history for this country, We are proud that the UAE has a voice and has an interest in space.

This global event that is taking place in the United Arab Emirates is the dream that was aspired to by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan (May he Rest In Peace) for More than 40 years ago, it was achieved with the determination of the enlightened leadership and its unlimited keenness in highlighting the name of the Emirates in international forums, As this achievement is considered a major challenge that the UAE has been and continues to seek, it is a source of inspiration for future Emirati generations. This great event will contribute to highlighting the name of the Emirates at all aspects, and it will be a source of pride, and a transition to a new phase that requires a lot of challenge and effort from us.

Spatial Data

ADVERTISEMENT

Spatial data is an aspiration adopted by the Abu Dhabi government, in recognition of the importance of its role in supporting decision makers and belief in the digital wealth of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Thus, Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company developed the spatial data portal, It is the application concerned with providing the standardized platform for receiving, updating and listing all asset data.

Where the solution will not be limited to spatial databases, but rather includes the saying of recording assets (Oracle) spatial databases on the Esri platform with its new release 10.6.1 and document management rules.

The system works to eliminate the rudimentary solutions to deliver and insert data of assets projects traditionally (By providing paper materials and CDs, delivering data by correspondence and inserting it manually).

The application is also designed according to a developed mechanism to coordinate internal and external communication by collecting all operational procedures and providing the necessary tools, that enables consultants and contractors to verify the quality and accuracy of the data provided to the company before submitting their orders, and certificates of receipt of the assets data electronically in order to approve their financial payments.

What distinguishes this application is that it provides a group of internal systems that work to convert the received data into databases.

Agreement on the Development and Exchange of E-System for Capital

Projects in Abu Dhabi

IMPORTANT EVENTS

ADSSC has signed an agreement with governmental institutions including, Department of Urban planning and Municipalities, Department of Transportation, department of finance and Musanada company for general services. The agreement is about the development and exchange of the e-system for capital projects in Abu Dhabi, which comes as a support for the ambitions of the enlightened leadership that encourages this kind of investments in Abu Dhabi. It was done on the 7th of November 2019 in the main building of Department of Urban planning and Municipalities.

This agreement also comes as one of the department’s efforts to support cooperation with other governmental organizations in order to develop the plan of the capital investments by creating one platform to plan and monitor governmental capital projects. Also, to set a clear vision that promotes capital investments for the government of Abu Dhabi.

The agreement was signed by His Excellency Mubarak Obaid Al Dhaheri Undersecretary of the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities and Deputy Managing Director at Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company, Eng. Omar Hussain Al Hashimi, Deputy General Manager of ADSSC, His excellency Khalifa Mohammed Al Mazrouei Undersecretary at the Department of Transportation, His excellency Mohammed Khalifa Al Nuaimi General Manger of DOF and his excellency Eng. Swaidan Rashed Al Dhaheri CEO of Musanada Company for general services.

This agreement aims to develop an electronic platform for capital projects that facilitates the process and the monitor of all governmental company and institutions. In addition, it aims to develop and unify the capital investment, for example putting a unified annual expenditure.

His Excellency Mubarak Obaid Al Dhaheri confirmed that signing the agreement shows the importance of this system that aims to collect all the capital projects and keep them under a unified framework. This will achieve a cooperation among the governmental institutions by taking a holistic view of the investment plans and facilitates the monitoring of the process of work. He also mentioned that the department is following the development plan of Abu Dhabi in the capital projects sector which is considered to be one of the most important sectors which can get developed by boosting the economic growth that attracts local and international investors as our enlightened leaders encourage.

The General Manager of ADSSC said that this agreement is a reflection of all the efforts that worked to achieve a high level of services in Abu Dhabi. This agreement comes to develop the process to achieve capital project through unifying the plans and providing integrated environment that matches the government performance.

This agreement is part of ADSSC’s plans to achieve strategic objectives for both the company and Abu Dhabi.

Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company (ADSSC) Participates in

GITEX Technology Week 2019

IMPORTANT EVENTS

Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company participated in GITEX Technology Week 2019 along with 32 governmental and academic front in Abu Dhabi, under the umbrella of Abu Dhabi Government Platform. It is considered the key global event in modern techniques and advanced technology field, that was held between October 6th to October 10th

at Dubai World Trade Center.

The company’s participation under the supervision and organization of Abu Dhabi Digital Authority, through a unified platform that includes 4 key areas that represent the key pillars of Abu Dhabi’s digital agenda, including: government services, government solutions, modern data and technology, digital system empowerment, and launching and promoting the hashtag (# made_in_Abu Dhabi) through the platform.

A team from ADSSC Asset Sector presented the company's latest digital services, smart systems and applications such as: The Spatial Data Portal, and it is the application that provides the unified platform for

the receipt, updates and lists all asset data; whereas the solution will not be limited to spatial databases, but will include Oracle asset registration rules, and The Spatial Databases on the Azri Platform with its new version and document management rules, and the system will eliminate the primitive solutions for traditional delivery and inclusion of asset project data. The application is designed with an evolving mechanism to coordinate internal and external communication, by combining all operational procedures and providing the necessary solutions, therefore enables partners to ensure the quality of the data provided, which allows their applications to be submitted and to extract the certificates of receipt of the asset data electronically for their financial payments to be approved. This application features a set of internal systems that will transform received data into databases.

Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company participation in the UAE 48th national day celebrations

IMPORTANT EVENTS

On the 2nd of December 2019, the UAE celebrates the 48th anniversary of it's union, and Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company wore a robe of joy, expressing its pride in this occasion and pride in the homeland, devotion and loyalty to the United Arab Emirates, In the presence of a number of sectors and department managers along with department heads and employees of the company.

On this occasion, we start of by greetings and congrats to his Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, "may God protect him", and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President of the UAE, and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai "may God protect him", His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, and their brothers members of the Supreme Council of the Rulers of the Emirates, on the 48th National Day of the UAE.

On Monday November 25th 2019, Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company participated in cooperation with Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club and a number of government agencies in Al Ain Club Square, the ceremony program included a variety of activities, events and initiatives that imitate the joy of the citizens on this historical day in the Union’s march, And the formation of the UAE flag and many different performances that reflect the spirit of loyalty and devotion to the country.

On Tuesday 26th November 2019, The company also organized its celebration of the National Day in its headquarters in Al Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, and the celebration in the central square "Sky Tower" started with the national anthem then the Holy Quran, Then folklore shows of the mirate group started, which included songs, Nabatean poems, and enthusiastic songs following by dances and school performances.

On this occasion, the company's Chief Executive Eng. Omar Al Hashemi, stated: “The National Day is an occasion dear to the heart of every Emirati citizen, and the joy of the country's forty-eighth anniversary, Is reflected on everyone, with prosperity, safety and progress in all fields, and it is only an inspiration for the noble values and principles established by the late founder of the country, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he Rest In Peace.

The Union's march is a simple era in its scope, but it is full of achievements, which demonstrates the keenness of the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, "may God protect him", And His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and their brothers, members of the Supreme Council, the rulers of the Emirates.

ADSSC Celebrates International Children’s Day

ADSSC Launches "Tarish"

ADSSC participated in the activities of the International Children's Day 2019 incooperation with Al Ain Sports and Cultural Club.

The world celebrates International Children's Day on November 20 of each year, to raise awareness about children's rights around the world, with the aim of finding ways to improve their living conditions and standards.

The participation included organizing various

activities such as the coloring workshop and the recycling workshop, as well as educational and entertainment competitions aimed at creating the spirit of one team collaborating, and concluded the event by distributing souvenirs to children and taking group photos.

The company's participation in such events comes within its interest in supporting local and international events.

A training workshop on the new correspondence program, Tarish was organized as part of the improvement measures by Information Technology Department of ADSSC.

The workshop was attended by ADSSC employees from various sectors, and departments of the company. The workshop focused on Tarish mechanism of work and how to use it in addition to getting to know the contents of the program and methods of dealing with it.

Tarish is one of the most important systems for developing the internal work in the company, due to what this system will achieve in terms of saving time and effort. The advantage of

the system is in providing a unified system for correspondence that works to achieve e-linkage of all correspondence and cancel the paper documentary cycle. The development of such systems contributes significantly to reducing consumed resources and human costs and saving time and effort.

The implementation of this system comes within ADSSC improvement plans to support the emirate's plan for digital transformation.

ADSSC Organizes “Risks of Using Mobile Phone While Driving”

ADSSC Organizes Awareness Session on “Positivity in Work" ADSSC organized an awareness session entitled "Positivity in Work" which was presented by Dr. Naima Al Hosani / Head of Geography and Urban Sustainability Department at the United Arab Emirates University.

The lecture dealt with several basic themes related to positive dealing in the work environment and

the steps of thinking to be able to create a positive and productive work environment.

ADSSC organizes awareness lectures to contribute in the consolidation of the principles of a positive work environment among employees and enhancing the spirit of the one-team collaborating.

ADSSC organized an awareness session on “Risks of Using Mobile Phone While Driving” as part of the sustainable cooperation between ADSSC and the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police to reduce road accidents and preserve the safety of individuals.

The awareness session included a number of targeted messages related to road safety, risks resulted in lack of attention to other vehicles,

and mobile phone use while driving, and sudden deviation on the road.

This initiative is considered within the framework of societal communication, and the company has always been keen to support these awareness sessions to implement its goals of enhancing cooperation with various authorities, in addition to promoting sustainable development in line with the strategic goals of Abu Dhabi.

Annual Training Program by HSE

"Back to School"ADSSC Health, Safety and Environment Department organized an awareness workshop entitled "Back to Schools", in cooperation with the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police - Public Relations Department Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The workshop included awareness messages targeting all segments of society, focusing on the safety of students in the new academic year.

As well as discussing issues as crossing stop sign and other risks to the student's life, in addition to raising and discussing new violations and answering employee questions.

ADSSC care to organize awareness sessions within the framework of societal communication to support individuals and community and to put forth all that is new to ensure awareness and safe leadership for all.

ADSSC HSE Department launched its annual training program in implementation of the directives of the senior management and in compliance with the requirements of the Abu Dhabi Center for Occupational Safety and Health.

The program aims to raise awareness level of the requirements of HSE management system in Abu Dhabi government and private sector. Also to assure safety of employees and workers and prevention of risks in work environment. In addition to provide training courses in field of HSE to improve performance.

The launch of HSE annual training program comes in line with Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 that aims to explore the foundations for a sustainable economy, and to enhance efficiency and productivity. Taking in consider human resources

as the core of the economic growth and the importance of education and training to enhance efficiency. The program also contribute in implementing health and safety culture in companies and raise community awareness on the importance of health and safety in work, furthermore, to encouraging experience share between entities.

ADSSC Manager of Business Support Division - Mr. Khamis Mohamed Al Dhaheri, honored the participants with certificates as an appreciation for their efforts in making the event a success, and for their contribution in enhancing community events and encouraging team work, as well as to strengthen cooperation with various entities.

Brainstorming Session “Develop with Us”

Flu Vaccine Campaign inGovernmental Entities

ADSSC HSE Department organized Flu Vaccine Campaign in ADSSC headquarter as part of the sustainable cooperation between the company and Abu Dhabi Center for Public Health to reduce the spread of infection and maintain employee safety, in align with their agenda of providing the vaccine before winter season.

Taking the flu vaccine annually helps to reduce the possibility of infection and the risk of spreading flu, as each season differs in the type of seasonal diseases.

Organizing this type of campaigns aligns with ADSSC constant concern for the general safety of employees.

ADSSC Business Support Division organized a brainstorming session entitled "Develop with us”.

Several main topics were proposed to develop the efficiency of employees in addition to review best practices that contribute to work performance.

The session aims to provide an open and stimulating environment for the employees to share their ideas and contribute in developing internal procedures.

Honoring for the Completion of 35Years in Service

First Aid” Training Session”

Operation and Maintenance Division honored Abd al-Rahman Muhammad al-Kabidah for completing more than 35 years of service in Al Mafraq treatment plant.

This honor comes in recognition and appreciation of the employee's continuous service and efforts throughout his career life in the company.

The company is keen on honoring the experienced employees, as appreciation for their dedication to work and their fruitful efforts in their field.

Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company organized a training session entitled "First Aid".

The training included explaining how to deal with emergency cases, the staff were also tested with the actual application of first aid and the correct methods of rescue.

The course was attended by a number of ADSSC employees and it aims to raise employee awareness in dealing with various emergency situations.

Awareness Session on “Fire Protection”

“Passion” Initiative

ADSSC Health, Safety and Environment Department organized an awareness session about “Fire Protection”.

The session included possible causes of fire and explained how to avoid them. Also the procedures and methods that must be available to help in extinguish the fire and control it as soon as possible.

The company is keen to raise the awareness of employees and educate them about these accidents and how to properly deal with them in order to preserve their health and safety in work environment.

ADSSC Youth Council organized "Passion" initiative, at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, in the presence of the company's youth council and a number of employees.

Representatives of youth councils from various government entities were invited to share their ideas and initiatives with other Youth Councils.

The initiative included introduction on the council and its goals in addition to discussing some of the employees' proposals. Youth council aims to spread and develop spirit of familiarity, cooperation and affiliation in work through various activities and skills implementation.

This event is part of ADSSC Youth Council agenda to invest in youth talents.

Avoiding Accidents in SummerAbu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company organized an awareness session titled as "Avoiding Accidents in Summer”, in cooperation with the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police - Department of Public Relations Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

A series of targeted awareness messages related to the road safety were highlighted by introducing traffic safety rules, regulations of traffic safety system, in addition to safe driving instructions, as well as ways to protect

members of the community from the risk of traffic accidents. As well as introducing the smart vehicle impounding service which was launched by Abu Dhabi Police; that allows impounding vehicles while at the owner's custody instead of the vehicles impounding yard.

ADSSC care to organize awareness sessions for its importance to individuals and society. It is also a chance to introduce new services and systems related to safety.

ADSSC Business Support Division organized an awareness session on breast cancer in cooperation with the NMC Speciality Hospital, in the presence of a number of ADSSC employees.

The medical staff has provided various consultations on breast cancer risks and prevention methods, by following a healthy diet and undergo regular structured examinations to reduce the risks of breast cancer.

ADSSC cares to organize awareness sessions raise employee awareness and encourage adaptation of healthy lifestyle.

ADSSC participated in Alain Book Fair that was held between Sept 9th- Oct 3rd 2019 with other governmental institutions.

The participation of ADSSC comes as part of its agenda to participate effectively in social events. The company presented some of its documentaries at their platform to introduce the audience to the company’s contribution in preserving the environment. In addition to

numbers of activities and workshops, that targets different age range.

This initiative comes as cooperation between the company and other entities and institutions in the country. It is also an opportunity to interact with the community effectively while enhancing its role toward sustainable development in Abu Dhabi.

ADSSC held an innovational workshop on organizational entrepreneurship, organized by female trainees from the United Arab Emirates University, In the presence of the director of the support business sector, directors of departments and divisions and the company employees.

The workshop aimed to introduce entrepreneurship and set a couple of examples about it, as the innovation indicators were mintioned and connected to what has been discussed over the workshop to the company’s vision 2030, and the benefit from applying innovation and how to implement it.

The company encourages all its employees and trainees to be creative, And to hold workshops and events because of its positive impact on the company, goals and vision.

Awareness Session on "Sudden Deviation"ADSSC Health, Safety and Environment Department, organized an awareness workshop entitled "Sudden Deviation", held with the General Command of Abu Dhabi Police.

Where a group of messages were highlighted during the session.

In addition to explaining the reasons for the sudden deviation driving vehicles

ADSSC employees were alerted of the Traffic Law which penalty reach 1000 dirhams and four traffic points for in case of sudden deviation violation.

This awareness session is within ADSSC framework to communicate effectively in the community and to enhance cooperation with various entities and institutions in the country. As well as to achieve sustainable development in align with Abu Dhabi strategic goals.

“Awareness Workshop to Assess Goals and Annual Performance for 2019”

Workshop on "Project Management Services”ADSSC Project Management team organized a workshop on "Project Management Services”.

The workshop included most important services between Project Management Division and the Customer Happiness Section, the stages of implementing these services, the role of the Project Management employees and the Customer Happiness Section in receiving the clients and providing services to them, in addition to the means of following

ADSSC organized an "Awareness Workshop to Assess Goals and Annual Performance for 2019".

The workshop included training employees in the supervisory category in all ADSSC divisions and departments.

This awareness workshop is part of ADSSC strategy to prepare and assess goals smartly by the direct manager in cooperation with the employee. Involving employees in planning and setting goals contributes to the employees’ commitment to the criteria of goals.

The workshop clarified what is expected of the employee to accomplish during the year as it helps the employee to

up the services requests and status, and cases were also discussed within Customer Relationship Management CRM Program.

The workshop aims to raise employee awareness on the services that are provided, while ensuring customer satisfaction and implementation of the company’s directives to provide the best level of service.

World ToleranceDay 2019

ADSSC employees participated in the World Tolerance Day 2019 event organized by Al Ain Club, one the strategic partners of ADSSC with the cooperation of the Human Resources Authority and Abu Dhabi Transmission & Despatch Company (TRANSCO), Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center - Tadweer and Al Qattara Real Estate Company.

ADSSC care to implement values of tolerance. To commemorate this day one Ghaf tree was planted in the Plaza Square in front of

the Hazza Stadium, as it represents a great cultural value in the country because of its association with the identity and heritage of the United Arab Emirates.

This also aligns with the principle taught by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan - may God rest his soul - as he gave tremendous interest in preserving Ghaf tree and issued directives to prevent cutting this tree across the country.

Modern technologies play the most important role in supporting and meeting high food needs of the world’s population. Through using management and data analysis tools, remote control systems, in addition to the use of the most famous and prominent technologies of the fourth industrial revolution: robots, the internet and artificial intelligence. So that agriculture could become less consuming of the earth’s supplies, less damaging on the environment, more productive and profitable.

The Concept of Smart AgricultureSmart agriculture can be defined as a system that relies on advanced technology to farm in sustainable and pure ways. As well as the rational use of natural resources and most importantly water. This kind of agriculture’s best qualities is it’s reliance on management and data analysis systems in order to make the best production decisions in less expenses, and to support agricultural operations containing: Irrigation, Soil Control, Crop Control and Pest Control. Smart farms are offering agricultural production that is sustainable and more productive due to the most sufficient use of resources.

The Internet and Smart AgricultureThe Internet is considered one of the most prominent modern techniques used in smart agriculture. It is the process of linking one device with another through internet. This is done by connecting household equipment and machines used in factories and agricultural fields with smart phones.

The data that is being collected and analyzed has an important role in detecting agricultural pests and calculate the amount of pesticides used to avoid excessive use. This data also helps to rationalize irrigation.

These technologies are beneficial for people with greenhouses. It enables them to remotely control the level of lighting, open or close windows and increase or decrease temperature. They can also monitor the greenhouse by receiving an online notification if any change occurs.

Examples of these applications in smart agriculture are using drones to take pictures are using drones to take pictures of agricultural lands and drawing maps to observe and evaluate crops. Sheikh Zayed Tribute Hall:

It is the first hall of the center and provides four important and inspiring chapters of the story of our father Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan who lived in a desert environment rich in environmental and historical information, where the preservation of the environment and the protection of nature were his national priorities. Sheikh Zayed focused on the environment and future heritage by balancing the economic and social revival and preserving its cultural, social and environmental heritage, confirming that this experience is the key to the success of the sustainable development that he established its foundations.

Abu Dhabi Desert over Time:

The exhibition shows Abu Dhabi's geological history over 500 million years ago through the use of modern technologies that gives a detailed overview of the changing features of the emirate due its exposure to erosion factors for hundreds of years. Sheikh Zayed Desert Learning Centre is the first government project to have the highest rating in the field of sustainable development, and the first building in the UAE to achieve the maximum rating of five pearls in the sustainability system. To obtain the highest rating, eight environmental standards must be applied, relating to the materials used in the project, Efficient use of energy and water resources, possible coexistence in the internal and external building environment, consideration of natural systems, innovation and commitment to the integrated development program.

The center also received the highest Platinum Certificate according to the LEED International Classification, which evaluates the design and construction, the operation of high-performance green buildings within the areas of sustainable location, water and energy efficiency, ambient atmosphere, materials and resources, quality of the internal environment, innovation and design.
