Martin Luther King Jr. vs. Malcolm X

I Have A Dream TodayEvery man must decide whether he will walk inthe light of creative altruism or the darkness ofdestructive selfishness. This is the judgment.Life's most persistent and urgent question is:What are you doing for others?-- Martin L. King

"Violence as a way of achieving racialjustice is both impractical andimmoral. It is impractical because it isa descending spiral ending indestruction for all. The old law of an

eye for an eye leaves everybody blind. It is immoral because it seeks tohumiliate the opponent rather thanwin his understanding; it seeks toannihilate rather than to convert.Violence is immoral because it thriveson hatred rather than love. It destroys

community and makes brotherhoodimpossible. It leaves society inmonologue rather than dialogue.Violence ends by defeating itself. Itcreates bitterness in the survivors andbrutality in the destroyers."

    Martin Luther King, Jr.

"I think there are plenty of goodpeople in America, but thereare also plenty of bad people inAmerica and the bad ones arethe ones who seem to have allthe power and be in thesepositions to block things thatyou and I need. Because this isthe situation, you and I have topreserve the right to do what isnecessary to bring an end tothat situation, and it doesn't

mean that I advocate violence, but at the same time I am notagainst using violence in self-defense. I don't even call itviolence when it's self-defense,I call it intelligence."
