Highway police who went to a crash in Japan on Sunday couldn’t believe their eyes – a twisted mess
of supercars.
Japanese police say eight top-of-the-range
Ferraris, two Mercedes sports cars and a Lamborghini were the vehicles
that crashed into each other, causing a 4$-million insurance . No one died in the 14-car pile-up but ten people were
and taken to hospital. Police believe speeding and a wet road surface
could have been the causes of the accident.
Police believe the cars were traveling at a speed of 160kph on a road with an 80kph . The lead car hit the central barrier
and the following cars all ploughed
into one another. TV shows wreckage from the cars spread across 400
metres of road.
The cars were part of a convoy
heading to a supercar rally in Hiroshima. The leading Ferrari that spun out of was
driven by a 60-year-old man. Several eyewitnesses told local TV what they saw. One said: “A group of cars was doing
140kph to 160kph. One of them spun and they all up in this huge mess. It’s a miracle
no one was seriously hurt.”
Another motorist described how he narrow ly
avoided becoming part of the accident, saying: “The front car
into the left embankment and bounced off towards me.” A crash scene police officer what he saw. Lieutenant Eiichiro
Kamitani told the AFP news agency: “I've never seen such a thing. Ferraris rarely travel in such numbers.”

Writing
Many people believe that cars have enhanced our lives enormously. Other people disagree, saying that cars have made us lazy and have damaged the environment. Discuss both these views, sharing your personal experiences where relevant. ______________________________________________________________________________ Vehicles are certainly a part of modern life. Globally, the number of cars on the roads is growing on a daily basis. They have changed the way we live and work in many different ways. In this essay, I will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of cars. Firstly, I will talk about the positive aspects. There can be no doubt that cars have made it easier to move around. These days, people can visit distant relatives on a regular basis. In contrast, people in the past could only maintain relationships with people who live in their neighbourhood. Another advantage of having cars is that they provide entertainment to many people. Personally, I enjoy drifting and I like to compete in this sport. In addition, many of my friends are entertained by Formula One as well as other driving competitions. However, there are also disadvantages to having cars. In the past, people used to walk or run everywhere in order to get what they needed. These days, unfortunately, people tend to use their vehicle any time they need to go somewhere. As a result, the majority of people have become lazier than their ancestors. Another major downside is that cars cause enormous amounts of pollution which leads to poorer health and climate change. In my own case, I tend to get asthmatic when the pollution is high. In conclusion, cars have many benefits to humans. However, we need to be aware that there are also negative sides. Therefore, we should use cars wisely. [252 words]
