The digital economy—today and into the future

IT is the business Today’s enterprises are experiencing increasing pressures that are disrupting their traditional business model. If customers do not address these pressures and evolve, they may risk the loss of market share, revenue, decreased stock prices, and more. Hewlett Packard Enterprise (HPE) sees three key factors that need to be addressed:

1. The idea economy: Quickly turning ideas into new, innovative products or services and revenue is key to business today and tomorrow. The marketplace is very competitive and there is a constant race to be first to market. IT must have technological agility to quickly turn ideas into reality or risk the competition taking the lead.

2. New disruptive business models: Today and into the future, there are more new businesses enabled by digital innovation that are disrupting the status quo. This is changing existing industries in ways that were never imagined. IT must be flexible and fast enough to take the lead. Supporting the adoption of new technology, which allows organizations to use new business models and evolve to the future, is critical to IT.

3. The public cloud: Is thought to offer new levels of simplicity—including moving from CAPEX to consumption-based expense, reducing the need to predict capacity and scale rapidly, providing a developer-centric architecture, and offloading the heavy lifting that comes with operating a data center. On the other hand, on-premises infrastructure provides many advantages such as security, control, governance, choice, latency, and (if used efficiently) costs.

HPE believes that IT will need to provide all of these capabilities in the data center. Plus, IT needs to support the use of public cloud, enabling workloads to be to me placed more efficiently in a right mix of infrastructure with both on-premises and cloud sources.

Get started deploying HPE Synergy with HPE Flexible Capacity—an HPE Datacenter Care capability. Increase agility by managing capacity ahead of demand, reliably on-premises increasing financial agility. Move to consumption-based payments to align costs to the business and reduce upfront capital outlays, enhancing cash flows and financial flexibility. HPE Synergy and HPE OneView enable customers to increase their utilization of the dynamic fluid pools of resources—allocating resources as their workloads require Flexible Capacity’s additional buffer on-site ahead of demand. When it comes to operating a composable infrastructure with HPE Synergy—customers may want their IT staff to focus on innovating in this new environment instead of focusing on routine daily tasks. HPE Datacenter Care-Operational Support Services (DC-OSS), a component of HPE Datacenter Care, delivers remote monitoring and management of IT. Customers can leverage the tools, people, and processes of the HPE Operations Center to monitor and operate the infrastructure, offloading routine tasks—for example, storage capacity and utilization forecast reporting, network throughput and stress monitoring, as well as tasks such as server monitoring, backup start and restart, and patch management. HPE DC-OSS is made up of a catalog of services that can be used to augment the IT organization’s capabilities to operate the entire data center, or specific environments within it, or to focus on certain layers of the infrastructure. These services complement HPE’s best practices for operating on-premises or in the cloud by delivering 24x7 remote infrastructure monitoring and management services, as an integrated part of your HPE Datacenter Care experience.
