Kudos to Center for First-Year Advising in Natural Sciences! We've been through some changes these past few months, and we've become a stronger team because of them. Also, spending the summer in a classroom together was an experiment that went a lot better than I think any of us expected. I can't wait to see what our new staff will bring to our office!

Some things students (and their advisors) might want to know about online courses.

Faculty expectations are no different for the online courses than they are for in-person courses.

Online courses vary in approach and difficulty just like in-person courses always have.

Online courses allow students flexibility in their schedule by allowing attendance anywhere with a good internet connection; some “on demand” classes allow even more flexibility.

Online courses usually have in-person office hours in addition to online contact.Many online courses have an in-studio attendance option.Online courses require access to a laptop or desktop – tablets and phones are

not supported.Most online courses include an introductory module to orient students.
