THE BEATLES – "ABBEY ROAD"The apple is a symbol that the Beatles used – this makes the CD instantly recognisable as a Beatles CD without reading the CD's title

Band's logo appears on front cover – trademarks the CD & confirms that the album is a Beatles album

BRITNEY SPEARS – "CIRCUS"

Clown – further enhances the circus theme

Front cover is 'circus' theme – reflects the song's name. This is done by making 'Britney Spears' in a promotional circus-like font & the curtains in the background

Britney Spears, appears on the front – promotes the album as a Britney Spears album

KATY PERRY – "TEENAGE DREAM"

Digipak reflects Perry's song "California Gurls" – promotes that the Digipak has this song included. The design also makes the digipak eye-catching

Lack of text on the front cover – puts more attention on the image of Katy Perry

Artist appears on the front cover – promotes whose album it is

Discs have sweet features candy – further promotes the "California Gurls". It also makes the discs have a more original appearance

AC/DC – "HIGHWAY TO HELL"Dark colours – reflects AC/DC's hard rock genre & style of music. Lighter colours would suggest a lighter genre

"AC/DC" & "Highway to Hell" are positioned very high & low – puts more focus on the band so that they can easily be recognisable.

Album is mostly made up of an image of the band – the band may be very famous that they might not need to largely show their name to let people know who the album's artist is.

Lead singer wears horns & a devil's tail & reddish background – reflects the album's hellish theme. Hell is part of their song "Highway to Hell"

The album hasn't been modernised & is still an old-fashioned 1970s style – reflects that that the band are from the 1970s & brings some nostalgia to fans

ABBA – "GOLD: GREATEST HITS"Plain black background – Makes the gold stand out better & makes "ABBA" more of the main focus.

"Greatest Hits" – promotes that this album contains the top songs of the artist.

Artist name in large text – promotes who the artist of the album is, as there is no image of the artist

"Gold" is second largest text – promotes that this is a special album of the artist. Gold is usually a

EMINEM – "THE EMINEM SHOW""Emninem" is the largest text with the album name underneath in smaller text – large text promotes who the artist of the album is. The smaller text shows what the name of the album is.

Eminem is sat down on the steps of the stage in deep thought with the curtains rising – symbolic meaning: Eminem may feel that the curtains have been raised on his life, & his life has become public.

Artist & album names are at the top – reflects the theme of the album of a stage show. Stage shows usually have their titles up high

Artist is not shown up close – the artist may be very well know that it may not be necessary to have a larger image of the artist

SAM SMITH – "THE WRITING'S ON THE WALL"Text is small – puts more focus on the image of the artist & the album image as a whole.

Spectre logo underneath artist & album names – shows which James Bond film this song is from

James Bong style theme – reflects that the song is the song of the latest James Bond movie Spectre. Promotes the album better because James Bond is a very popular franchise, & James Bond fans would be able to recognise the spot light

Artist name is in small text while an image of the artist is large – the artist may be already well known that he doesn't require to boldly show his name

AVRIL LAVIGNE – "THE BEST DAMN THING"Large image of Avril Lavigne – promotes the artist

Heart & cross bones & Lavigne pulling her– further promotes that the album is targeted towards teenage girls. May suggest it's for the tough or chavvy teenager girls

Teenage girl theme – suggests who the target audience of the album is. This is done by adding a lot of pink (pink is the stereotypical favoured colour of girls) & the artist wearing a fancy-designed jacket/top & having long hair to make herself appear like a teenager (fancy clothes & long hair are prime stereotypes of young girls).

MAROON 5 – "V""Maroon 5" is small & faint – puts more focus on the "V"

Very little stuff in the background – further puts more focus on the "V"

Large glowing red "V" – V is the Roman numeral for 5. Makes the album very eye-catching & fans may work out that the album is a Maroon 5 album. The "V" represents the artist in different manner rather than just a "5". The glowing red may suggest that album is good for discos.

RITA ORA – "I WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN"Lightly dressed & showing some skin – Adds sex appeal & seduces the audience to buy the album

Red background & leather jacket – may reflect that the album is romance theme as red is associated with love

"RITA ORA" in large text – promotes the name of the artist. Artist may not be very well known yet & still has to rely on promoting her name. Her name & a large image of the artist may aim to make herself more famous not by her name but her image.
