So now what?

Pedagogy

• Identification of the courses

• 5 Blended

• 5 Enhanced

• Discussions took place over:

• Gamification

• Flipped Learning

• Blended Learning

• Online Learning

What we discovered:

Videos are needed for each of our learningEnvironments – but how can we make them More interactive?

Light Board Results

• San Diego State University’s Matt Anderson, has experimented with Learning Glass in his Physics course and has had an increase in retention and assessment.

Light Board 101

• A light board is a “glass chalkboard pumped full of light” (Peshkin).

• The clear, bright writing shows up much better than it does on a regular whiteboard- with little to no post production editing needed.

• Slides, pictures, and videos can be projected on to the screen.

• The students are able to see the instructor and the lecture notes- the instructor’s body is not blocking the text.

Examples

DYI

• There are not any commercial versions available at this time, so a lightboard is a DIY project.

• Because it is DIY, a lightboard can be customized for the institutions needs and cost constraints. There are many different ways to construct a lightboard.

Tutorial• There are two great online tutorials that Catherine

recommends.

• Northwestern

• Duke University (the one we used!)

Testimonials

From Dr. Skyler Lovelace:

• For my f2f Digital Drawing & Painting class, this is going to be brilliant for live demos of

• rule of thirds-I can place myself as a subject on a drawn grid

• 1-pt & 2-pt perspective-using a photo dropped into green screen, drawing the perspective lines right on top of itdemonstrating/correcting shading errors

• For my online IT Ethics, I want to shift my current written instructor notes to video notes. I'll enjoy dropping in images to support the quotes I use every week.
