Dear colleagues,As we welcome the spring and sun, we have celebrated the National Sovereignty and Children’s Day on April 23. Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, presented April 23, the day when Turkey announced itself an independent state, as a gift to all children in the world. For some time, we have been holding an art competition participated by the children of the employees at SP Turkey. This year, we wanted to generalize this competition among all of children Standard Profil Group employees. Children are our future. We must not only bring them up as healthy individuals serving the society but also leave them a healthy environment they can live in. Based on this objective, we are asking our children to paint about “recycling and environment”. I am sure we will be inspired by their imagination and creativity and learn important lessons on our habits and attitude towards the environment. Production with high scrap rates lead low efficiency and poor quality, in high volume plants such as SP Group. This also means a waste of limited natural resources for scraps that cannot be used at all.

We must primarily save on these scarce resources to protect the environment we will leave to our children and to minimize the harm we do to wildlife. In line with this goal, we took the first steps for SPPS (Standard Profil Production System) and BiQ (Built-in Quality). These systems will not only help us for standardized methods, quality processes and safety, they will also guide us to create a clean and healthy work setting and environment. I hope we will live those days when we care about the environment, utilization of resources, efficiency, saving, recycling and recovery in order to leave our children a better future.

Turhan Semizer / CEO

We must leave a bright future to

our children

“Although it’s been only six months since I joined Standard Profil Family, I feel like I just took up the

post yesterday. One of the reasons why I feel this way is that I quickly adapted to the idea and feeling of being a member of this family. I would like to thank you for your warm welcome and the good relations we’ve established. As Mr. Semizer, our CEO, stated on various platforms, 2015 was a year when we had great achievements and attained the previously-set goals. On the other hand, there is quite a lot of ground we need to cover together in order to improve our well-known supplier position in the highly competitive automotive sealing market.

The following are the most outstanding matters among 2016 objectives: 1) SAFETYWe need to eradicate occupational accidents totally. As it is the case in all fields of industry, there are risks in our sector as well. However, it is our responsibility to foresee these risks, take required action and ensure that rules are known and respected by everyone. No shortcomings in taking measures can be tolerated in terms of “safety”, as they cannot be tolerated in terms of quality, either. Improvement of safety situation cannot be achieved coincidentally but as a result of common awareness, daily

practices, methodological risk analysis and implementation of appropriate actions. The prerequisite for such an approach is daily order and arrangements.

2) QUALITYRequired for developing a permanent relationship with our customers, customer satisfaction is dependent upon the “quality” performance in the cost that can be covered by the company. This is also indispensable for gaining new customers. It is our responsibility to deliver the products on time (and the services in a more general sense) which meet the expectations of our customers. Through this approach of quality that we need to have within the company, each of us must ensure that we produced a quality work before proceeding with the next step. It makes no sense at all to provide an added value to some goods (be it some parts or documents) that are basically not appropriate. As it is the case

in terms of safety, we must adopt a zero mistake policy in quality. To do that, we need to design products duly manufactured in mass as well as competent processes, run controls and checks that allows for identifying any failures (technical or human) and work in a planned manner. Furthermore, we should learn speaking on the basis of reliable and proven data, actually visit those points where problems arise to have a full grasp of the issue and implement solution methods to define and identify “real causes”.

3) INDUSTRIAL PERFORMANCEWe need to continuously improve our

processes to ensure they provide the maximum added value in this ultimately competitive environment and in the highly variable automotive market. Fighting against lavishness and optimization of resources should be adopted as constant efforts. To support this approach, it is one of our responsibilities in 2016 to spread the use of SPPS (Standard Profil Production System) within the company. As a result, we must make better use of the advantages and current potential we have in this Group as brought along by its size.

Synergy between East and West will be further improved specifically in

terms of operations. We have various opportunities at hand. I am sure we will make the best use of opportunities and attain the 2016 objectives

together.

Synergy between East and West operations increasing

Joining the Standard Profil Family six months ago, Dider Moullin, Vice President of Operations East, said he quickly adapted to the family. Moullin stated that the three outstanding matters in 2016 objectives are safety, quality and industrial performance.

On February 24-26, all executives of Standard Profil Group came together in Istanbul. The 2nd Standard Profil Global Convention brought together all global executives of the Group. During the meeting, 2015 results were evaluated and the 2016 objectives and the 2020 vision were discussed. Setting the scene for deliberations on the vision and future of our Group, the Global Convention continued with functional meetings for units.

The new Standard Profil website achieved a huge success when it made its way into the finals at the Golden Spider Web Contest, the first and only independent web awards organization in Turkey. The new interface for our website has been launched very recently. The website attained a more aesthetic and user-friendly form after its design and the applications in its content had been touched up. This enabled our website to be among the leading websites in the most prestigious web contest in Turkey. The contest requires that there will be a public voting for works which made it to the finals in various categories as a result of the evaluation by Golden Spider Web Awards jury. Public voting results will reveal the winning websites.

2015 was a year when we had great achievements and attained the previously-set goals. On the other hand,

there is quite a lot of ground we need to cover together in order to improve our well-known supplier position in

the highly competitive automotive sealing market.

Noise Vibration & Harshness Control (NVH), is a subject that is much highlighted in the automotive sector due to its relations

with expectations for comfort and quality. The new sealing profiles we produce prevent the wind noise within the cabin, which has been one of the main complaints from end-users. Considering that automobiles become quieter, engines, tires and roads are built quieter, insulation for wind noise becomes more and more important. Increasing number of electric and hybrid cars is also a factor reinforcing this trend. In line with the rising customer expectations to this end and our new R&D strategies, we launched the noise and vibration development program at the end of 2015. The work we have done in this sense enabled us to calculate and improve the acoustic features of our existing products and of new designs through computer simulations and experimental methods. In this framework, we plan to have a holistic acoustic and vibration laboratory in addition to a wider range of products in comparison to our competitors by the end of 2016.

the new “acoustic cabin” prevents wind noise

PROjECT SUbMITTED TO TUbİTAK WAS SUCCESSFUL The project we submitted to the Ministry of Industry - Presidency of TUBITAK was found successful and R&D expenditures are now incentivized. This facilitates the establishment of a sustainable R&D infrastructure and the financing of new projects. We are currently about to start our second project to eliminate another problem, the squeaking sound, in addition to the prevention of wind noise. Through this project, we plan to have rubber profiles with an improved surface and better features. We reinforced the project infrastructure through the R&D collaboration with the Middle East Technical University and Istanbul Technical University. We publish presentations for peer-reviewed conferences and hold meetings with NVH experts of the companies we serve. It is our ultimate aim to support and be the solution partner for our customers during the R&D and Product Development processes. It makes us really happy to start picking the fruits of the work we have done so far.

standard Profil bulgaria awarded for “Investment in human capital” bulgarian Investment Agency (bIA) crowned the successes of last year’s most significant investment projects in bulgaria through the “Investor of the Year” awards. The leading companies and investors in bulgaria were awarded for the outstanding contribution they made to the country’s socioeconomic development in 2015. Standard Profil bulgaria received the “Investment in Human Capital” award during the 10th award ceremony. The award ceremony was held at the Royal Sofia Hotel balkan on February 10, 2016.Deputy prime ministers, ministers,

“WE CAN ONLY PROSPER THROUGH INvESTMENTS IN HUMAN CAPITAL” 100 companies from all sectors including but not limited to economics, information technologies and healthcare filed their applications via ministries, regional administrations and municipalities before the deadline for candidacy applications. Following impartial discussion and evaluation, 17 companies that carried out investment projects in 2015 made it to the final stage.Standard Profil bulgaria was nominated in the category of “Investment in Human Capital” and received the award. This category also saw

many other companies from all sectors of economy standing as candidates. On behalf of Standard Profil bulgaria, Plant General Manager Petar Angelov has received the award from Ivelina vasileva, Minister of Environment of bulgaria. He said “Human is the capital of a country that opted for a modern and sustainable development model. This is the investment with the greatest return. We can only prosper and raise the standards for our citizens through investments in human capital.” The award was a statuette in the form of a golden bull prepared by

Seyfettin Shekerov, a sculptor.

We launched the “Standard Profil Production System” (SPPS) and the “Built-in Quality” (BiQ) projects to establish a standardized, sustainable and common production and quality system. In this framework, a booklet was initially prepared. The booklet serves as a guide, reminding the tools that may be needed in the installation and implementation stages for SPPS and BiQ systems. The objectives for SPPS and BiQ projects are as follows: Production at the right amount, right time and with the right quality; an effective and efficient working environment; an internalized culture of continuous improvement; a corporate memory composed of the experience, successes and failures of the Group; competent and highly-motivated workforce.

Achieving great success as a global company, Standard Profil Group further improves production quality standards in all plants each and every passing day.

Recently, Standard Profil Tangier obtained the Q1 Certificate, widening the distance between itself and its competitors in this highly competitive market. SP Tangier Plant successfully passed all controls and audits to obtain the Q1 Certificate as a result of intensive and disciplined efforts. To attain permanent and continuous success in all projects and to harmonize the quality systems of automotive supply industry with the global quality system of Ford for its new models, Ford demands that the Q1 Quality Systems is applied by all its suppliers. Obtaining the Q1 Certificate, our Tangier Plant has now opened the door to new Ford projects.

EMPLOYEES jOYFUL FOR THE CERTIFICATE All employees were elated at the news that the Q1 Certificate had been obtained. Stating that the Q1 Certificate mattered so much to them, employees said that they were very happy to have achieved this certificate as a result of long and demanding efforts. Employees at SP Tangier Plant celebrated this success with a party in honor of the Q1 Certificate.

Standard Profil Tangier, achieved a huge success. Our plant received the Q1 Certificate involving the basic disciplines of quality and

manufacturing. Employees at Standard Profil Tangier made extensive efforts to obtain the Q1 Certificate. Demanded by Ford, the global automotive giant, as a requirement

It is a great motivation for the team

Recognition of this caliber is a great motivation for the team. This is the result of the efforts and the investment in human resources we have made for Ford since 2011. During the ceremony, I saw happiness in the eyes of the management staff. but I was most proud when I saw our employees sincerely demonstrating their sense of belonging at STANDARD PROFIL and sharing enormous joy.

certificateQ1

IN ADDITION TO THE Q1 CERTIFICATE, OUR TANGIER FACTORY SUCCESSFULLY PASSED THE AUDITS FOR ISO TS AND ISO 14001 CERTIFICATES WITHOUT ANY NON-CONFORMITY, THUS PROvING THAT IT HAS THE COMPETENCE AND CAPACITY TO MEET THE DEMANDS OF OUR CUSTOMERS REGARDING QUALITY, PROCESS AND SYSTEM.

Since September 2010, we were waiting for this recognition by our customer Ford. I want to thank each member of the Ford production unit and the rest of the team who directly and indirectly contributed to this achievement through an individual effort and team spirit. We need to continue the journey with the same effort to keep with the development of our company. Quality is our future!

Q1 means a door opening to the world. Q1 is a reputed and prestigious certificate not only in the world of Ford but also for other automotive manufacturers. Suppliers obtaining this certificate can approve the parts by themselves, thus saving on labor. Manufacturers with Q1 Certificate become the potential supplier for any given Ford plant around the world and for any Ford vehicle. This also allows opening to the world and receiving orders from brands such as Ford (including the US), volvo,

Mazda, Land Rover, jaguar and Aston Martin.SP Tangier Plant currently employs a total of 652 employees and operates in a total indoor area of 16,000 m2 with the addition of the second building finished in May 2015. The plant is focused on finishing and is supported by our plants in Spain for semi-finished products and profiles. SP Tangier Plant produces for Opel Meriva, Ford Focus & Cmax, Seat Leon & Ibiza, Renault Espace, Capture & Kango, Nissan, Dacia

Nissan and Dacia Docker projects. In addition, production for Renault Megane and Laguna takes place in the second building.

Standard Profil Tangier is officially entitled to receive the Q1 certificate. This is the product of the efforts and job dedication of Standard Profil employees and is also the result of continuous improvement and respect for the rules of work and production.

This certificate is the product of the efforts of SP employees

Standard Profil has the privilege of being among the few companies operating in Tangier Free Zone, doing business with Ford and obtaining the Q1 Certificate all at the same time. This is the result of many years of work by Standard Profil plants in Morocco and Spain and the success of the quality, production and logistics teams. This success also brings along a new responsibility. We must maintain this performance and improve it even more. Q1 is the pass for receiving and starting a new Ford project in line with the quality required by the customer.

Q1 is a door opening to new Ford projects

This certificate is a huge pride for the company and all its employees. We are happy because this certificate will give Standard Profil the opportunity to undertake more projects and will also enable us to continuously develop our careers. We enthusiastically celebrated the International Women’s Day at all Standard Profil locations around the world

Time is the scarcest resource in our lives, which can not be recovered. We need to use time effectively in order to has productive and satisfying days. The effective use of time, in turn,

depends on time management. Eliminating time-consuming traps is the key to successful time management. Time is more generous when you take measures against those traps.

lIMIts can Boost ProDuctIVItYIn his book Time Management, Ray Joseph draws attention to a key point about the matter: “In fact, we all have the same time. Yet this is enough for quite a few people. So, time itself is not the problem. The problem is with us. That is, it does not matter how much time we have but what we do in the meantime.”

l Planning is crucial. Definitely plan your priorities and shortcomings.

l Give priority to urgent things when you are planning. Define your long- and

short-term goals. Get a daily “to-do list”. Do not postpone work, start immediately.

Finish that work before leaving it or taking up another work.l Do not overcommit yourself to your work. Make time for rest, social activities, sports and small personal rewards.l Do not be impetuous. Be calm, patient, and move step by step.l Do not let everything be around. Make sure

that your desk and personal

belongings have an order.l Share your work and assign others responsibility when necessary.l Set deadlines for yourself.l Start with the boring work you are reluctant to do.l Do not allocate much time to uninvited guests and phone calls.l Experience the lightness of saying no.l Eliminate the alternatives when you cannot decide.l Find out when you are more energetic and weaker throughout the day, and plan accordingly.l Know yourself, discover your limits, and observe how you manage time on different occasions.l See your mind, emotions and ideas as elastic bands; stretch them and imagine.l Each day, reward yourself for at least one achievement.

l Contact people who make you smile at least once a day.

l We cannot change the past, we may shape the future but we can control today. Be in the present moment, be wherever you are.

It is in our power to use time efficiently

whAt should be done to mAnAge tIme effectIvely?

Most of the time, days and weeks pass so quickly that we cannot even keep a track of them. Time flows so fast that things always remain unfinished. Time runs and we chase it. The key to coping with this problem is effective time management.
