BeachBlanketbabylon

THis east london sister to the popular covent garden resturant offers dogey survice at a frightful price tag. on the plus side the cock-tails were good if your lucky enough to get served. The decor is attractive though and it does well to persuade the liverpool street suits that they are ‘egdy’ enough for the east end.

TheShoreditch

The shoreditch with very attractive signage attracted us with free entry and was ex-tremely busy even on a tuesday night. Anoth-er attractivly designed bar.

Trapeze

If you are one of those people who can’t decide between party mash ups and house music, this is the place to be. Tra-peze offers circus themed cocktail bar upstairs, meaning there are acrobatic equipment on the ceiling and clown pic-tures on the wall. The stairway leads to the ‘basement club’ where house music attracts a more alternative crowd.

plastic people

It is hard to find a club that would be all about the music, but that is exactly what Plastic People is. It offers techno, house, hip-hop, and other more experimental nights and shows. With that being said, there is not much for the eyes or for the whole body, for that mat-ter, as the venue is awfully small. That might explain why you need to get there super early or/and wait in the queue for at least an hour.

The masque haunt

A typical pub where it can be hard to find a table despite the fact it is actually vast. On Fridays they offer a pint and fish and chips for a bit more than a fiver which is a pretty good deal consid-ering a pint usually costs around four. I have yet to try how it actually tastes, but for now i always have a plan B.

‘Shoreditch is probably the only other area in London apart from Camden, that you can convey in a dress sense. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve been told I look very Shoreditch.’‘Erica, 17, CSM Student

Shoreditch fact

THe first two theatres in london were both in shoreditch and were built in the 1570’2; this was be-cause the lord mayor of london wouldn’t allow them to be within the city of london walls.

‘’For me, Shoreditch just stands out from the rest of London, the fact that anywhere else, graffiti, old yellow bricks and rotting wood would have councils up in arms, but here, it’s precisely what makes Shoreditch beautiful.’

Brick Lane coffeeWalking in after a year I was surprised that nothing has changed except for the poster in the bathroom. The place is nicely deco-rated and the barista can make a decent cup of cof-fee. However, they made a crack about a coffee per day keeping Ebola away on the chalkboard outside which lowers the whole im-pression significantly.

Page 22: A Rough Guide to Shoreditch and Surrounding Areas

It is one of those coffee shops where you wish it was snowing when you sit inside, just because it would make the whole pic-ture perfect. I enjoyed a nice piece of cake and a good cup of coffee in a proper mug which delightfully wasn’t paper. All in all a good place for those who love Christmas and all things warm and cozy.
