The cool weather is moving in and that means Fall is here! With fall comes lots of fun and exciting things for our students ministry. Check out what is going on. Upcoming Events: October 2 - Black Out Party October 9 - No Youth Fellowship (Fall Break) October 30 - Costume Party October 30 - “Be Still” Sermon Series Begins

November 4-5 - FALL BASH!

Black Out Party For this party night we will be in the basement from 5:45-8:30pm. We will have fun dark games and activities for students and their friends. We will also have a full Youth Fellowship service beginning at 5:45pm like usual.

Costume Party Our third Party Night of the semester landed right at the end of October, so we couldn’t resist doing a costume themed party. Par-ticipants may NOT wear any inappropriate costumes, horror cos-tumes, or costumes depicting horror related events. Remember; we want to honor God in everything we do, including dressing up for a fun night at church.

Be Still Be Still is all about listening to God. Sometimes it is hard to quiet the noise surrounding us so that we can hear His voice. As Christians we need to know when to say no, we need to stop, and be still.

FALL BASH On November 4-5 we will have our annual Fall Bash. This is a lock-in all-nighter for 6th-12th grade students. This is a free event that includes food, games, and door prizes. Students need to be dropped off at 10 pm on the 4th and picked up at 7am on the 5th.

***We also need adults to volunteer to chaperone! If you are interested, even if you can’t stay the whole night, please let Allen know ASAP.

CAMP 2017 Middle School Camp: Our 6-8 grade stu-dents will be returning to Crossings camps in the summer of 2017. Please go ahead and mark your calendar so you don’t miss out! Location: Jonathan Creek Camp and Conference Center Dates: July 8-13 Cost: $359

High School Camp: We will be returning to Mission Fuge next summer with our 9-12 grade students. Please go ahead and mark your calendar so you don’t miss out! Location: Belmont University, Nashville, TN Dates: June 26-July 1 Cost: $384

Keep our students in your prayers. Pray that they would reach out to their fellow classmates at school, and that the Spirit would move to see those classmates come to salvation. Pray that our students would have courage to be used to further the Kingdom of God here in Boone County. In Christ, Allen

GAP CHRISTMAS

TRIP 2016 We are a little over 2 months away from our annual Christmas trip to GAP!! It’s hard to believe it’s already time to start planning and preparing our hearts for the blessings that will come! Dates are in place and are as follows: Monday—Thursday, December 4th – 8th This is a week of working the Toy store & helping with distribution.

Monday, December 12th This is the Parent Store—where the kids shop for mom and dad

I realize it’s early in the year to begin thinking about Christmas but early planning makes for a successful holiday season! Our collec-tion effort will run from Sunday, October 16 to Sunday, November 20th. There will be a barrel in the narthex to place your gifts in. So when you see toys on clearance or an item that would be perfect for one of the teens, or you see a great clearance item for mom or dad, go on and pick it up! Take advantage of those “buy any item get one free” coupons from Harbor Freight. These are great for Dad! If you would prefer to give a monetary gift to purchase food for distribution, please place your gift in the offering plate marked clearly for GAP FOOD. As always, all contributions are greatly appreciated.

I look forward to seeing you and working together to make this another successful year of giving and then receiving those bless-ings from God.

If you have questions, pick up your information letter on the main bulletin board. Dates, costs, and more information will be avail-able there. Feel free to contact me at [email protected] or call 859-445-1227. Blessings, Pat Durham

New Additions” this month to our UBC Family.

Introduce yourself & Welcome them to our Family!

New Members: - Mark, Kristy, Landon & Zoe Webb

Please introduce yourself to someone you don’t know and make them feel welcome.

Hunger is no respecter of geog-raphy or ethnic group. It can be felt in an apartment in Eastern

Europe, a cardboard shack in Central America, a tent in the Sahara, or a farmhouse in rural America.

Southern Baptist missionaries and volunteers are offering nour-ishment for the body and soul. And every Southern Baptist can have a part in those ministries through gifts to the Southern Baptist Global Hunger Relief. While Christ-followers, including Southern Baptists, are doing something about hunger in the U.S. and around the world, we could be doing a lot more. In fact, we can be assured that God expects us to do much more. He ex-pects us to demonstrate an urgency to pray, to give, and to min-ister on behalf of those who are hungry--both physically and spiritually. Donations will be received during October.

Kroger Community Rewards

As Christmas approaches so does one of our outreach op-portunities, Totes of Hope. Totes of Hope is an effort to feed families in need at Christ-mas. You get a list of items, buy those items, and place them in a plastic tote to be sent to a family in need. These totes and shopping lists will be available for pick-up on November 1st, and will need to be brought back by December 4th. Please consider taking advantage of this opportunity to show the love of Christ to people in need.

A mother asked her little boy to please get the broom

from the back porch. “But it’s dark out there!” he pro-

tested.

“Don’t be scared,” Mom said. “Jesus is

out there. He’ll take care of you.” When

the child looked skeptical, his mother

continued, “Jesus is everywhere. You’ll

be safe.”

After a moment, the boy went to the

back door and cracked it open. Peering

into the dark, he called, “Jesus, if you’re out there, will

you please hand me the broom?”

He’s Everywhere!

We all appreciate being welcomed into the church every Sunday, right?! I know I do, and I know it takes a lot of wonderful smiling faces to get this job done. Right now we need more smiling faces to grace our doors and man our Welcome Center. If you are being led to serve somewhere in the church this is a great place to get started! You will learn faces and get to know the church functions. If you can help in this area please contact Jean McClurg: [email protected] or 384-0750
