As a tireless servant of God and a contagious advocate and supporter of mission efforts throughout the world, Annie Armstrong led women to unite in mission endeav- ors that ultimately led to the formation of Woman's Missionary Union, for which she served as the first corresponding secretary. Annie rallied churches to give more, pray more, and do more for reaching people for Christ. As we continue to unite to make her vision a reality in North America today, we can be confi- dent that her legacy will also be ours.

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL

Oh no! “Weird Animals” are about to take over the hallways of Un-

ion Baptist Church!! Why, you might ask? Because that’s the theme of our Bible School this year! The week is set for June 23—June 26th from 9:00 am until Noon for those 4 years old through 5th grade. SOOOOO, make sure you mark your calendar and plan to attend! We’ll be learning about how Jesus’ love is one-of-a-kind and even though we may be a little different, He still loves us all the same! What a wonderful lesson to teach our children!! In order for this to be a huge

success, we need you! As your “Zoo Keeper,” I’ll need “Trainers” to take the kids from site to site, I need a Games Coordinator, and various other leaders. Remember the sooner you commit, the more you are assured the group you would like to work with. Youth, this means you too! If you have missed the last couple of years, you’ve missed a great time! Sign up to be a VBS “Jungle Guide” now! You won’t want to miss a single day! Our first meeting will be Thursday, April 3rd at 7:00 pm in the Legacy Center! If you have questions about VBS or already know where you want to work, give Miss Pat a call! If you plan to work VBS this year, please make every effort to attend this meeting as there are many changes in how we are doing things this year! It would be great to get us all on board early on. Also, if you are working in VBS, t-shirts will be available for purchase. Cost and availability are still being worked out. Keep an eye on your bulletin for updates!

**Key: Kids, start saving that change, especially pennies! We’ll have our annual penny war and all funds will go to

purchase toys for our Appalachian Toy Drive.

CENTRI-KID 2014 Reservations have long been made for June 12th through 14th. Male and fe-male chaperones are in place. The excitement is certainly building for kids and adults alike. ALL BALANCES ARE DUE IN FULL BY SUNDAY, May 18th. There will be a CAMP MEETING ON SUNDAY, MAY 4th, following the 11:00 am worship service. Information packets, permission slips and NEW INFOR-MATION will be given out at this time. If you have a child going to camp, please make every effort to attend.

BABY DEDICATION DAY “Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven.

The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light.” James 1:17 Now, you are being given the opportunity to give that gift back to the Lord. This special day will take place Sunday, May 11th, during our 11:00 am morning worship service. If you wish to participate, please see Miss Pat by Sunday, April 27th with the following information: your child’s full name, date of birth, and 2 to 3 pictures emailed to her.

UPCOMING AWANA DATES April 02—“Polka-Dot-Night” - How many dots can you earn in one night? April 09—NO AWANA—Boone County Spring Break April 23—”Pop-Cycle Night” - We’ll end the evening together with a cool treat!

PAGE 2 THE TRIUMPH A PLACE OF HOPE!

Dear Friends, We're just a few weeks away from the celebration of the pinnacle of our faith - the resurrection of Christ. I want to take this opportunity once again to encourage you to invite friends, family, neighbors, and work associates to join you for Easter Sunday worship on April 20th. Easter Sunday is a day when the lost and un-churched are most likely to accept an invitation to attend church services. Please take this opportunity to build a bridge from those you care about to Christ through your personal invitation to our Easter service. I'm certain that God will be present in resurrection power and those who reach out in faith can truly experience a change in both their life and eternity.

See You Sunday,

Pastor Kevin

Spring is a time of growth; the trees bloom and begin to show their fruit. This month I want to encourage each of you to ask what kind of fruit you are producing as one of God’s people.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kind-ness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against

such things there is no law.” Galatians 5:22-23 Upcoming events: April 13 - Camp Payment #3 ($70) April 19 - Southside Easter Party April 30 - Final Wednesday Night Party (Bonfire)

Southside Baptist Church Easter Party We will once again help out with Southside Baptist Church’s annual Easter Party. We will leave UBC at 8:45am on Satur-day, April 19, and plan to return around 1:30pm. If you would like to take part in this day please sign-up on the youth table.

Wednesday Night Parties April 30 will mark our final Wednesday night party of the spring semester. We will have a bonfire at the fire pit/pavilion. We will have food and different games to play like Ultimate Frisbee and other outdoor games. Bring your friends and we will have a great time fellowshipping together!

The Great Exchange The Great Exchange Is our final Wednesday night Message theme of the Spring Semester. It will run from April 2 to May 7. During these weeks we will discuss some of the things we are sup-posed exchange throughout our lives in order to live a more Christ-centered life. Some examples of the exchanges we should make are “hate for love” and “comfort for calling.”

Camp Update Now that we are on the other side of DiscipleNow, our next HUGE calendar Event is camp!! Summer will be here before we know it and I am so looking forward to what God has planned for our student Ministry at UBC. Please be in prayer as we approach the summer and especially camp… that God would keep us safe as we travel and that He would change the lives of our students. Also, don’t forget that the next camp payment day is April 13 ($70).

In order to continue offering Children’s Church for our 4 year olds through 2nd graders in the 11:00 am service, I am in need of workers. This is a great time to get to know some of the children in our church and to have the opportunity to teach them about the love and grace of

Jesus Christ. Won’t you prayerfully consider how you might be a part? If you are a parent of a child in this age group, your assistance would be greatly appreciated. If you have questions about Children’s Church and what we do, please see me. I would love to talk with you

about it. Miss Pat

SPECIAL NEED

No “New Additions” this month to our UBC Family.

Introduce yourself to someone you don’t know & make them feel like they

are a part of your family! We all like to feel accepted as an important member in God’s family!

HARVEST OF HOPE FREE YARD SALE Praise God that Spring will soon be here! With it comes time for our annual Free Yard Sale on May 3rd. Each year we choose a trailer park to invite to our event and give away anything we have that they can use. That's where you can help. We need items donated to give away to the families that at-tend. We will take whatever you would like to donate ex-cept adult clothing, other than jeans and sneakers. Also, keep in mind that these fami-lies live in trailers and don't have room for large items, like game tables. You can put items in the HOH barrel in the narthex or wait until our drop off night at the HOH house on May 2. More details to come. Any questions, contact Anita Holloman. Thanks in advance for sharing your possessions with others that are less fortunate. Harvest of Hope Team

A PLACE OF HOPE! PAGE 4 THE TRIUMPH

AKA: Getting to Know One Another Ever wish you knew other UBC folks better? Maybe you’re new and haven’t met many people yet… Maybe you’re a long-time member who’d like to meet some new faces…

What is Bread Breakers? Groups who meet to share simple meals & conversation. Groups are intergenerational & a mix of long-time & new members.

How does it work? Participates are assigned to groups of 6-8 people. You will re-ceive group info. Each group meets once a month for 3 months to share a meal and get to know one another. At the end of the session, new groups are formed and the process starts over.

When and where will my group meet? One person/couple in your group is designated “first host.” The host contacts each group member to arrange a date/time for the first meeting. Some possibilities are: host’s home, a restaurant, church fellowship hall, city park, or wherever your imagination leads you. Future plans are made at each meal.

Who provides the meal? Arrangements are up to each group and can vary from meeting to meeting. Suggestions: potluck; host provides the meal; take-out; or dine in a restaurant. The meal can be for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner – whatever works for your group.

How do I join? (The next session will be Sept. - Nov.) Contact Barbara Miller at [email protected] or call 859-496-5829.
